always headache when I do GS triceps and chest

Cathlete
when when I wake up in the morning, it's almost like I need a bit more cardio before lifting weights. I did not have a hard time with GS Biceps back and shoulders or with GS legs (I actually sweet in this one since we are using th elower body and it feels I got a good warm up)

but ... and this is the 3rd time. as soon as I start with the push up in the Chest and Triceps... my head starts to hurt. Am I the only one?

So I think I will do the push ups at the end of the chest part and not at first. My head can't start with that 1st thing in the morning.

Or I am thinking of even adding cardio before or 1 part of the GS leg and then Chest and Triceps.

I will try all these options and see what I like

but does anyone gets a headache by starting right away with the push ups?

just bumping because i am curious about if you guys feel the same way. it really bothers me. i wish i could start with push ups

Hi Darine-

From my personal experience, I can get a headache if I don't remember to exhale during the "work" part of an exercise.

For example, if I am doing a squat and don't focus on exhaling as I am pushing upward, I'll find myself w/ a headache afterwards. I don't know the science of it, but I think it has something to do w/ holding your breath during the exertion. I haven't experienced it very often, but its happened enough that I've been able to pinpoint the cause. Also, I usually find it occurs when I'm doing a really challenging weight/exercise and also possibly being a bit dehydrated.

The pushup series in that workout is TOUGH.. you could try making sure you are exhaling as you are pushing yourself upwards
to see if that helps.

Let me know if that helps! take care, Lynn M.

Darine-

I had the same thought as Lynn; perhaps you aren't getting the air you need. I know that when I'm pooped and doing pushups, I end up holding my breath and WOW they get a lot harder. ;) You might want to try doing only half of what Cathe does; if she is going for 12 that set, you do 6. See if that helps.

(I'm curious if your headache goes away after you've stood up? How long does it last?)

Try it out and let us know!

no it doesn't go away and last all day

except this morning as soon as i felt it i stopped

by the end of the workout my headache was gone. thank god!

i always do push ups and I am fine but in the middle of the workout. when I am more warm up

but too start seems to be not for me!

It may be blood pressure issues of some sort since you said you start right after you wake up, right? I can't do the camel pose in yoga before about 1pm without feeling ill. :p

If you lift heavy with your chest weights how can you still do the pushups?? impressive!
