Morning all,
I did about 32 minutes of Athletic Training from LIS series this morning and thought I would die. I am so out of shape, and this was with modifications. Well, you gotta start somewhere I guess. Valerie, I have not even pre-viewed the barre workout yet. , but remember what P-57 was like and I know how hard it is. At least you can get through it. I still have my weekly cooking to do today, spelt bread, hard boiled eggs and cranberry protein bars. Most other stuff on the list is done. We bought a new Shop Vac yesterday so may use it in the basement. Hope everyone is having a good weekend, Take care,

Deb, none of the workouts are easy, but I expect a challenge from Cathe. just modify as needed or pause for an extra few seconds. I think the S&G one is probably the easiest, but it depends on how comfortable you feel on disks. even if you are "in shape" but do something different from usual, it feels hard, so don't beat yourself up. that's why "variety" and "change" work so well. Pat yourself on the back and do something different today. the barre workout is muscle and positionally fatiguing but not cardio. you can do parts of it, rest, and then continue. some isn't hard, few sections very tough. I do what I can, and move on. I especially like the ab part starting with the crunches and sub this in instead of Coremax which I was getting tired of.
this is not a superbowl household either. rather have another colonoscopy than sit thru that. Speaking of cspy, insurance sent back a rebill statement showing I owe zero. but now DH got billed for his screening labs that went with his "100% covered" annual physical, so back to the telephone. I think they purposely "bill" assuming people don't know what their policy covers, and a big % will pay it rather than take time to argue it. yesterday did 2 miles on the treadmill, and then took a couple hour walk up and down hill in a state park, right by salt water, some on a beach. DH,me, woman he works with, who is very pregnant. she is in good shape but doesn't want to do anything "too much" at this point. It was a gorgeous lovely day, warm and sunny and so clear. mountains snow covered in the distance were gorgeous. she stayed for dinner after. her husband is in the navy, she will be moving to FL in a little more than a month, his next duty station. we'll miss her. she is fun to be with, and a good doctor to boot. DH enjoys exchanging ideas with her and will miss her professionally too. She is originally from Romania but will be staying here in the US. today we will do a bike street ride. Not as warm as what Josie ( envy envy) is enjoying but for Feb here, I'm not complaining. |

Valerie, how long is the core work in the barre workout, starting where you mentioned above?

Hi Deb, Valerie, and any later posters--
This morning I did Turbo Barre (74 min.). Deb, AT is probably the most anaerobic workout for me for the first 25 min., but I really have improved a lot on this one, so try to keep it up. Things slow down after the first half is over and she moves into conditioning, and the conditioning on this one is so original and varied that I really like it. Valerie is right--pat yourself on the back and try to get back in the habit. Well, this is definitely a Superbowl household. I made Nigella Lawson's chili (it has some chocolate in it which gives it a really rich mole like flavorand she uses both shin beef and sausage), and I made a new apple cobbler with cheddar cheese biscuits on top. I am also making buffalo wings (I bet you get great ones Deb!) and our guests are bringing two salads. Other assorted things. I skipped lunch today, because I know this will be a calorie rich meal. I'm not much of a football fan, but I do enjoy the commercials, and I am curious about whether Madonna will wow us or fall flat. Gosh, I read Josie's post about the incident with the car door. I do hope the fellow has learned his lesson, but he sounds like he might want to hurt someone just for the hell of it. If he loses his job, I suspect he might get even uglier the next time. |

Back from our ride, took about 2 1/4 hours. about 22 miles. not that hard but wearing way more stuff than we're used to. wind block tights, hat, ear band, helmet, helmet cover. Feels a little like when you were a little kid and your mother dressed you up in a snow suit, mittens etc, and then you could barely move. street riding is faster than mt biking and the wind does a number on temp. it was cooler than yesterday about 45 so not ridiculous.
Deb, I go to the chapters menu and do the exercise right before abs, some kind of side crunch, seems like it's connected to abs for me. I'd guess 10 minutes? possibly 15. not that long. linda, the jerk might take out his frustrations on the next person who crosses his path, like the next cyclist. anyone who'd knowingly open a door to knock someone into traffic, or just knock them over, is a threat already. I don't think there's a good way to deal with them, just hope they grow up before they really injure or kill someone else. Have a good superbowl party! |

Hi all,
Not much new here. I did Cardio Coach #3 this morning, got up around 3:40am with Kylee and I figured I might as well get a workout in. No class tonight, ( yay!), not sure which one I am going to take with Kylee. She's not ready for the advanced class, and it starts at 8:30 pm. I can't see myself going to that and not getting home until 10. John actually took his bike for a spin yesterday, it was bright and sunny but very cold, probably around 37 degrees. He said it was brisk. That's for sure. Loving this winter, Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--
This morning I did After Burn (54 min.). We enjoyed our Superbowl party, but dh was upset by the last few minutes, of course, because the Pats lost. On the other hand, our Giants fan was really delighted and tried not to gloat. I must say, that final touchdown was rather ridiculous--he just sat down in the end zone. I thought Madonna was crazy terrific and the Cleopatra outfit a hoot. The commercials were not all that great, although the fat dog one who decides to start working out and dieting after gazing at himself in the mirror was funny and reminded me of us. Off to teach Hamlet! |

Hi Ladies,
I did the 53 mile ride on Saturday. It was hard and hilly but a beautiful route and the air was so clean and crisp. On Sunday, I went spinning and the instructor tried to kill us because it was Super Bowl Sunday and said that she knew that we were going to over eat. I have decided to take off on Monday and Friday for my rest days. So I will be cooking tonight for the next 3 days. That way I can just re-heat our dinner and not have to worry about what to fix for dinner every night. Work has been a bit stressful due to one of our co-workers that is paranoid and thinks that all off us are trying to attack her and get her fired. She is just crazy and I just wanted to slap her after our staff meeting last Friday. I wish I could just retire tomorrow ![]() Josie |

Good morning,
I did the Leg Cardio Express pre-mix from Athletic Training. Most of the workout is the step portion and then those damn firewalker bands. OUchie. Joan, I know how you feel. I have gained back a lot of the 18 pounds I lost, You will get there, it's hard and you have not had an easy time with other issues. BTW, how have your eyes been? Garance, I watched most of the Superbowl commercials on line. I liked the one with the Great Dane and the cat, although I heard that the animal rights people are all up in arms about it. Josie, I hear ya, retiring sounds like heaven. Office work places are nerve racking sometimes. I have worked with some of the same people for almost 40 years. Sometimes you just want to scream. It's mostly the age differences that bother people, different generations, different values etc. Valerie, what's up? Time to shower and get breakfast ready, Have a great day!
