Ok, all you Mathematician!

See if you can solve this puzzle, which has nothing to do with Cathe but it is driving me crazy.


Scenario: There is a bus with 7 girls inside,
Each girl has 7 bags, Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats,
Each Big cat has 7 small cats, All cats have 4 Legs each!
Question: How many Legs are there inside the bus?
What is the total number of Legs?



Hint: Read this question very carefully……

I'll say there are 14 legs "inside the bus" (it doesn't say the bags with the cats are in the bus!).

The total number of legs is 7 x 7 x 7 x 4 (the big cats) + 7 x 7 x 7 x 7 +4 (the small cats) +14 (the girls) (I don't have a calculator handy!)

I'll say 14 legs inside the bus and 10,990 legs total - I think.

OK, I think I got it!! Is it 10,990 legs? I dunno, it just seems too big!!!

14 for the girls
1372 for the big cats and
9604 for the small cats

I've done this one before, and if I remember correctly, 10,990 is the correct answer, although people tend to quibble over whether or not there's a busdriver (thus adding 2 legs).

It's just straightforward math - no trickery or reading between the lines involved. Just need to keep good track of your numbers and have a calculator handy.

Otherwise just the girls =14

OK....here's MY scratch work.

POSSIBLE SPOILER if I'm correct in my answer:

DO NOT READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE MY ANSWER! LOL

Scenario: There is a bus with 7 girls inside,
Each girl has 7 bags, Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats,
Each Big cat has 7 small cats, All cats have 4 Legs each!
Question: How many Legs are there inside the bus?
What is the total number of Legs?

7 girls, 2 legs each = 14 legs
7 girls, 7 bags each = 49 bags
49 bags, 7 big cats each = 343 big cats
343 cats, 4 legs each = 1372 legs
343 big cats, 7 small cats each = 2401 small cats
2401 small cats, 4 legs each = 9604 legs

Legs:
14 legs from the girls
1372 legs from the big cats
9604 legs from the small cats

Add those all together

10,990 TOTAL LEGS in the bus (assuming there's no driver! LOL)
