    Hypertrophy vs strength

Size versus density? Thanks for your response, Cathe. When we talk about "putting on" muscle, is this largely through hypertrophy training, or do strength and endurance training also add muscle to our bodies (perhaps density versus size)?

    Workout manager login problems?

roundabout way to get in My husband was able to get me in by doing the following: 1. Logging on to Workout Manager. 2. While the WM is doing the loading thing, clicking on my Username and going to my profile. 3. From my profile page, returning to Workout Manager (in a new window). Those of...

    Workout manager login problems?

Nothing is helping I've cleaned my cache, deleted cookies, cleared browsing history, made sure it is an allowed site and I am still having the same problem. I've tried my computer, my work computer, and my husband's computer - same issue. I've tried IE and Firefox. I just finished my last...

    Workout manager login problems?

same problem I've also been experiencing this problem since last night. It gets to the "One Moment Please" message and never goes any further. I've tried different browsers, different computers, rebooting, etc. I need to print out my workout card, so this is unfortunate timing. I rely on the...

    The "man-face"

I would guess it's a combination of sun damage and super low body fat, which can highlight the lines on the face. I've always disliked that over-tanned look. It just seems inconsistent with the picture of health and vitality that figure competitions are trying to convey. I know a lot of the...

    Shock Cardio: another Extended Stretch?

Hi Cathe and friends. I love the Extended Stretch in the STS DVDs and do it following every STS workout. It's really keeping me nice and flexible. I'd like to suggest doing something similar for the Shock Cardio series. That way, there could be 2 stretch workouts to alternate between when doing...

    Weight Loss supplements ???

Just want to pipe in and mention that a healthy vegan diet does not require protein supplementation. Vegetables are, in fact, an excellent source of protein (as well of lots of other good stuff). They are low calorie, so you can (and should) eat more. :D I know you mentioned specifically "vegan...

    Disc 19 CST

I had the same experience with the chest work - I could not push quite as fast as she could. But that's okay, we need to work at our own pace. That's what the remind button is for. ;)

What has STS taught you so far?

    1. I can lift much heavier weights than I thought. 2. There is a huge discrepancy in my relative upper body and lower body strength (more than average). 3. I need a squat rack! 4. Paper plates can really add a lot to a work out.

    Pull-Ups

resistance band for me too I also use a resistance band. I definitely think that I'm not working as hard as they are with the pull-up bars. However, I work on actively contracting my back muscles and I do feel like I get a benefit. I'm waiting for the release of the power tower.

Please keep the camera on CATHE during Shock Cardio

different POV I'd like to mention that I actually like seeing the other people exercising during STS. I appreciate that they have a different speed, which helps drive home the point that the workout should be at my individual pace, not necessarily Cathe's pace. I also like seeing the slight...

Need 3 STS questions answered please

Your rear end must be very useful at parties. ;) I'm not sure about the first question. There's probably a way to modify to change the focus of the exercise. Although, it may be that you are probably still getting plenty of leg work in there, but are feeling it more in the glutes. So, you're...

    Results for the guys?

thanks! Thanks kplv2ski. I'm so glad to hear that you are enjoying the program. It sounds like it is working very well for you. Men and women have the same muscles, and the program is customizable, so there's no reason that men could not benefit equally from the program (or more, just because...
