Hello everyone,
I have never been able to "get into" Valentines Day, but I love to hear stories about what others do to celebrate it. Do you plan anything special with your partner/friends/family? Any memorable past stories? ![]() Have a great day, Natasha

We don't really celebrate Valentine's day, but we do a little bit. This year, I have to work til 9pm on Valentine's, so then it's home and to bed for me! We normally exchange a card a maybe a small gift, but nothing crazy expensive. We also normally get our son a card a little bit of candy.
Our anniversary is the 27th, our son's bday is the 17th, and we have some other family things this month, so it can get a bit expensive. One year he got me a card with an anatomical heart on it. YAY! no mushy crap for me. And one year we got each other the same card with a dead rat on it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Weird, but we go together!Nan |

My husband and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day either. We feel that it is so much better to receive gifts/surprises on days that you are not expecting them.
We will get each other a card. But that about it!!!! I enjoy when we do speacial things, just because!!! ![]() |

If it falls during the week we normally "celebrate" on the closest weekend. We will go out to dinner and exchange cards. I usually get a box of chocolates but we don't actually exchange gifts. We keep it very simple.
![]() It's basically just an excuse for the calories I consume that night NOT to count! ![]() ![]() ![]()

My husband and I make a big deal about our wedding anniversary. In addition, we also like to celebrate the day he asked me out as well as the day we had our first date. We don't go hog wild with those last two, but we'll acknowledge those special days with at least a small gift or a note. Since we make it a point to remember those 3 special days, Valentine's Day ends up being, for the most part, just another day for us. We might do a small gift or a card, like other people mentioned, or maybe go out to eat (nothing extravagant), but that's about it. I also like to scrapbook (in my not-so-spare time) so no matter what day it is - our anniversary, Valentine's day, the day he asked me out, etc - I always try to take a picture of us together, or even two or three pictures if I can get my husband to humor me.

We exchange cards and sometimes go to an inexpensive place for dinner on the weekend. Now if I were someone that received an expensive bunch of roses every year, I'd be swapping that for the Cathe preorder!
As it stands, I ordered anyway.![]()

my husband and i don't really celebrate valentine's either. we may, like others have said, go out to eat and exchange cards or something, but usually nothing expensive or anything, except for ocassionally. we usually do go on our vacation around our anniversary and also we usually won't do anything crazy for christmas or our birthdays. I know, we sound boring, but that's how we are, which is why occasionally we may buy each other something a lil more expensive than normal for valentine's. I think we are both so into our children, so that's why we don't do a whole lot with each other on holidays and things like that, and that's ok with us. but i do know that I LOVE THAT MAN!!!!! I am so blessed

My DH and I don't do anything special either, even for Christmas or birthdays (same like you, so call us boring also). Before our daughter was born, we would take a trip to the Caribbean every year. That was our "gift" to one another. Better than roses or jewellery IMO. Natasha

We've been married for 16 years, and we have never celebrated anything!! Even our anniversary is subdued...maybe dinner, maybe not. We just don't do stuff like that. We are not romantic or sentimental at all, but I think it's really sweet how some couples really get into celebrating certain days and anniversaries of things.

I have been married for 24 years and have only received roses on Valentine's Day from my husband once and that was the 2nd year we were married but only because I complained for not getting them the first year!
Every boyfriend I've had has always sent me flowers especially roses so I got use to getting them. We like others have mentioned don't exchange Christmas presents or do anything special but I'll bake a cake or buy a small one but that's about it. When my dad was alive he would always give me a single red rose on Valentine's Day and Sweetest Day, I really miss that! ...Cheryl |
