Have you ever heard of trochleaitis?
When I read, watch tv, dream I get really bad spasms and pain in the muscles that control the movement of my eyes. I've had an MRI and my opthimoligist still has no idea. He treated it like tendonitis but I've had this problem since early 2002. My eyes sight is 20/20 but when I get the spasms my vision blurrs.
Any idea? I've had to drop out of college and I've been resting my eyes and they aren't getting better!

Sorry if I'm not making since.

Reece. I'm sorry, but I haven't, despite the high volume of patients I've worked with. Obviously, it must be very rare if your opthamologist never heard of it. Well, let me check it out tomorrow, I have a lot of hospital resources available, even online, so as soon as I find something I'll PM you. Also, I'll check with some of docs around here to see. Hey , do you take any meds? let me know.

So, I suppose you can't watch TV or work online for long periods of time then?

Marla

I don't take any meds.
I can't watch tv for more than 15 min. b4 I have to rest my eyes.
During my last semestar in school, the obicularus oculi (sp?) trembled noticably and the muscles on close to the bridge of my nose stood out under the skin! Lateral movement causes the problems. Thats why REM is too much too!

Thank you!

Well, I never did find out anything important. Actually one specialist here basically said, sleep enough, eliminate caffeine & stress & also said he had seen good results with coral calcium as a supplement. Maybe you should try that. The thing is, yours sounds really severe. Especially when you can see your little muscle stand on end.

Also, he did say botox would help, but don't count on insurance to pay. And it's very costly.

Try the Coral Calcium , Reece & let me know. Dr Michael Mazahedi was the one that gave me the tip. He also acknowledged that there really is no fool-proof explanation.
