Default Burned out from Working Out

Does anyone ever get to this point? This week, it's been a no-go for me to do BMX2. My schedule changed a bit but I can't get excited to workout.

Hoping this changes soon cause it feels odd not hitting it about now.

Maybe you should take a week off and either do activities outside your home or just simply take a break from your workouts. That way you come back refreshed. It works..

Hi JT - you're not alone in feeling burned out from your workouts - its happened to me a couple of times. So if you need to take a break, then allow yourself a bit of time to regroup. Sometimes its not a physical limitation, but a mental one.

Maybe thinking about BM2 is hard for you because you know its a 90 minute workout, and its tough. Why not choose a different workout that you know you absolutely love to do - maybe because of the music, or certain moves. Or just do a pre-mix of BM2 that's shorter.

Or try something totally different, like spinning.

Or try making up a rotation for yourself that you feel excited about, choosing workouts that you know you really enjoy and have a big fun factor for you.

Anyways, these are just suggestions. Sometimes our brain needs a break along with our bodies. Don't feel guilty, just regroup then start again!

Jen,

That's what happens when you shovel a million inches of snow! Tough stuff.

Actually, this week has been TTOTM for me. I always feel tired, drained and weak (and yes, I do eat spinach everyday and up my protein, blah blah, blah). Regardless, I struggle with my workouts. I just have zero energy.

I'm no doctor, but the best thing you can do is listen to your body. When it says rest, then rest. You will know when it's time to kick it into gear again. Just go lie on the couch, turn on a movie and pour yourself a nice glass of wine. BM2 will be waiting when you are ready.

Thanks for your support and understanding. The shoveling has been a factor especially with my new volunteer schedule. My daily routine totally different but will help me in the long run. BMX2 is imitimidating but not like IMAX3 or Hardcore Extreme, those had me freaked. Hoping for the weekend to get back into it.

I think its completely normal to burnout on any workout or activity. That's when its time to change it up, and redirect your focus to something else for a while. Towards the end of the summer, I get weary of riding the same trails, and then along comes the Fall and now its time to ride those same trails at night (with light of course) and the whole sport has changed. Then along comes snow and swapping tires out to a more aggressive tread and skiing hopefully is behind that, which woefully hasn't happened because of this incredible lack of snow this winter. When I'm indoors working out, if I start to feel that ummm...what to do...its partly because I think I have too many workouts to choose from and not having a plan. You have to let yourself go too, there is nothing wrong with taking a week break and just hang out and recharge the soul.

Thanks, DirtDiva, for your understanding. Thinking about getting back to it again this weekend. More snow is coming so shovel max will be my added bonus.
