Any recs for weighted gloves?

Hi Everyone!

I need to get some weighted gloves and would really appreciate any recommendations you could give.

I need them for STS since I only have rubber encased dumbbells, but it would be nice to use them for kickboxing as well. Any suggestions for good quality gloves that would be appropriate for both options?

I just have the ones that I got with my Turbo Jam. They're 1# gloves and sometimes I also hold a 1# db in each hand also (my 4yo dd wanted her own weights, so we found the 1# *pink* ones of course!

Thanks Jess! I had thought of the TJ gloves, wondering if they would work for STS as well. I have the rubber encased weights so the platemates won't work for me. I'm hoping to find some that will allow up to 2.5 pounds per glove and still be able to hold a dumbbell. Does a glove like that even exist?

Nicole, for kickboxing I like the Ironwear gloves that both Kathryn and Heather mentioned on the other thread. You can buy them in the 1-lb-per-hand version or the 2-lb-per-hand, if you're just beastly strong. ;-) And they're on sale, too!

I also agree with Heather's observation that these Ironwear gloves would be too bulky on your palms to wear while lifting weights for STS. For that use, I think Heather's right that the Altus glove is a better bet. If you don't want to wait for the Fitness by Cathe version to come out, you can find that glove at Amazon:

That is exactly what I was looking for. I thought someone else must have asked this question, I just couldn't find it even with the search function.

Yes, I did see the ironwear gloves while surfing around, and my thought too was that they had weights in the palm and would not work for STS. But what great gloves for kickboxing! I will end up with those for sure. Thanks for the link for the Altus gloves...they will work perfectly! I don't have a complete set of dumbbells, so when I need to add to my set, I will get the metal instead of the rubber so I can use the platmates down the road.
