Arthritis in Knees

My orthopedist told me to only exercise my legs using the exercise bike, elliptical or treadmill. I have STS on order. My question is if I cannot do the leg routines should I skip a day and then go on to the next rotation or should I just workout extra long on the machines for leg day?
 
Having knee problems is awful. You have my deepest sympathy.
The excercise bike, eliptical and tread mill are all low impact aerobic activities.

Ask him if there are stretches or resistance excercises he can recommend which will help support the knee and help keep space inside the joint.

Also, Yoga for Healthy knees is a really cool book and might offer suggestions for stretches which will help eleviate knee pain.

Run some ideas past your doctor and see what he says and ask him about physical therapy options.
