Good afternoon,

Well the dog show was fun, lots of work, and it was freezing in the hall, but still good times.

I did not work out today, had to be there early and didn;t feel like getting up earlier.

Not much going on, it looks like everyone is having a busy weekend..

back in the am..

Monday

Good morning,

All done with CLX Push Circuit 1. This phase is more to my liking. No compound exercises, which I always thought were dangerous.

Back to the work grind, after "working" most of the weekend at the dog show.

Have a great start to the week!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Petra Kolber's Just Dance (51 min.), and yesterday I did disk 4 for chest, bis, shoulders on STS (55 min.).

I finally finished grading a set of papers this weekend, but I have another set coming in on Friday. Agh! So glad I decided to take the retirement offer.

I brought Max with me to my office yesterday because DH was off refereeing. What a little character! He is super-friendly, so it took about 30 minutes to just get into the office bldg. Students ooh and aah and pet him and he, of course, just eats it up. He was something of a pest in my office, even with the cache of chew toys I brought with me.

Registration this afternoon and the rest of the week, so I will probably be seeing a lot of students choosing courses. Busy time of the year.

Tuesday

Good morning,

I did a 40 minute I-tread this morning, 319 calories. This was a good one, I may do it again Thursday.

I had a voice mail message on my cell phone at 4:52 this morning, my niece was in labor last night, I assume my SIL was calling to tell me about my new great niece or nephew. I did not get the call, I was downstairs working out, and I don't remember my voice mail password,.

Garance, Max is now herding in halls of higher education? LOL...It sounds like he loved being here.. All new scents and people to get attention from. How much longer do you have before retirement?

Hi to Cathy, Valerie, Josie, and Joan...

Take care...

Hi Ladies,

I was able to spin on Saturday and Sunday and my DD and I did a 30 minute boot camp tape yesterday. I still feel a nagging pain on my lower right side, but I can bend and stretch.

Garance, it is so cute that Max is such a character.

Deb, now that I have the iPod 3G I will be downloading all my cardio coach and I-treads.
I can't wait. My DS brought it as a present when he arrived from deployment. I had been playing with his when he was visiting one day and I loved all the applications, so he bought me one. He said that they offered it to the sailors at 30% discount.

Hi to Cathy, Valerie and Joan.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did STS disk 5 for back and tris (58 min.).

Deb, the retirement plan is this: I teach next year as per usual; I get a semester's paid leave and one more semester of teaching the second year; the third year I receive 125% of my one year's salary and I can take it all at once or split it up over the following two years. So, I have three more semesters of teaching and then I am done. The thing is, I was planning to retire then anyway--at 66 years, my FRA in Soc. Sec. terms, so why not take an even better deal? Just as an eternal lament you have all heard too many times: I HATE GRADING PAPERS!

Welcome back, Josie! I feel like we haven't heard much from you lately because of your back problems. The movie of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is finally arriving in Billsville, and I am really looking forward to it. Have you read it yet?

This afternoon is big teaching: "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Coleridge and Hughes's Moortown farming poems. I also have a new recording of Plath from the British Library that I plan to play parts of--an interview.

Are you back, Joan?

Hi to Cathy and Valerie. Oh, I meant to ask you, Cathy, are you being forced to sell because of "eminent domain"?

Yeah... Cathy, eminent domain popped into my mind too. It's so sad that after so long of being in a place that you will be at least pressured to sell and move. But I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere near a high school so being a hold out may not be a good choice either. sorry, there are too many problem kids causing trouble these days, and being right near a HS would be difficult at best.

We had an extremely active weekend. I took friday off, and saturday we xc skied ( 6-7 miles) a favorite trail after doing a long drive to the destination, over the north cascade hwy in the national park. we camped that night and did a hike in the morningsunday , about 6-7 miles with good elevation gain. mt biked for 2 hours in the afternoon. camped again, and did another 6 mile hike in the ( monday) morning with lots of elevation gain and steep snow. saw loads of wildlife too. then drove home and had to clean up and organize everything. whew! all the camper things and food worked out well. we were laughing about all the gear we carried with us, and the only thing we didn't use were the snowshoes. will try to do an upper body thing of some kind today after yoga this morning.

Josie, glad to hear you're back on track.
Joan, hope you're back and getting in the exercise and diet groove.
Garance, I've heard of that movie title and have it on my netflix list. course, I've had the Hurt Locker on since december and still haven't gotten it, so who knows??

Deb, to funny. I have too many passwords too, and am guilty of not remembering all of them.

Garance, I just got an informational flyer from a bird group about how to prevent birds from hitting windows. this is more for birds who hit windows by accident but might work with your aggressive robin.

1. Apply Tempera paint ( art supply or craft stores) in patterns. comes right off with a damp rag after.
2. Use tape like duck brand tape to create patterns
3. Internal window films like www.1fdcollidescape.com opaque from outside, but clear from inside.
4. window blinds
5. lightweight netting or screen a few inches in front of the window.

there were more web addresses etc but that's the general idea.

hi ya'll, no we will not be forced to sell, but you are right, traildoggie, no way do i want to live w/ a hi school wrapped around me. we looked at a place yesterday we really like. 15 acres w/lots of trees, so we will see what happens. the appraiser came out today.

have an appt. w/my dr. on friday
.
well, i am happy to say, i actually did the whole rotation this month. 6 days w/out and one day off. today , was the last day. tomorrow is rest and then, the last 2 days are easy, recovery workouts. i am so ready. my whole body is sore.

Wednesday

Good morning all,

I just finished CLX Burn Circuit 2.

Josie, I hope you like the Cardio Coaches and I-Treads. Are you downloading all of them? or do you have some of each already, just not on your I-Pod? Glad to hear you are able to do more now.

Garance, I want to retire NOW! If they offered any kind of early retirement I would take it for sure.

Valerie, I am amazed at how much you do! One day like what you did would put me out for a week. I finally did remember that password and got the message. It was a boy, the 6th grandson for my brother. He has 3 girls and each of them has 2 boys.

Cathy, good job on sticking to that rotation!

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.).

I woke up this morning with a pain in my calf and knee. Who knows where that came from? It seems to have subsided now, but for awhile it was really bad and I wondered if I should have exercised.

Thanks, Valerie, for the suggestions on the robin head-banger. I have blinds, but they don't seem to help, and we also have a screen inside the window, so if we crank the window open from the inside, there is a screen there. I think this guy is just protecting his territory.

Deb, you sound desperate to retire. Any way you can do it without waiting until your FRA?

Cathy, did you get an MRI? Good work on your rotation!

Hi to Josie and Joan!

Thursday

Good morning all,

I did a 40 minute I-Tread this morning, 292 calories. It is supposed to be pretty nice today, sunny and in the high 60's. I am going to dinner with my cousin and niece tonight, a lovely Italian restaurant. I hope I can keep my eating plan in mind. It may be tough though, Italian is my favorite food.

Garance, what do you think the pain was from? exercising the day before or did you do something like garden etc? Sorry, what is an FRA? I could retire, but would take a hit on my pension plan, and 401k. I think you have to be 59 1/2 to collect from the 401k without penalty. That Robin sure has a death wish.

Cathy, sending good vibes for the DR apt tomorrow.

Hi to Valerie, Joan and Josie.

Take care,

Took one day as a (more or less) rest day, and yesterday yardmax. we wanted to bike but weather was too unsettled. heavy rain showers on and off much of the day, fine if you're doing yard things and can pop into the garage when the downpours show up. my rt knee was sore besides, so 2 days rest from intense exercise helped, it's much better today. probably an over use thing from too mcuh uphill.

I plan on cardio and an upper body thing today. It's been a week so I may start with STS disk 1

Hi Ladies,

I woke up this morning and there was no pain, it just went away:). I will be spinning tonight and see how it feels. I did not workout yesterday, I went out with my friends.

Deb, I will be downloading all of the cc and I-Treads. The new I-Pod has a lot of memory.

Garance, are you still in pain?

Valerie, we are also having weird weather here.

Hi Joan and Cathy,

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did the 30 min. P-57 express workout for legs and abs plus two fastmiles with Leslie (25 min.).

I don't know what was up with my knee yesterday, but by the evening it was back to 'normal', which is not painful. Today it seemed back to its old self. Made me wonder if it was the weather yesterday, which was very cold (we even had some snowflakes), rainy, and windy. My mother would always complain about the weather affecting her hip--and I always scoffed to myself, but now, I wonder.......

Deb, FRA stands for full retirement age, which is your birthday and the age specified by Social Security, depending on when you were born; so for me it's 66. Maybe when you order tonight you could get a salad and an appetizer. We went out last night to celebrate a friend's birthday, and I ordered two appetizers--a crab cake and mussels in a heavenly broth. I had to have bread to soak up the broth! It was very yummy, and I went home feeling like I did not stuff my face.

Hi to Cathy, Josie, Joan (are you back, girl?), and Valerie!

I'm back.

I got back late yesterday and just went to bed. This morning I tried to catch up with work that is due tomorrow. Not done yet but decided to take a break. No wo yet.

We had fun on vacation. I broke even yea! I actually have 1099's for $17250 on this trip but I would lose then win then lose then win. We saw Wayne Newton in one of his last shows. It was so sad. He could barely talk let alone sing. The Planet Hollywood Casino is now owned by Harrahs. I hope all the smaller casinos can stay alive.

I had downloaded all the shock cardio before I left but now it seems I need to delete and then download them again.:(

Cathy Hope doctor's visit helps you. I hope you can work out something on your home. It might turn out better.

I need new shoes. We walked alot and my shins really told me about it. Either that or I'm really out of shape.

I will reread diet book and prepare grocery lists as soon as I'm done with work. Phase in until Monday and then I will try to be strict. I can't start until then because I missed my green tea and need sweetner in it. Although I can't see that it would wreck the diet if I had artificial sweetner but I will try for two weeks.

Joan

TGIF

Good morning,

No workout today, I stayed out a little later than planned, then stayed up when I got home to talk to DH.. Had to get some sleep. I had a disturbing message on our answering machine from my friend. Her Mom is in the hospital and it does not sound good. The dinner was nice, I had chicken picata with a salad and some pasta. I did not eat any bread and only had one tiny taste of the slice of cheesecake the waitress brought to the table with a candle. It was nice.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend?

Valerie, WOW back to STS, good for you!

Josie, glad you are out of pain and can get back to training. No long rides planned? You will have lots of variety for running with your I-Pod... I think there are only 10 Cardio Coaches, but there must be 25 I-Treads, and lots more other ones.

Garance, I was born in 1953, what does that make my FRA? Whatever it is, I don;t think I can wait that long! Glad your knee issue was temporary.

Joan, when you download the shock cardio, what do you use to play them? At least you broke even, and had fun!

Cathy, I hope you can reschedule that DR appointment soon.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Ellen Barrett's Barefoot Cardio (48 min.).

Deb, sounds like you were very careful with your food choices. Good for you! I'm pretty sure your FRA is also 66. It doesn't matter, though. You can start taking soc. sec. at 62 if you want. You just will have smaller checks than if you wait. I've been told, though, that things pretty much even out no matter when you start taking your soc. sec.

Welcome back, Joan! Breaking even in sin city is better than going under. Are you betting on any horse for the Kentucky Derby?

Josie, glad you are no longer in pain. My knee pain magically disappeared as well. I guess bodies just get a bit creaky every now and then.

I wish I had some plans for the weekend. Just more papers to grade. Blech! It is supposed to be beautiful here, though--even up to 80 on Sunday.

Hi to Valerie and Cathy!
