Hot Patootie Cardio HATE Nov 25

August

Cathlete
Goooooood morning!

Hey, have I ever mentioned that I LOVE Christi?! I'm not sure I have. :p

I LOVE Christi.

This morning called for "light cardio" and so I decided to pull out FunkTional Fitness.

Did I tell you that I LOVE Christi? :p

I don't know if it was mini-potato power from last night, but I was totally into doing Christi's workout this morning, even though this one is a bit different from her other ones, with some "functional" things in it. I actually prefer Christi to be just dancy rather than functional, but I was having a blast, and it was a nice change of pace.

Okay, now let me complain just a wee bit. But just a bit. After 40 minutes of fun cardio, Christi has a nice calisthenics set. It's really killer for the legs, and the tons of small repeated movements really make my legs shake. During this part, if I'm thinking about how my legs are killing me, obviously, it makes me want to stop, so it's a good time to be concentrating on some fun music to get my mind off my wobble, but Christi has her cute son keeping the beat on the drums live.

Now don't get me wrong, I think it's great that he's there and he does a fine job of keeping a regular, no-frills beat. But it's literally just a regular, no-frills beat for about 25 minutes of calisthenics. I wish he could have played drums over some music track that actually had a song.

Well, whatever the case, I had a great workout and I feel fab!

Deb - You're computer is totally right. Purple. Purple potatoes. I'm going to have one in a little bit, so I'll be back to report. Holy moly, you're going to do all that exercise tomorrow?! You are going to need some fuel! (By the way, hope you don't mind I borrowed your patootie for today's title! :D )

Jeanette - I've got to say that all your activities are totally cool.

What's the plan for all you guys this weekend? Heavy duty workouts? Heavy duty shopping? Heavy duty sleeping? :)

I'M EATING A PURPLE POTATO!

The color is really deep purple and is visually quite stimulating! :7

I'm not sure if it's just this particular potato or if they are all like this, but I'd have to say that it tastes like a regular yellow sweet potato when I've baked them in the microwave - a little dry and not so goo, but yummy, nevertheless. If I was eating it in the dark, I'd have no idea it's purple.

It's fun eating something purple, but I'm glad I got one bag of purple and three bags of yellow. :D

Goo rules.

I wonder what kind of nutrient is in this thing to turn it purple? And why does nobody know about this potato in the States?

ETA : Found this on the internt - The Okinawa or Okinawan is a purple-fleshed variety that is not as readily available. Covered by a thin whitish outer skin, this potato provides an enjoyable buttery and nut-like flavor. The Okinawan is also known as Tumai Kuru, Beni Imo, Ube or the purple yam.

I WANT A PURPLE POTATO!!! Actually, I think we can get certain varieties of purple potatoes here, but not purple SWEET potatoes. I wonder if your little mini potatoes are something like the French fingerling potatoes. They're about 1/10th the size of a russet. I LOVE LOVE LOVE potatoes--YUM!

ROTFLOL at Christi's son and the no-frills drum beat. That would annoy me to no end. Gotta have good music to work out. *GASP* August!! I have a brilliant idea! Why don't you submit some of your music to Christi!! Oooh, I LOVE this idea. You could one day be working out to your own music! Seriously, I think I'm on to something here!

Jeanette, I'm not laughing AT you about tucking your skirt into your pantyhose, I'm laughing WITH you. I did the same thing once. Notice I said ONCE, because that's the kind of mistake you don't make twice--LOL! However, I did once walk out of the restroom in a restaurant with TP streaming out over the waist of my jeans and floating behind me  . I had taken my brother to lunch and he kindly pointed it out. He said, in a rather loud exclamatory voice, "Oh God!! You've got toilet paper hanging out of your pants!!". (I should explain that my brother is mentally handicapped and somewhat lacking in the social graces). I've never been so thankful to be in a place where I didn't know a soul ;( :D

Eli and I went for a long steady state ride today and I supposedly burned 550 cals!!! I put Cardio & Weights in the DVD player and worked out along with Cathe and crew. The time flew by!

I'm having trouble remembering what everyone else had been posted. It's almost 1:30 AM and DH and I just got home from the movies. We saw Casino Royale and oh boy!! Talk about action packed suspense! It was a great movie. DH and I agreed that it was the best James Bond movie we'd ever seen.

I'm leaving early this morning for a family reunion. We haven't all been together since my uncle died last December. It will be a bitter sweet gathering. We have a reunion every 2 years and since the last one, 2 aunts and an uncle have passed away.:-( It will be nice to see everyone.

I'm making some goo for breakfast. I've never had it before so I hope it's good. http://www.recipezaar.com/134574

August, Robin, Jeanette, Dana, Diane, Deb, Kate, Jana, I'll see y'all Sunday!! :* :*

> "Oh God!! You've got toilet paper hanging out of your pants!!"

OMGOMGOMG LMAO!!!!! That made me laugh so loud. :7

> fingerling

This also made me chuckle, but silently to myself. What on earth is a fingerling?

Ahaha, submit some music to Christi for her next workout. Like it hadn't already crossed my mind several times. LOL.

Jeez, you really did put Eli in a spin! Wha? You mean you were on Eli with C&W playing in the background? You weirdo! :D

I hope your family reunion will be a warm and wonderful one. That's so cool that you can do that kind of thing.

I'm going to check out this goo recipe asap and then I'm off to work.

:*

Morning haters!

I read yesterday's thread and Jeanette I"m another one that is laughing w/you on the pantyhose not at ya! I remember YEARS ago when I went to Virginia Beach this one club that we went to, the entire bathroom floor was covered in TP, it was like someone went crazy w/the whole roll. It was quite gross b/c everyone (including me) that came out of there had TP stuck to their shoes and since it was summer, it was sandals. Oh it was disgusting!!

Michele, you really are getting your money out of eli! I haven't used mine in ages. Since I moved all of my stuff to the basement, the elliptical is still upstairs. I've got to have DH move it down. I guess I"m a weirdo too b/c I pop in a DVD when I do the elliptical too. So :p to you August!!!

I have never tried Christi. I see that Collage has one of her DVD's for $12.95, I might get it. I just looked, it is Totally Cool Step. Is that a good one? How complicated are the steps b/c I am a total dufus.

So yesterday I did Jari's Slim & Lean. Not so sure about it. First off it skipped alot which was frustrating. Squats were long but I didn't mind it. I HATED the lunges, b/c of course I hate lunges. Doesn't matter what DVD it is or what type of lunges, I HATE, HATE, HATE them. I really liked the chest portion. Back was OK, prefer Cathe's back stuff, I skipped the one legged squat and inner thigh section b/c my legs felt fried, loved the biceps, tricep and shoulder. Abs were way too easy. It was a LONG workout though. I think 65 minutes but it didn't fly by. I will do the workout again. I've got MAJOR DOMS today, majorly! I would like to do somekind of cardio today. I love the cardio only premix from Drill Max so maybe tonight I"ll make up some kind of cardio workout. I think that the DM cardio premix is only 22 minutes so I'll have to tack something else onto it. Maybe I'll add on the step only portion of SPJ and then finish up with the abs and stretch from SPJ.

I didn't tell you all that I survived roller skating. LOL We got there at 1:00 and I didn't have any falls until about 2:45. Gabe and his friend were racing, Gabe was going to fall so he grabbed on to me, I did one of those up in the air moves where up I go and down, bam on my butt and arm. Yowza did it hurt. Thank God for my big ole butt and all the padding! Of course, I, aka mom, was good enough to hang out with for until about 2:30 and then he ditched me. So after my fall I checked out. Took off the skates and he skated for another half hour. He did really well.

Not sure what is up with me today. My DH went to a car part flea market so no clue when he will be back. I have some baby stuff to take down to DH's cousin so I may do that. Oh I forgot that today is Saturday and I should be cleaning. Oops!!! Gabe wants to go to Perkins. He got a certificate for a free meal for Perfect Attendance at school. I really don't like going there though, not much that I like on their menu.

OH, I've seen baby purple potatoes here but not purple sweet taters.

I was going to make an appt to take the boys to Sears to get their pics taken for Christmas but Gannon ran into the table on Wed night and has a nice purple eye.

Have a great day everyone!

Howdy haters! Those purple taters sound great. I've seen recipes (in Cooking Light) that call for all kinds of different potatos, but I haven't looked for them around here. I pretty much stick to russets and pop them in the oven. Same with sweet potatos.

Michele, have fun at the family reunion. I'm glad your DH got home from work in time to catch a movie.

Hey Dana. Sorry about Gannon's eye. Maybe some concealer?

I did the cardio premix from Body Max 2 last night. I'm not sure what I'll do this afternoon, after work. I'd like to do LIC, but I'm not sure I'll have the time. MIL is coming out for dinner - leftover turkey.

LOL at Christie's music. I like most of her cardio workouts, but she did this really lame cool down stretch to one of her son's songs. I was NOT impressed.

Have a wonderful sweet potato goo kind of day all.

Hi Robin, Dana, August, Michele- it seems like when I check into the thread almost everyone has worked out already for the day and you would think that that would get me motivated to get right in there and get my workouts done, but, alas a funny thing happens- I tell myself that you all have worked out already so I don't need to and I sit back and check out the boards some more,go eat some chocolate, etc. I think I am lethal to everyones motivation here-stay away from me-I repeat-stay away from me-I am not a motivator- I'm laughing at myself with my big plans to do all those Gym styles today and cardio?-yeah right-so please somebody egg me on- jeer at me-goad me into getting my workouts done or I'm just not doing it-so there-(LOL)-deb

...cricket, cricket... okay I goaded myself into doing my cardio-20 min. HIIT jump roping so I'm 1/3 of the way there- wish me luck...deb

So you eat barley like oatmeal? When I think of barley, I think of soup. I don't think out of the box very well. Can you find barley like at Safeway? How long does it take to cook? I bought the steel cut oats that I never hear of on these boards any more and it just sits. That reminds me, I should soak up a bunch and cook it later.

I need to go eat something and then maybe it'll be a Cardio Fusion workout of some sort. Maybe I'll try one of the premixes.

I've never seen purple potatoes, plain or sweetened.

Jeanette

I'm back, have steel cut oats soaking. Did my workout already. It was Cardio Fusion, the 80 minute premix. Longest cardio I think I've ever done. My left foot started to feel a little uncomfortable after a while so I modified a little. It's like a nerve thing but only happens on longer cardio or impact. I'm focusing on drinking lots of water today to offset the loss of water thru sweat. Must keep doing that as it helps fight off puffiness.

Michele, too funny about the TP sticking out. Guess something like this happens to everyone. Nice when you don't know any of the people that see you in this state. Glad you were able to get on Eli and work out. I didn't do my Cardio Coach this week, but will hit it next week. Something to look forward to. Hope you enjoy your time at the reunion. Life is short, isn't it? The goo looks yummy! Let us know how it is.

Hi Dana, I've been doing some Christi and I've got to say, she isn't easy. I'm having a harder time with Solid Gold Cardio. However, I like Cardio Collectibles and the Fantastic Four set. I've heard that Mission Possible is a good one. I think she's an excellent cuer, but much harder than Cathe. If you can do Rhythmic Step, you can start with Christi. Sounds like you had fun roller skating. I haven't done that in ages. I've wondered about in-line skates though. Think that would be fun. Too bad about Gannon's eye. Can't have Christmas pictures of that sent to everyone.

Hi Robin, enjoy your time with your MIL and the leftover turkey. My sister put on the meal so all of the leftovers are at her house, which is probably a good thing, though I do LOVE a turkey sandwich with turkey, a little dressing, cranberry sauce on white bread with mayo and pepper. Of course, I brought home the uneaten yam casserole and had a bowl of it yesterday :9. Probably will again today. I haven't experienced any of Christi's stretch sequences yet because I spend most of the time trying to learn a routine or something. Guess I don't feel like stretching afterwards, though I know I should. I like the "ooga chucka, ooga chucka" in one of the songs. Takes me back to the 70's!

Come on, Deb! Get to doing what you know will make you feel better. Are you doing a certain rotation? I have P90X on tap for December. Hoping for great things from it, but I haven't received it yet.

Got to run now,

August, you are quite the board expert on sweet potatoes now. Which ones give the best goo? I usually buy yams cuz I like orange. What is the best way and how long to microwave them for ultimate smoothness? Or should I bake a whole bunch of them today and freeze them? I never even thought about freezing them before. Hmmmm.

Jeanette

Hey Jeanette -I am doing a gym styles rotation with 4-5 cardio in a week and 2-3 abs-I'm in my 4th week and I'll do it for another 1-2 weeks then a CTX rotation and then...ta da... P90X if my hubby takes my STRONG hints of what I want for xmas (am I shameless-don't answer that)LOL--let me know when you start P90x-I have heard such good things about it- I'm working my way up to it---deb
