I don't have the high step. Do you think the workouts would be effective with just the regular step? I just didn't want anymore equipment.

I think it really depends on your goals for the workouts, there are some workouts that you don't really need the High step, then still others that you almost have to have it esp.. to get to the intensity level needed for the workout.
I was not sure if I really wanted the high step, but now that I have one I really love it!!!
