Pyruvate/The Pill/Weight Gain

Hi,

Does anyone out there know anything about the supplement called Pyruvate??? I read that it's supposed to assist in weight loss.

Also, what about diuretics? I'm on the Pill, and I always feel somewhat bloated and heavy. I've gained 5 lbs. since being on it, and I want to figure out a way to get back down to my pre-Pill weight. I still work out the same as I always did, but my appetite has increased noticeably, so I'm eating more!!!

Anyone else with the same problem???? Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe taking a diuretic would help with the water weight gain since the Pill supposedly causes water retention.

It's a vaginal ring you insert and it stays in up around the cervix for 3 weeks, releasing hormones. Then you remove it to have a period. Because the hormones are only released in the area they are needed, it does not have the side effects (bloating, depression and such) that the pill has and there is nothing to forget to take every day. The effectiveness like the pill is up around 98 or 99%. I wish I had a link to offer you, but I saw it last week so it is recent and had passed FDA clearance so it is available. I also heard a report about it on NPR.FDA CLEARS

Could you ask your doc to switch you to another pill, perhaps there are others out there that aren't as likely to cause a weight gain. I had the same problem with a hormone replacement pill, so I called the doc to get put on another one, and when he refused I GOT A SECOND OPINION!!!!!!!! That opition is always open to you. Like you, I was not happy with a weight gain. Getting off that pill enabled me to get back to my normal weight.

I have been on Depo (injection every three months) for about 8 years and always thought it was the source of my "last 5 pounds." After a beefed up exercise program this summer, I have lost 14 pounds and kept it off. But, I still have this strip of fat that runs from hip bone to hip bone and believe Depo to be the culprit since it basically tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant.
So, I am now on a pill that reportedly had no weight gain for women using it during their clinical studies. It's called Cyclessa and made by Organon. You may want to ask your OB/Gyn or midwife about it. I'll let you know how it works for me as I have only been taking it for a month.
