High Reps question

First off, CONGRATULATIONS Cathe on being inducted into the Fitness Hall of Fame. You certainly deserve it!

I have a hard time gaining muscle and definition. And my body seems to hang on to fat for dear life. I do eat nutritious foods and try to keep my calorie range between 1400 to 1500 and exercise 5x/week. Anyway, I read somewhere that my body type should do high rep exercising to burn fat. What do you think of that idea? Or is lifting heavier with less reps better because of muscle burning fat? Or does it even matter? I have tons of your DVDs that I have collected through the years and love them all! Again, congratulations and thank you in advance!
