Hi Jessica! Perceived exertion is your own perception of your level of effort or intensity so it's not necessarily your heart rate. Generally, for aerobics, its said that you should be working between 5 and 8 meaning you're working hard enough that you can talk but don't want to. If you're higher then an 8, you probably think you're going to die (just joking) but your heart rate is too high and you can't even grunt. If you're below a 5, you may be sweating but can easily carry on a converstion which probably means you're not working hard enough. I hope that made sense.

The IMAX2/C&W DVD does not have the music option, only the Body Blast DVD's do. Also, IMAX2 is one of my favorites so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. :-) :-)

Hope that helps!

Edited to add: A 1 means you're watching the video and not doing it! :-)

Great! For me, I think since I've been working out for a lot of years, I pay more attention to my perceived exertion then my heart rate. This isn't true for everyone, but I know for me, I know where I need to be (and it works for me!). :-) :-)
