Rest days

Hi Cathe,

Is it really necessary to take a day of complete rest each week? I really just feel a lot happier doing some form of exercise every day. As long as I alternate easy/hard days and do not weight train on consecutive days, is that okay?

not cathe but i think light cardio, yoga, or pilates would be fine to do on you rest day. you don't have to sit on your butt all day on your rest day (i usually do;) ) just do something light and not as intense as other workouts in the week.

I think your body will see more gains, and your muscles will have time to recoup, if you give yourself a day of rest. Certainly, a stretch max segment or stretching-based yoga will be okay. Usually listening to your body will give you the heads up (or down) on working out. I think there is an increased chance of burnout (and injury) if you workout every day with no breaks. You may want to search this thread because Cathe has answered this question before. Take care:)
