Abs every day?

Hi everyone! Is it okay to work your abs every day? I usually do about 20 min. or so 6 to 7 days a week. Is that too much? Any response or input would be appreciated! Thanks, Nancy~~~

Well..Tony Horton says in Ab RipperX...you wouldn't work any other body part every day, so why would you work your abs? I never thought about it this way, but now that totally makes sense to me.:)

Hmmmm. Perhaps I'm overdoing it... Maybe I should cut back to 3 or 4 days and add a little more cardio in place? Its worth a try! Thanx for the input!! Nancy~~~~

I find doing other w/o that also work the abs is better than focusing on the abs everyday... like doing cardio that uses core muscles to stabilize you or kickboxing where you are punching and using abs. I have actually gotten more ripped abs from doing things like that than actually doing whole ab w/o. I do love the ab section from KPC, it's quick & for some reason I find it to be really fun. Not sure that helps or not.

I used to work mine a little every day. I was afraid of losing what strenght I had gained. I started using Cathe workouts this past Thanksgiving and tried to continue that. Eventually I couldn't. My abs got sore from her workouts. So I took a cue from her rotations and began doing them every other day. My abs got so much stronger! Suddenly the ab workouts were done with so much more ease. I am tickled!

I agree with everyone else. The abs are a muscle like any other, and you are doing yourself no favors by working them every day. If you want killer definition in your abs and that's why you work them every day - focus more on cardio and your diet. Cutting out sugar and eating squeaky clean is the best way to get the definition. The old saying is that great abs are created more in the kitchen.

Thanks everyone! All sounds like great advice!!! It will take a little adjusting for me, because I am SO used to doing abs almost every day!!! And I am very set in my ways!! But that is why I asked! Time to change it up a bit!!! Take care; Nancy~~~
