a question for the gardners

I would like to plant some flowers at my home. What types of flowers are deer and rabbit resistant? We always have animals in the yard and I don't want to waste money on something for them to eat, they can eat the grass. ;)

The deer in my area do not eat rosemary, lavendar, oleander, hyrdragea, black eye susan, calla lilies and peonies. However, you might want to call your local extension office to see what they recommend, they usually have a list. Deer in different regions enjoy different things, and it has also been my experience that they can change their "minds" about something too....and suddenly start eating a certain genus of flower they had not previously enjoyed.

Good luck!

Marigolds keep the bunnies away, you can border your beds w/ marigolds. Fox pee keeps the deer away. I think it is actually made from fox pee, it has a smell, though. I'd try an actual garden center to get it, not a hardware store. It comes in a spray bottle.

Bunnies here love, love, love marigolds when you first plant them. I get the deer and rabbit spray for when the plants are little. Once they grow, they leave them alone.

Thank you very much. Now I have to try not to kill the plants with my black thumb. This is my first foray into the gardening.:)
