Default STS - Bowflex newbie question

Hi!
I am thinking about starting the STS fitness program. I do not intend to purchase a bench and barbells and lots of weights. However, I own a Bowflex XTL home gym system with 310 lbs of weight. Has anyone managed to convert the STS excercises to the Bowflex machine?

Yes, I only use the Bowflex for all the weight exercises in the STS programme. The bowflex weights work really well with the programme.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have any problem modifying the exercises to Bowflex? I am not familiar with STS yet. Is there any exercise that you cannot perform with the Bowflex? Which Bowflex do you use?

Hi Csaba,

There hasn't been any exercises I haven't been able to do with the Selecttech weights. The only one that is slightly awkward is the cross body tricep extension because of the size of the weight. When Cathe uses a barbell for bicep curls etc I just just the Selecttech weights. I have the bowflex version and they go up to 40kg which I'm guessing is about 88pounds. Message me anytime if you want to know more.

I have an older Bowflex model that I have used with STS. I mainly used it on Mesocycle 3. It goes to 310 lb. I used it for squats. Tried front squats but finally decided that a barbell was better. I could not do lunges with it but I think newer models had a larger base to stand on so it may be doable. I went through the exercise manual and found moves to use to coincide with what was on the workouts. Upper Body moves were pretty easy to find similar exercises for. I got the select tech weights with stand for Christmas and I love them too. I have used the Bowflex a lot for Slow and Heavy too.
