Strength Losses Over a Rotation?

I'm getting ready to start a new strength rotation and I'm curious if you have any advice for the problem I run into each time.

Somewhere between 3 and 5 weeks into it, I always get to the point where I'm not recovering well. For instance, if I start a rotation able to do 12 weenie pushups, by that point, I won't be able to do 6 weenie pushups and my whole body feels like lead. If I start at 8 lbs for biceps, I'll be down to 5...maybe even 3.

I'm not sore...just lead...and weak.

I take my rest days. I get a fair amount of sleep. But, I admit my eating is terrible.

Any guess as to what causes this problem? Is it something I should just try to work through? Or should I take a week or two off at that point (that's what I usually do, but then I usually "forget" to restart).

Any helpful tips that might get me past the crash would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Laura! We all respond to exercise differently. It sounds like you simply need more recovery time. I would definitely suggest eating better and then keeping your rotations to 4 week increments, with one week of rest in between. Good Luck!
