How to add 10% to 15# dumbbells ...

I have a set of plate mates, which means 4 mates at 1.25# each. Are there smaller weights? If I need to add 10% onto 15# dumbbels that would be 1.5# not 1.25#. This may seem a bit picky but those micro changes really help me.

microloads

A 1/4 of a pound will not really matter. The dumbbells you use are probably off by as much as a 1/4 pound anyway. Also, a 1RM test has a degree of error greater than 1/4 pounds. Just use the weight that is as close as possible.

Yes, there are platemates that are 5/8 pound.
PaceMates are magnetized weights that are .5 pounds each.
And you can sometimes find big magnets in hardware stores that vary in weight.

I have the 5/8-lb PlateMates that Kathryn described, in addition to the 1.25-lb Platemates as well. I do feel the difference with the 5/8-lb'ers on my 25-lb dumbbells as well as my 30'lb'ers and 35-lb'ers for my various drills.

I say, if you've got the scratch right now, go ahead and invest in a set of PlateMates or PaceMates at those weightloads. I think you'll find plenty of uses for them.
