Maintenance Mode?

Hi Cathe and educated crowd,

Currently I am at a point that I believe I could not hoist my barbell any heavier over my head for leg work without risking injury to myself. The current load does not feel as challenged, for strength type workout. My choice is either staying at the current weight load, or getting either a squat rack or weighted vest. If I choose to stay at my current load, does that mean I will be in the 'maintenance' mode? Does that mean I have to do more reps (endurance type) since lower reps (with the current load) does not feel challenged? Will I loose any strength gains? Any suggestions besides getting a weighted vest or squat rack?

TIA!

Hi Haslina! Change the order in which you do your leg exercises to shock your muscles out of their comfort zone. Also, try doing your leg presses first to pre-fatigue the legs. You will most likely find that it is now much more challenging to squat your current weight. Good Luck!
