Does Bikram yoga replace cardio?

I do Bikram yoga off-and-on. I love how challenging it is, and how much I sweat in it, but I was wondering, as a very intense workout, can it replace cardio workouts?

On the one hand it seems it could -- I could content myself with it being my only workout for the day...plus it *does* get your heart rate up...however, I think it's mostly from the heat. With that in mind it feels like depending on Bikram yoga for my workouts might not be a good idea b/c it won't challenge my muscles the same way a step workout or a nice jog would. But I'm not sure...

I ask because I *want* to do Bikram yoga more regularly, but b/c of the time commitment, I would be doing it at the cost of sacrificing other cardio workouts. Or maybe I should just stick to doing it 1x or 2x a week?
