Morning Ladies -

Where the heck did the weekend go? I forgot how short they are when you are working! Yikes. Yesterday, I was feeling sore all over and never thought I'd be able to work out this morning....but I did. I did my Jillian book circuit Frontside. This one was actually not too bad. I cut my cardio segments down to 1.5 minutes instead of 2....but because you only do the circuits 2 instead of 3 times this week, I got done in 50 minutes and that was with the stretch. I burned 300 calories. Tomorrow's looks harder.

I'm sort of running late....so I'll have to read yesterdays thread and post again later......sorry.

Goodmorning ladies,

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday.
I was up early - and headed over to the pilates class that I used to take in my old neighbourhood. It was great to be back at it - as I hadn't been to class since- probably - May. I am very sore in my back and legs today. Then I went by my folks house and visited for a bit - and also took my mom shopping. I headed home to do some tidying up.... and DH told me that his mom was expecting us for dinner... I didn't mention that my folks live about a half hour to the west of us... and DH's parents live about a half hour to the east of us....So - of course we went over there for dinner - and got home fairly late.

Today I am going to go out for another walk - and also want to check out a yoga studio nearby here. I may take a hatha class that is offered at noon. I was reading their schedule online - and it is very neat that they offer several different styles... ie - hatha, ashtanga - as well as kripalu, mysore, and hot yoga. I hope it ends up that I like it -as it is too far to go to my old studio.

Lora - LOL re the weekends going by fast... They do indeed. I can't get over the planks and 6lb weights on your back. You are incredible! Is the Acacia dvd an anusara practice? I have also been eyeing the new John Friend collection - he has a set of four on his website that look interesting. As well - am so happy that your Sunday is your own now... and you don't have to spend it searching for jobs online. So - how did you spend your weekend?

Christine - Glad you enjoyed the parties. It sounds fun - even with the loud teenagers - lol. How was your flow class? It's great that you have a favourite yoga instructor.... I think I became interested in yoga due to the passion of a very good instructor. I had tried it years before - and thought it was too new age and hokey... When I found this particular instructor - she really inspired me to practice more. Hope you enjoyed.

Kel - Great stuff on doing so well in the race. Have you been rowing for a long time - or was this something you did for the charity event? 19 years - wow! That is really nice that you and DH are so happy.

Jen - I am glad that your marriage has gotten stronger as the years have passed...and truly representative - to your and your DH's commitment to one another. I am not going to say that my DH and I haven't had our moments - but they seem to come and go - and we tend to forget fairly easily. We chose Aruba bc we wanted to go somewhere south to just relax - but we didn't want to deal with crazy heat and humidity. The island of Aruba has a constant breeze that you never feel the heat. It is actually quite deceiving - as your skin can still burn - yet you don't realize until it's too late. I had spf 60 or 45 on the whole time!! We swam, took long walks, had nice meals and also gambled a bit at the casino. We also went into town a few times a did some shopping. I am not a strong swimmer - and so I wasn't up to any of the typical watersports etc.. and really just wanted to take it easy.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Yve

Good morning Yoga Ladies!

I’m actually more sore from my yoga class yesterday than I was from my 8 mile run! He really stretched us out well – especially in the back area. It feels good now that I’m up and have blood flowing, but I was rather stiff this morning when I got up! Today is a 3-4 mile run. I didn’t get it in this morning, so it will have to be this afternoon over lunch.

Lora – I never know where the weekends go. They are WAY to short!

Yve - I love live pilates classes. They are so much better than videos. I hope the new studio works out for you! My class was wonderful. I think I’ve even talked DH into going with me next week. It was just what I needed after my run. I’m ready for another one today.

Jennifer – I haven’t gotten the Eion Finn workout yet. It’s actually back ordered through Amazon. I’ll let you know as soon as I get it. I’m going to revisit my Bryan Kest some day – just to see if my opinion changed. I sometimes find that if I go back to something after a while, I like it better. I’ve been running for a while now. I did this half last year, and decided to try it again. I figure if I have to walk some of it, I walk it, no biggie. I think the best thing for a beginning runner to do is to go slow and build up time/mileage slowly. It can take some time to be running distance, but you can do it. How’s your program coming along? How far/long are you walk/running? What’s the split? That is sooo cute about Tigger! I would think he would energize you. Thanks for the info. When I go back to weights, I’m thinking I want something lower weight with more body weight influence. We’ll see.

Kel – Oh, the race sounds like FUN! CONGRATS on the win over the defending champs! Sorry you did not make it to the final 12. I love the cause, too! How wonderful for you!

Well, back to work. No yoga for me today as I slept in, but tomorrow! And my yoga instructor has a 7AM class on Wednesdays that I might be able to attend after a run, so that would be fun. We’ll see. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good afternoon!

This morning, I started out with the HST warm up & all cardio premix, followed by PUB, abs first. I was finally able to match Cathe in weights again so I'm really happy about that. I'm still pumped from the Dragon Boat Races & of course, it's been the talk of the office today too. I wish we could do it again this weekend! The best part is that the event raised over $91,000 for the Children's Hospital & that's what it was all about.

I forgot to give y'all an update about my FIL when I posted yesterday so here goes. We went to visit him yesterday & he seems to be doing okay. Not really better but okay. He sleeps a lot but he can get up & walk to the bathroom by himself. He's also been moved out of CCU but now they're treating him for MRSA Syndrome, a rare form of staph that's antibiotic resistant, so he's being given a very strong medicine intravenously that's not only terrible for the kidneys & liver, it's also well known as a "last resort drug". He's not quarantined, which seems strange if he really does have a truly infectuous disease & since we haven't talked to the doctors directly, we don't really know what his diagnosis or prognosis is. I'm a little uncomfortable with the information we've received (or not received) from my MIL & the idea that he's being given such a strong medication so my DH is planning to request a meeting with the doctors soon. My DH also went to visit him today & said he seemed to be doing okay.

Lora - I always think the same thing when Sunday evening hits. It's like the weeks crawls by but the weekend flies - LOL! Looking forward to hearing how your second week is going. Great workout this morning!

Yve - I've never taken a live pilates class. The yoga studio I've been to before does offer some pilates classes but when I have the opportunity to go, I always take yoga. I hope you like the new yoga studio. Please check back & let us know how it goes.

Christine - I usually end up a little sore from a live yoga class for some reason. Maybe the instructor has us hold the poses longer or something? Great job on your 8 mile run! I'm not much of a cardio fan but I do enjoy my Cathe's & I recently started doing Cardio Coaches too & I love them! Who would have thought that an audio program would make me love my treadmill? LOL! In fact, I did Vol. 4 when I got back from the boat races on Saturday.

Jen - Hope you're having a good day & hope you get a chance to check in later. You asked some questions about the dragon boat festival yesterday so I'll try my best to answer them here. The boats look like really long canoes & they are decorated with a dragon head on the front & a tail on the back. The boats hold 20 rowers, a drummer on the front (facing the rowers), & a coach on the back. All of the boats are pretty much the same & you just get whichever one is available when it's your time to race. I imagine that the pros have their own, though. Funny you should ask about food because there were bagels, muffins, danishes, mini-quiches, bananas, & apples for breakfast. I ended up eating most of a bagel & then half of a cheese & egg quiche a little later. Then, they cooked out for lunch & had cookies & homemade brownies. I think I had my fill of sweets over the weekend. I don't know if there is anything online about the event but I plan to upload some photos to my picuretrail & then I'll see if I can post one here. If not, maybe I can just make it my avatar for awhile.

No yoga for me yet but I plan to fit some in tomorrow evening since my DH has a meeting to attend & I hope to fit more in later this week, maybe Friday depending on how my workouts go.

Well, I better go. I have tons to do & I'm totally unmotivated today for some reason. I know I'll feel better if I get something - anything - done, though, so I better go for now. I'll try to check back in later if I get a chance.

Finally got a minute to myself to get online. You ladies are really keeping up on the yoga. I just can't find enough time for anything when I get home from work. I've still been trying to make some money selling my oils cuz I don't get paid for 3 weeks.

Gotta get ready to watch GH. I missed it all last week cuz I couldn't stay awake to save my soul all last week. Hopefully, I'll be able to tonight. I'm a bit concerned about my new job cuz the one girl that does the same job as me was supposed to leave to get a teaching job (she's the one that's training me) and she's changed her mind and decided to stay with the office. I hope they are planning on keeping both of us! I'm not sure if I was hired because she was planning on leaving or not. The fact that I don't have a work place of my own scares me also. The office has grown so much and as soon as the beauty shop in the front of the complex moves out, our office is supposed to be expanding....so hopefully I'll have my own computer and desk at some point?? I was totalling up bills on the floor today and I worked in the kitchen off and on (by the big bag of candy.,..YIKES)...LOL! I was learning billing today.

Hi ladies! Just popping in for a short one tonight. Tonight's WO was PLB. I swear all these other videos are actually helping my heavy lifting. I went 5 lbs over Cathe on all the barbell exercises. I am still a wuss at the stability ball section and did those exercises on the floor :(. I was still sore in the torso region from Squeeze today, but I definitely got results from it and will do it again later in the week.

Christine-I had worked up to jogging for 2 songs and walking for 1 song over the course of an hour sometime in June, but my workout calendar for July and August was pretty sparce so I lost a little bit in cardio capacity. When I went out yesterday, I ran for one song 3 times during 40 minutes. I seem to have trouble pacing myself and tend to burn out too quickly. It's tough to get that right in the beginning.

Have a great night ladies!
