Cathe-What is the optimum timing for fueling my workouts?

I have just FINALLY shed 17lbs that have been hanging on for the past 5 years. I dialed down the intensity of my workouts and put 100% effort into changing my eating habits. In the past I couldn't seem to handle focusing on both at the same time! So, I am now ready to get back to my Cathlete status and want to make sure I am fueling myself with the best strategy before and after my workouts. I run, so I know from past experience that long runs start with the fuel from your dinner the night before and end with the after run meal, but I'm not sure how to apply the correct timing to my everyday exercise. I guess it all boils down to me not wanting my old cravings to come roaring back and wanting to finally treat food as fuel, not an indulgence. I have never eaten this clean before in my life, I'm turning down food that I could never have resisted before, and I feel so strong! I don't want to lose that. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.
