Default Not taken to newest posts

For quite a while, I've had the problem of clicking on the "show newest posts" icon in front of a thread, and being taken to posts I've already read: either to the first post or to another post that was "new" a day or two previously. On some threads, I've been taken to the first post several days in a row.

Also, I've also had problems with threads that don't have any new posts being marked as having new posts, so when I click on 'show new posts' in that thread, I not only get taken to a post I've already read, but after scrolling down, I discover that there are no new posts.

All this unnecessary scrolling and clicking is getting to be very annoying.

Help!

TIA

The new posts search doesn't seem to work correctly for me if I didn't log out the last time I was on the site. I get similar to, but not exactly, what you have described. Try logging out each time (which is annoying because you then have to login each time), but maybe that will help the new posts search work better for you.

Thanks, Kathy.
That makes sense!
(Though I'd think using "mark forum as read" feature would take care of it as well...but it doesn't seem to.)
ETA: It seems to be working! Thanks again.

Well, that seemed to work for a while, but now I still have problems with threads a ways down showing me there are unread posts, and when I click on the thread, I"m not taken to a new post, but to a post I've read earlier, and when I scroll down, I see there ARE no new posts .

SNM: help!

SNM, are you out there? Any ideas? The logging-out thing only seems to be working part of the time.

I'm still having this problem, whether I log out or not.

SNM: some help, please?

I'm not really seeing any issues, though I've never really liked the way the forum auto marks threads as read. The software uses an Inactivity/Cookie Based system - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies. At this time I just don't have answer for you, but will investigate further when time permits.

Well I am having this issue as well and it just started either Thursday of Friday last week.
This is happening with my social group. It keeps taking me back to the post for "04-13-2009 02:37 AM ".

And then I have to navigate myself back to the current post.

Did you guys make any software changes recently?

Default Post sort order

When you click on a "forum" at the bottom you will see selections to change the order of how threads are displayed. We haven't done anything lately update wise which would affect the sort order.
