Hi mamas!
Kate--LOL at our thread's name! Too funny! Glad you're home and had a safe/fun trip!!

Hi to everyone else!!

So, I'm so happy this week because the boys are on spring break (hoping that I'm this happy at the END of the day! LOL). So far, they are playing so nicely with each other and even put on a "Spongebob Play" for Charlie and me, complete with background sets that they painted themselves. Too cute! It's too cold and wet here to play outside, but they are making the most of a dreary day! Hope everyone else is having a good week!

What are you guys' plans for Easter? Will the bunny be hopping to your houses next Saturday night? ;)

Kate - Welcome back! Hope your trip was fun!
Steph - My kids are going back to school today. Spring break is done and I am done! My DH is into the whole kettlebell workout and I tried a few. Autumn has done them and I know she liked them. You could pm and ask her.
Becky - When do you start your residency?
Wendy - How are you holding up? I think I fell in love with the baby jogger and might get that instead of the indie.
Maggie - Do you get a spring break with homeschooling?
Candra - I worry with the shots also and hate when Pomai gets a fever.

Hi to anyone I might have missed!

Waiting for the school bus to come. I did manage to get a couple uphill walks in despite no DH. The kids were good sports about coming along. DH comes home today, yay! This weekend was our 12 year anniversary. I feel old! We did marry young though ;). Anyway, can't wait to get back to working out now that he'll be home. I finally fit into a pair of my prepg jeans. A little more snug but at least the button closed. Now there is just one more pair I need to get into and that one is a gotta be at prepg weight to get into pair. Ok, gotta go now. Take older kids to bus stop, Pomai to her 5 month check-up - yay, no shots this time, and then off to get DH from the airport.

Lisa

Hi girls!!

Kate-glad you made it home and had a good vacation:)

Stephanie-I started w/ kettlebells and then found out I was pg w/Ryder. I stopped during pg except for swings. Now that I finished clx I am starting again. I really enjoy them:)

Lisa-Happy Anniversary!!:) Good job on fitting into your jeans:D I haven't even attempted to try any of mine on yet:confused:

We are just going to hang around the house today and be lazy:p I did get 45 min. in on the elliptical. Tomorrow we are going to my sister's house to dye easter eggs and let all the kids hunt them together. We won't see each other on Easter so we want all the kids to do something together.

Hope eveybody is having a good Monday:D

Candra

Hi ladies. Today was STS disc 4 again.

I have a confession to make, and I hope no one will think less of me or try to get me to change my mind...but I have to get this out. I am weaning Z...well, going cold turkey really. :( I won't be able to pump really as a resident (well, I suppose I could, but it couldn't be a regular schedule and some days impossible since residency is crazy and I don't want to have to worry about constant engorgement from going too long between pumpings...and I'd rather be very efficient with my work during the day and get home to Z quicker instead of taking pumping breaks and getting home later)

So, why cold turkey? When we were househunting a couple weeks ago I tried giving her a bottle and she wouldn't take it. I hadn't given her one since she was 1 week old and we were dealing with jaundice. I tried a few times this past week, both breast milk and formula, had DH give it, but she'd have none of it...so I'd give her the breast. I thought back to my Medicine & Behavior class and remembered the reinforcement concept: Reinforce every time and a behavior sticks quickly; reinforce randomly and a behavior takes forever to stick. I know Z is too young to be coniving or anything, but I think this is just natural...she just won't take a bottle if breast is available.

I don't want to wait too long because I don't want to be engorged the first few days on the job. I don't want to be engorged during the move. I could have waited until after the move but then thought it best to do here in the home and area Z knows best. Yesterday's 5am feed was her last breastfeed. DH gave her a bottle of breastmilk (I only had like 20 oz total stored and he wasted 5 oz when he put some into an improperly put together bottle) She fought him tooth and nail. The next feeding he tried breastmilk again but they fought so much for so long that the milk went bad. He then gave her some ready to feed Similac and I guess she was hungry enough because she took it! I tried to give her the next bottle but she wouldn't take it from me. :( So Dh did all the feedings yesterday. This morning I knew I had to feed her because DH was at work. She took from me! I've given her 2 feedings so far. So, we're over that hump. She's still peeing and pooping and isn't fussy today.

But boy am I engorged! I'm wearing cabbage in a snug sports bra (I smell awful), taking Pseudophed (the good kind you have to ask the pharmacist for and show your drivers license to get), 800 mg Motrin, benadryl at night, and drinking peppermint oil stuff (the kind you bake with...into water...absolutely disgusting...but chasing it with OJ makes the taste go away quickly) Yesterday was terrible pain wise and today is better (I was able to do my weights) but I still look like a post-partum porn star! I just hope they get smaller over the next 2 days because I have to go to Tallahassee on Thursday and give a talk (Grand Rounds) in front of the whole med school! I definitely can't wear cabbage then.

So Zoey seems happy and I am less depressed today about going to fully formula feeding. I'm cramping and starting to spot though. Figured that would happen. I didn't w/o over the weekend because of the pain...but I barely ate anything either because I was so sad. I'm better now mood wise.:)

On a happier note, I got my homeowners and auto insurance quotes for Ohio. Only $41/month for the home and my auto will decrease by 60%! It is so costly to live in Florida...so glad we're moving back to the mid-west.

I hope no one hates me about the weaning thing. I keep telling myself that I was fully formula fed before formula had DHA or anything in it, and I turned out okay.

Stephanie, I'm going to take Z to the mall to get pictures with the Easter Bunny either Friday or Saturday (I should be cabbage free then). We'll stop at a friend's house who has a white bunny first and try to get some cute springy 3 month pics. With the move, not only can I not afford professional ones, but we'll have moved before they come in. I'm putting together an Easter basket with books in it now...have the board books but still need a basket.

Lisa, my first day of work (starts with a week of orientation/paperwork/get to know you activities) is June 22nd. We move the 23rd, close the 27th, stuff arrives the 28-30th, go back to Florida for May 16 graduation, and then go back again to be in a friend's wedding June 6th! Happy anniversary!

Kate glad you had a safe and fun trip.

Hi everyone else
Becky

Candra, you snuck up on me! Good job on the 45 minutes. Ellipticals can give you a great workout in a short amount of time. Have fun being lazy around the house!

stephanie, too cute abt your boys!
our "spring" brea is snowed out!!! gr! i wanted to go to the zoo!
the bunny will be visiting here, then as per usual we'll go to church.

nice day here...appt then lunch out and groceries.
weights tonight! i missed em!

poor julias constipated. bought prunes to mash up for her. she was lovin' bananas but they not lovin her:(:(.
shes doing great on trying solids. started w/ barley, then swt potato, then bananas, bought zuke today to cook for her this wk. prunes 1st tho...that oughtta do *wonderful* things for us!:rolleyes::p:p:p

Becky-I don't think anyone here would think less of you for weaning. It is a tough decision and I am glad you are doing what is right for your family. I am glad Z is now taking the bottle, that must of been a stressful couple of days(((((HUGS)))))))) You are going through a lot right now and Z is going to be just fine:)

Candra

Kate-prunes always do the trick:p Can you freeze zucchini?? I was going to make a bunch, but maybe I won't if it doesn't freeze.

Weather here is weird too. It is supposed to get to 90 today, but the wind is so strong I can't take Ryder out. Tomorrow it is supposed to drop to mid 70's w/ rain. We were also supposed to go the zoo this week:mad:

Candra

c, ive frozen shredded zuke for bread but not pureed for consumption. it was a small zuke i bought so planning on fridge for leftovers, this girl loves her solids - such a relief! i love to watch a baby eat!:D
90!!!! crazy!!!

j woke up, nursed and conked out n'ing....i love her!!!
can i just be a baby factory for the rest of my reproductive yrs?:D:eek:

Thanks for all the kind words ladies! Zoey is taking to the bottle great today. I'm going to have to send dh out to the store to get more pre-mixed formula. We have the powdered same formula but the ready to feed is working so well I don't want to change too soon. I'd go but my chest smells like rotting coleslaw.

Becky

Becky--absolutely no judgements from me -- I bottlefed all three of mine after a pretty traumatic breast feeding attempt with my first. And so far they have been three healthy, happy little boys! Don't feel guilty at all-- you have to do what is best for you guys. Glad Z is taking the bottle well! :)

happy tuesday!

last night i did chest/sh.
today its tris and cardio

suffice to say chicago totally screwed up js great night sleeping:mad:.
at least theres no driving for pre-k this wk - intense sleep training ahead!

Hi mamas!

Kate--Maybe it's something to do with 6 months. Charlie has started waking at all hours of the night. We've been giving up and putting him in bed with us at 4 or later just to get some zzzzs. Wish this "phase" would end soon!! He used to sleep all through the night!!! :(

Hope everyone else is doing well! I'm still struggling to fit workouts in. The day is impossible, and I don't know when to fit it in at night. Guess I'll have to start doing them late again -- after kiddos go to bed. Wish I could get my big butt out of bed in the mornings to do it, but when I don't get to go to sleep until 4 a.m., it's kind of impossible. Ugh!!!! Anyway... enough of that... Hope everyone has a great day!!!

stephanie, how are c's naps? all was great here til chcago... usually takes 3 days to correct a sleep problem...hoping to have this resolved by the end of the wk. does your dh get up w/ him? its a solo act here....a little frustrating but i cant stand how tired mike gets so i just do it.
re wo's - i just make myself start at night...usually by the end of the wu im ready to go! maybe try to commit to 4-5 days for 3o min, even 2o min, then you wot feel so much pressure to pull of a nightly imax ????

hi all!

well i went to yoga again last night and it kicked my butt! again! i am really lovin it but dont know if my mil will really commit to sitting regularly on monday nights. she wants to take it one week at a time so fingers crossed for me, pls... right now it is passover prep time, getting rid of chametz. my older ds is very adamant that we do eveything by the book. lol. he did NOT learn this from me =) i think being a teenager things are still pretty black and white to him, you have to do it "right" ya know?

need to keep moving slowly back on the cardio train now that ive done 2x with no new aches... i can do something like TJ with lots of energy or a fun cathe step vid (like step blast maybe??) but with no step. dont think i should jump right back on the step just yet.

becky - no judgement from me. i would venture to say that there are not many nursing nazis here, at least not on this check-in, just like there are no clean eating nazis on this one either hehe =) you are doing the very best for your family and your life. and the amazing journey ahead of you, woweee!

kate, sorry for the change in sleeping habits =( of course i was wondering how you managed to get j to sleep so long in the first place! let me have somma that! jj actually slept more than 8 hours last night for the first time EVER, 7pm - 3:30am. lets see if he will repeat and i hope j gets back on schedule quick!

candra - i pureed and froze zucchini recently and it seems to be fine. usually i defrost 1 cube of something green like zuch and 2 cubes of something orange or yellow and mix it all together with some barley or rice cereal. he seems to prefer the weirder textures like zuch when mixed with other stuff anyway. so far so good...

stephanie - that sponge bob play sounds so cute! i was always an evening exerciser. so not a morning person and i always worked long hrs then came home to do dinner, homework, et al. what time to your older kiddos go down? just be careful not to wo too too late cuz it might keep you up.

lisa - baby jogger is nice too. i love to shop for other ppl... which model? what color are you thinking? im holding up ok. the weather really has affects me... when its yucky out i always get more bummed to be alone. or when im busy/stressed.

wendy

wendy yay yoga! hope you can keep going! i love to do group classes....not much offered around here tho. pretty small town - we onlyhave 1 stoplight! lol!
ive done step w/o a step on vacations - feels so funny!:D
hope jj continues to sleep well! i have a book i follow - healthy sleep habits, happy child by marc weissbluth. love it! i tried em all - pantley, sears, ferber.... this one worked!

the ssa office hasnt got j's ssn to me. gggrrrr. have to file an extension for our taxes. getting a lg refund.... would rather pay a little. need to change exemptions now w/ ju on the scene....

Hi ladies! Today I did SJP/SB step and hi-lo circuit 60 minute premix. I tacked on the abs from SJP.

I took a ton of springy/Eastery pictures of Zoey today. I think this is a direct link:
http://mcgilligan.us/wp/wpg2?g2_itemId=4152
The first ones are of her on her playmat then there are some outdoor ones. If that link doesn't work for some reason, you can use www.mcgilligan.us and on the right hand side expand the "Zoey" link and choose "April".

Wendy, when you saiud "nursing nazi" that reminded me of an episode I had last year during an OSCE (objective standardized clinical exam...a test where we have to do medical histories, exams, and counseling of paid actors pretending to have medical problems...there are cameras in the ceiling and we're critiqued and graded). In one scenario I had a 20 some year old guy about to go overseas and I was trying to get him to get some vaccines. There were quite a few he needed and he started to look pretty scared. I told him that he really did need them and I lightheartedly said that some might call me a vaccination nazi because I believe in them so much. That made him chuckle and put him at ease (my whole point in doing it). I was feeling pretty good about myself and that encounter until the doc grading me reamed me out and said that saying "nazi" is as bad as using the other "n" word and that his grandparents were in a concentration camp and he was really offended. I was taken quite aback....it makes me happy that you used it in a similar way that I did...and it sounds from your post that you are Jewish...so I guess that doc was crazy. He made me feel really bad like I was a racist or something...when I am definitely not. Ugh!

Kate, hope the sleep training works quickly.

Stephanie, I hope you are able to get more sleep soon too!

Becky

Becky, Oh, Zoey! Oh so cute!!!
:confused::confused: on the Nazi thing. Mike calls me a Nazi all the time! LOL! I suppose to those effected/affected (Stephanie help!) it would have more of an impact.
Great WO!

Headed down to do tris. Was going to do cardio too but I think I have too much payroll stuff to tend to.:mad::mad:
