How to delete your profile?

Hi there, I have been trying to find out how to delete my profile from here. I cant find anything on the user control panel. Can anyone help me?

If you go to User CP you can edit your profile. No actual delete button but you can remove each item from the profile. Joan

Thanks Joan, but I wanted to remove my name completely. Normally on a website where people register their profile they should be able to completely remove it at any time, so it does not show up in search listings. That is standard procedure and respect of privacy. I am trying to contact Cathe administration - I will let you know the outcome.

You can't delete a profile, only the information in it.

Thanks for the reply. I believe you should offer the option to delete your profile as standard procedure - for privacy reasons and also as repect to your members. Every website I have ever been a member of allows this. Is there any reason why a profile can't be deleted? Is it possible to contact the webmaster to remove it from your database?

This is not an option with VBulletin. There is no way for even an admin to delete a profile as the software does not allow this. To be honest I don't see any reason why this would be a privacy issue for you. You have complete control over the information in your profile.

Belinda, can you change the name on your profile to something else? Then it wouldn't be "you". I can understand you not wanting to have the whole world see where you hang out online.

BTW, I think your request to be able to delete your whole profile is perfectly reasonable.

Thanks so much Stebby! I appreciate your support very much. Your idea is good - but unfortunately there is no option to change your user name. I partly blame myself for using my real name in the first place, in good faith that just like other members site users can delete their profile. It looks like this website makes it impossible.

I think I didn't understand you correctly. A user can not remove their profile page, but you can contact support and have your account deleted and then just re-register using a user name instead of your real name. This will delete your profile page with your real name.
