I finally caved in and had to try this fruit called a grapple. The package says, "bites like and apple, tastes like a grape".... It's one of the weirdest thing I've every tasted. It looks like a small-ish apple but totally tastes like a grape! Very strange but delicious.
I think they must have graphed a grape-vine & apple tree together or something like that. Ya gotta try it! Pam |

I am so glad you mentioned this Pam. I love trying new food. My latest discovery is Broccolini. I am thinking a hybrid between broccoli and asparagus. Now I'm on a broccolini kick
![]() I am gonna look out for the grapple ![]() Natasha

My new veggie discovery is chayote squash. It's green and has a crispy texture like an apple or pear. Kind of tastes like a pear, too. It's so delish! Sent from my iPhone using CatheForum

I don't mean to burst any bubbles, but Grapples aren't hybrids. They're apples infused with "natural and artificial" grape flavoring. I've always been curious about them, though.

It cooks pretty fast, so I just steam it like any other squash or leave it raw and toss it in salads. I have also baked it in stuffed peppers and tossed it in with cooked lentils, beans and rice for tacos, letting it steam as everything else cooks. It's so versatile and neutral in flavor, and really soaks up whatever seasoning you are using. You can peel it with a potato peeler.

I am aiming to add new fruits and vegetables to my diet ... namely vegetables!
The broccolini sounds delish, especially sauted with the sea salt. The grapple sounds equally delicious. I'm adding both to my grocery list for this week. Thanks for the ideas!-- crossing my fingers that my Fargo, ND grocery store has these -- ![]()
