<---pulls out her chart on piggy reproduction and explains that piggies can get preggers at 3-4 weeks old. They then have a 59 - 73 day gestation period, which means that assuming Angie (the white pig) is preggers, she could have become so back at the beginning of January before she was given to me and she could still have several weeks to go before giving birth. When I bought Dharma to be a buddy for Angie, she was probably 2 weeks out from giving birth to Karma (which means she probably got knocked up back in December). I had no idea of course that she was preggers. Just thought she was a fat happy piggy.
<---says to let this be a warning to anyone looking to add a piggy to their family. Almost ALL pet stores keep all the piggies together PAST 3 weeks old. This means you have a REALLY good change of getting a 3 for 1 deal when buying a female piggy. ;)
<---adds that her other theory is that Dakota is romancing the pigs when she isn't home...
<---told DH that if one of the babies turns out to be black and tan with a long body, she's going to forbid Dakota from hanging out in the piggy room when they aren't home
<---tells Evily that you can have pigs fixed, but any surgery involving the little hams is risky, so it's better to just keep the boys in their crib and the girls in their's
