Default It has been a long time since I posted...

I am 53 and had been in shape for a long time, due to medication and emotional issues I put on some weight and am struggling with getting rid of some bad habits that I let creep in. Trying to get back in shape is not as easy as maintaining! I am adjusted to the medication now and feeling good mentally however, I am pretty disgusted with myself for letting myself go so far - anyway - my question is in your opinion would it be better to do the Low Impact Series Rotation you have posted or the STS/LI Combo for quicker/better results. Or maybe follow one with the other. I am on the fence and cannot seem to decide so I am hoping for some insight. Thank you! And please ignore the 13 lb gained thing at the bottom that is VERY old and I cannot remember how to take it off - I actually have gained way more than that

Hi. First of all, I think we can all relate to life getting in the way..so good for you that you want to get back on track.

My personal opinion is not to do the STS along with it and that's only because I just completed STS 1 and 2 and sometimes that makes me stronger, but doesn't show up on the scale. They are GREAT programs, but why beat yourself up some more? ha ha.

I find I'm right now doing the LIC with a little Imax thrown in for allout cardio.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your response!

Did you have a change in inches after STS 1 and 2? Are you working on weight loss and increasing your metabolism or changing your body composition? I don't necessarily care what the scale says as long as I am getting in shape and getting smaller - you said you got stronger -- did you stay the same size?

Please pardon all the questions I am curious

Hey Kathy

I actually just posted this in another thread to someone today, but thought it could apply here:

" FWIW I rarely ever lose weight during STS, but I come out of each rotation wearing smaller clothes, and with awesome body re-composition. Case in point, I now "weigh" about 22-25 lbs more than I did in high school, but wear the same size. Never underestimate the power of packing on the lean muscle mass... "

Don't know if that helps or not , I know everyone is different. But that has been my experience. I'm doing STS again now (& LIS). So I say, if you're not concerned with the # in the scale, go for it , since that's the #1 reason why many shy away from STS.... But if you just gotta see the scale move, you may wanna leave it out for now...

You're welcome, Kathy. Maybe you could keep us posted, and let us know what you decide, and your results? It would make your post very informative for others that have the same question and want to know what options have worked for others

I will do that - I will make my decision tomorrow - I am off work and it seems like a good time to put a pencil to it

Default My Decision

My major focus needs at this time is everything I need to focus on weights (strength), cardio capacity, fat loss, endurance, conditioning, balance, flexibility, and clean eating - I think that covers it. The new LI Series has a lot of every thing I need however, I believe that right now I should do some total body weight workouts instead of splits - as I get stronger I will incorporate splits. I also have some big time constraints. I commute approx 4 hours a day right now so I have to use my time wisely. I would love to do STS and LI but I just do not have the time right now to be consistent with it.

I modified Cathe's LI Rotation and will use the Total Body Trisets Premix on Saturdays when I have more time along with STS Total Body and High Reps - I will alternate them with cardio and will do Yoga on my rest day which is Friday. I am also going to throw in Kettlebell drills in the evenings when I can for a little boost - probably about every other day depending on what my little ones home work needs are.

I am not sure where I will post my progress/results - hopefully in the Success Story section but I have a long way to go....... maybe in the Discussion Section......
