    NYC Get-together

Hi Ali, and welcome! I'm too new myself to help with suggestions on which Cathe videos to use, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of helpful suggestions. One thing you might want to do is to start a new post asking for help choosing your workouts. A lot of the regulars here might not be reading this...

    Chocolate Milk as sports drink!

I heard this on the news this morning! http://www.webmd.com/content/article/119/113227.htm I'm really excited--I LOVE chocolate milk. I use Skim Plus and Nestle's cocoa. Going to have some on my really long workout days.

    NYC Get-together

Very scarey. They were lucky that the only injuries were some broken bones. They had the bbq going on the deck--my cousin actually picked it up and threw it off to the side as the deck was falling, so noone was burned.

    SLOW day at work...

    >When I worked at the bank before Joey was born, I spent more >time on here than I do now that I'm a SAHM!:7 I felt guilty >at first but it went away quickly!!!:7 :7 :7 My last job was like that--really slow and horribly boring most of the time, but I hadn't discovered Cathe.com at that...

    NYC Get-together

<<There was a news story quite a while back that I had heard about a deck that broke b/c there was a party at the house and there were too many people on it (probably dancing, etc.)!!!>> This actually happened to my cousins about 10 years ago. They were having a bbq--no dancing--and their deck...

    Running

Also, probably an obvious suggestion, but diet soda or club soda are two other options instead of sugary soda.

    Training with thermal wear

Wow, I haven't heard of people doing that since the early 1970s! Maybe it's still around because it's something that high school wrestlers do to make weight for an event? It's really unhealthy, though, as previous posters have said.

    NYC Get-together

Aww, shucks, Melody. <Blush> Yup, I'm lurking, trying to find a way to kill time until the end of the day. I think a NYC GTG would be fun....where would we go? Someplace really fattening? :+

    SLOW day at work...

I normally don't come here at work, but it's just ridiculously slow today. So I am sneaking on, setting my screen tiny because I sit in an open area and everyone who walks by can see what I'm doing. Anyhow, I'm bored!!! Argh. I have double-checked and triple-checked everything that I possibly...

If I do enough wine drinking and chocolate licking, I will go anywhere! }( Late summer is a good idea.

    Questionf for the ice-skaters:

Sure, as long as you keep moving and get your heart rate up, it's definitely aerobic. Actually, one of my favorite things to do used to be to just practice my basic forward and backward skating, going around and around the rink. Guess I'm obsessive!

    Who here can ice-skate

Definitely buy your own skates if you're at all interested in skating--rental skates are a nightmare. I'd recommend going to the skating shop at your local ice rink. They should have some decent, not horribly expensive skates for recreational skating, and they should work with you to make sure...

    Who here can ice-skate

I used to teach ice skating and skate semi-competitively, but haven't skated in about 8 years now. I sometimes think about getting back into it, but I'd need a new pair of skates (think $$$$$), plus I'm just not sure I want to spend the money on ice time and lessons and getting back into it. I...

    Need Help / Skin Burn

I've had a lot of success using Bodyglide for chafing. I used to use Vaseline, but that didn't last all the way through the workout and also I had to wear ratty t-shirts because the Vaseline stained everything. Haven't had any chafing since I switched to Bodyglide.

    Heart Rate Monitor Question

I have an F11 that's less than a year old and it sometimes go zooey on me when I'm on the treadmill. Possibly from the tv, possibly from the HR monitor built into my treadmill's computer (I don't use that one anymore--wanted a separate monitor I could wear for all kinds of cardio). I've also...

    yoga/pilates rant

This is a really interesting thread. I can see where different types of workouts will give your muscles a different shape--eg, weight training might add more bulk; cardio leans you out. And that ballet dancer look also comes from, among other things, years of training to have great posture and...
