Good Morning,

A beautiful fall type day here. Just took the dogs for a walk, and all is peaceful and calm. Next is going out for groceries for the week, the play was great, I love musicals. Then we went to a local favorite place for dinner.

I sure hope someone else drops by or else I will be

Hi Deb,

I guess it's just you and I. I went to state line and Vegas this past weekend and overslept this morning. I was up late on Friday and Saturday and I paid for it!

I'm not a party animal anymore! My DS is visiting, so I won't be able to workout today.

I will be back later.

Josie

You would think that puppy class and being up all evening would make her sleep.....no...not this little vixen. We did get confirmation though that the smaller the dog, the harder it is for them to "hold it" a longer time. Yeah, I could have told them that.

Josie, what is state line? a casino? No, I was never a party animal and am sure not one now! Any time I go to bed after 10:00 pm I am exhausted.

Joan, how are you doing these days?

Off to get ready for work, take care,

Hi Deb and Josie--

Just got back today at about noon. I'll give you a real post tomorrow. The wedding was beautiful, the tea ceremony fascinating, the challenges for the groom and his groomsmen by the bridesmaids hilarious, the dancing wild, and the weather glorious. Had a great time. Always crazy stuff going on at weddings.

Sorry Keegan is still having problems Deb. I'm out of my essential-c again if you want (or have time) to check ebay for some deals. Vixen seems to be quite a handful or nightful, as the case may be.

Josie, I envy your California home. We were blown away by Muir Woods National Park and the drive on Pacific Coast Highway took us by some glorious vistas next to the ocean--especially Davenport and Half Moon Bay. Would love to go camping some day in Butona State Park.

Morning gals,

Up at 4:15, she did sleep until then, which is the longest she has gone without me having to take her out. Maybe her bladder is growing, finally. Supposedly the smaller the bladder, the longer it takes for the development of the muscle structure to "hold it" longer.

John's surgery is moved up to Friday, ( he was scheduled for Monday Oct 3rd). I'm glad because, well he really wants this done but also because I am leaving for DC on the 9th, and I was worried that he would not be recovered enough to be left alone. Now he has 3 more days to recover. Please, keep all digits crossed and say any prayers that this surgery works for him. I don't even want to think about if it doesn't. They say it has about an 80% success rate. I am not sure why more people with this disease don't get it done if that's the case, mmmm...don't go there.

Garance, welcome back! Yes that is a beautiful area of California. I really like northern California the best. By northern I mean anything north of LA. ( sorry Josie!), I probably feel that way because that is where John is from, although he did grow up in Upland Ca, which is closer to LA. I sent you a link to an Ebay Essential C for $45 inc shipping. No box, but it is new and unopened. I actually bought one for myself yesterday morning. Let me know, there are 10 available.

Have you seen the clips of Slide & Glide, yikes! That one looks hard, but very interesting and different. Cathe is sure an innovator

Hi to Josie, Joan, Cathy and the vacationing Valerie!

Take care,

Hi Deb and Josie--

This morning I did STS disk 28 (65 min.) for ch and back.

Thanks again Deb for the link! Yes, northern California is gorgeous. DH and I were really in a state of awe looking at the giant redwoods in Muir and Butona. DH took a picture of me inside a tree--or framed by the trunk. Well over a thousand years old for some of those trees. Our walks/hikes on Friday and Monday plus some wild dancing Sunday night were my exercise on this trip. I will really be thinking about John on Friday and hoping for the best outcome. What a relief that would be for you. The idea behind the "games" is that the groom must prove his worthiness to "steal" the bride from her family. My son and his four groomsmen started by doing 200 pushups (40 each). Then they had to eat wasabi on seaweed, fried chicken feet, make up a love poem with designated words (brontosauraus, mustard, mole, and some other unlikely words). My son had to catch 2 sour patch candies in his mouth from each of two groomsmen thrown at a considerable distance. My dil looked absolutely gorgeous in a red cheongsam for the tea ceremony. She is very petite and beautiful. The ceremony itself included butterflies being let loose, with each of the guests opening a small envelope and making a wish when they flew off, plus another groomsman opening a cage of butterflies. I really had a good time and was very impressed with all of the planning that went into everything. The first night we were there, dil's Chinese relatives took us out for a rather splendid Chinese meal, and the rehearsal dinner was at Cafe Cruz (perhaps you know this place?). I chose lobster for the reception dinner--my favorite food--and it was delicious, and involved no effort on my part. Dil made sure there would be no bibs and other paraphernalia.

Well, I'm back to the whole grind. Max was thrilled to return to HIS farm. I have not looked at any clips yet, but I will now. Any word about when we will be getting these workouts? I thought it was supposed to be the end of August, but knew Cathe would never come close to that, because she never does.

Hi to anyone else who shows up!

Good morning,

John's surgery is at 8:00 am, tomorrow, but he has to be there at 6:00! I never understood that long wait when you basically have an IV put in and then sit around for 2 hours.

Garance, that wedding sounds amazing! Such fun traditions, I had never heard of them. Santa Cruz is a great place. I have not seen or been in the place that the wedding was held though. Did you see the hokey "board walk"?

Hair and pedi tonight after work, then hoping we get some sleep before getting up to go to the hospital. It shouldn't be any differnt than any other day, getting up at 4:00 am. We have the Kylee alarm clock working for us.

take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Sweat Express II (58 min.).

Deb, we did go to the boardwalk on Monday, but they are basically closed on Mondays except for a couple food places and gift shops. Never heard of deep-fried cheesecake, and was not tempted to try it. I bought a new totebag there. I never knew that the Coconut Grove was there. I guess they still have bands and dancing upstairs.

Gosh, I looked at a couple of those clips that were up yesterday, and they look challenging with those sliding disks. But also very different than anything else that I have. I will check to see what's up today.

I will be thinking of you and John tomorrow. Is it a very long operation?

Hi Deb and Garance,

I will be going to my bar class tonight. No workout tomorrow, but plan on going to the bar class on Saturday + spinning and Sunday I may ride my bike with the ALC group.

Deb, I will keep you and your DH in my prayers. Keep us posted.

Josie

Hey there,

Getting ready to go. The procedure is about an hour, so if they start on time, and they should since he is the first one for the surgeon for today, it should be done around 9 or so.

Garance, I know, they have the most horrific sounding deep fried things that they sell there. ugh. I am looking at the clips of the ones with the sliding discs and thinking I am going to have a really tough time with those, but will try everything, and hopefully be able to work up to doing them.

Josie, good plans for the weekend! It's getting really cold here this weekend, is supposed to be in the 40's Yikes!

Hi to any later posters, take care,

Hi,

John is doing well, the surgery went fine, I am home for a little while, while he sleeps. The Dr will be up to see us around 12:30-1:00 so I will go back then. He has to be on his back for a minimum of 6 hours, and not be dizzy for them to release him, otherwise he may have to stay overnight. He said he felt better than he has in 6 months when he woke up. I reminded him of all the great drugs he is on.

Hoping it's really not the drugs, but what they did to him that has made it better of course.

Later,

Hi Deb and Josie--

This morning I did disk 30 for sh, bis, and tris (64 min.).

Deb, thanks for keeping us posted on John. A good sign that he feels so much better. I like your little druggies on medical marijuana. I heard that it's going to get cold and also rain this weekend. We have way, way too much rain here. Yesterday it poured intermittently. Makes me really appreciate the sunny weather we had in California. Today is nice for a change.

Have a great weekend everyone! I may go see Moneyball.

Hi,

John did get to come home and he is feeling really good. He is on the same meds as he was before the surgery, but he said he still is feeling a lot better than before. He doesn't have the balance problems that they said he may have. They made it sound like he would be in bed, not able to walk or anything, and he is up and getting around. He is a little unsteady, but nothing like they described.

I think this DR likes to give the worst case scenario.

Garance, it is cold and raining here again, just like all day yesterday. HouseMax for me today, and dinner tomorrow at my brother's for his birthday if John feels up to it.

Hi to any later posters, when is Valerie back?

wow lots going on here. I'm back! Deb, that is so great the surgery got moved up. I was always under the impression that they want several people prepped and ready to go so in case there's a problem ,that they go ahead with someone while the problem gets sorted out. the surgical suites get booked tightly. sometime "no shows", sometimes some medical problem crops up, or someone forgets and eats breakfast or took an interfering medication, and needs to be rescheduled. you do feel like "you're all dressed up with no place to go". Always (IMO) best to be close to the first in the AM cause so often "something" goes awry during the day and later people get pushed back later and later. Hope this works for him. It's better to let people know upfront what can go wrong rather than paint too rosy a picture and have people disappointed when things are not 100% perfect.

I am still officially on vacation but today we need to pay bills, do grocery shopping etc. we had a very good trip, of course a few things went wrong, one example being DH setting off a canister of bear spray while pulling his pack out of the back seat, getting both of us sprayed and the inside truck door. Geez, what a mess. there isnow no doubt in my mind that this stuff is harsh enough to stop an angry charging grizzly bear. this happened once before but this was worse. had to clean it all off but it's an aerosol and goes everywhere. windex and handi-wipes to the rescue.
