I am almost done Meso 1 and the Heaviest DB I am using is 30 lbs for deadlifts & leg press. Do I have to get heavier than that for Meso 2 & 3?

I used 35 and 40lb for one arm rows and a 45lb db for plie squats (alternating hands).

Should I get 1 or 2 of each pair?

It depends, if you want to up your weight for deadlifts and squats, you should buy in pairs, but you could also use a weighted vest in addition to dumbbells to add weight instead.
I would think you need a pair of 35's, but what do you think you'll need for 1 armed rows? If it's 40, just buy 1 40, then if you want to increase your weights for leg work, you could always buy the second 40 pounder. I stopped buying at 35's, I may consider buying 1 40 pound, but I'm not going to get too hung up on doing everything to the absolute max, if there are a couple of exercises I am a little light on, so be it, those dumbbells get very pricey in the higher weights, and outside of STS I just don't use that kind of weight, I rarely even use the 30's and 35's outside of STS workouts. |

You are right I don't think I'll be using 40's with other workout. I will get a weighted vest instead. Where to buy one that is not too expensive?

I have 2 vests, 1 is the Cathe 10 pound xvest, which is great and comfortable, but it's only 10 pounds, great for some stuff, but not enough for others.
So I bought one of those big adjustable vests that can go up to 40 pounds and has these removable 1 pound weights, unfortunately mine has to be put on over my head, I will probably start using it again for Meso 2, but it's a workout in itself putting it on and taking it off. Here is a 40 pound adustable from Walmart that goes on like a vest. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ndingMethod=rr , this one is only $72, not a bad price. Cathe, also has a20 pound vest. I bought my Cathe vest at Walmart online for an incredible price quite a while ago. If you search for Cathe on Walmart you will find both the 10 pound and 20 pound. I would do some price comparisons though elsewhere. |

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P60ZZC With shipping it was $84. I have only used it to do weighted assisted pull-ups but the sides of the vest have velcro straps so even though I have to put the vest on over my head, the sides being open really help make it easier. The removable weights are 2.5 lb instead of 1 lb in this.

Also if you dont want to buy another pair of dumbbells and want to "make" your own I did this recently- got some super super strong magnets (cant believe these babies) and some 1.25 , 2.5 and 5 lb barbell plates ( all metal dumbbells and barbells plates used) and glued the magnets on the plates, yippee new adjustable dumbbells weights. Now Im eyeing other things I can glue the magnets on to make my other dumbbells more adjustable
