Hi folks,
Can anyone recommend a really tough Abwork DVD? I love Core Max, but I think my body is getting used to it, and a girl needs some variety. I'm looking for something just as advanced or even harder. Thanks!

Hey why not give Ajock's mish mosh mess a try to spice up some traditional ab routines she does. Keep the body guessing :)

Amy, a good DVD for you to invest in is Cathe's Ab Hits DVD, which is about 12-14 ab routines from wayyyyy back in the day up through the Slow and Heavy / Power Hour series. There are also Cathe-created premixes on this DVD, and the chaptering is very good, so you can create your own ab blends as well.

Personally, I like to do planks in all my land ab work, so what I usually do is stick the CTX Kickbox prone/supine planks and roll-ups at the front of a traditional ab routine; my fave follow-ups after these planks are: Cardio+Weights ab session; CTX Leaner Legs ab session; CTX Allstep ab session; Muscle Max ab session; Hard Core High Step Challenge ab session (because that one is shorter in length than I prefer, I also like to stick the Core Max ball rollouts at the end of that mish-mosh.

Another mish-mosh I like to do requires the BodyBlast Timesaver DVD, which has both the KPC (stability ball) and SJP (traditional floor and plank work) routines:

KPB abs on the ball through the supine ball exchange; SWITCH TO
SJP ab session in its entirety; SWITCH BACK TO
KPB knee rolldowns and long-lever jackknives on the ball.

I like that remix because it keeps the supine and prone work together, and starts you off with traditional planks and then vaults you into the ball planks.

Maybe also check out my thread from this week "A New Spin on 'Old' Abs" for some ways to vary your existing traditional routines.

Adam Ford's Stability Ball Abs workout (available from Amazon) is good. Three different workouts for the core, ranging from intermediate (with some more advanced variations), to advanced (with some very advanced moves in the third workout, like a superman on the ball!.) Also, as a bonus, Adam is an athlete, and does the entire workout without a shirt on, and in cute shorts! (so you can see the muscles working). He also is some kind of neuromuscular therapist (like a PT), so the form pointers are great.

Tony Horton's "Ab Ripper X" (part of the P90X program) is a challenging ab workout, with not a regular crunch in it.
