I love afterburn - and if you like athletic training, then I would think that you will love afterburn, too. Doesn't huge a step and is an intense workout. Really burn a lot of calories!

I second that! If you love AT you will love AB! Both are a must have.

Afterburn provides more cardio work than Athletic Training, which is a blend of cardio and strength. I find the cardio segment in Athletic Training, which lasts about 7 minutes, tougher than anything in Afterburn but the cumulative cardio work in Afterburn exceeds what is in Athletic Training. Afterburn is a challenging but fun workout. Afterburn doesn't involve a step or firewalker bands, and there is no floor work. It's just 10 pairs of drills using hand weights, sliding disks, or no equipment. Each pair of drills is repeated but there's an express premix with single drills, and this premix is a good way to learn the program. I prefer Afterburn over Athletic Training. Both are good workouts but Afterburn seems to go faster for me. Cardio Supersets is another good workout. It's not quite as tough as Afterburn but it's a good workout.

Afterburn, like mentioned, seems more cardio based. I'm on my STS rest week and did Afterburn yesterday and today I am feeling every muscle in my hips (in a good way). This workout is a real sweat factory, by the end, my floor is slippery. I don't find this with Athletic Training. Have you tried High Reps or High Step Challenge yet?

I agree Afterburn is a sweat fest, even more so for the Double Trouble premix which is intervals 1-10A and then 1-10B, with less pauses btwn intervals.
My heart rate is up at the beginning of Athletic Training but really drops during the middle of the workout. So, I do the AT Extreme premix which does the step cardio twice and omits a few of the bicep isolation exercises. It still has the firewalkers, some tricep work, pushups and some overhead presses so I definitely get more strength training but it keeps my heart rate up alot longer. |

I discovered the AT extreme premix about a month ago and like the mix a lot but I cannot make it through the cardio drills without pausing. I never attempt it unless I am feeling strong. I've been hoping to work up to the point where I can make it all the way through without stopping but I sometimes wonder how realistic that goal is. Can anyone else make it through? Stacy? I have the utmost admiration for anyone who can.

I never do premixes, so thank you for the challenge, CommittedtoFitness! I did the Athletic Step Extreme today and WOW. I was a sweaty mess. I made it through without stopping but know my legs will not be happy with me tomorrow!!!
