August

Cathlete
Morning!

So I'm totally back to eating on my sofa because I have no dining chairs and lugging out my step ladder every morning has become a pain in the butt LOL.

http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/gen042.gif

But my dining table sure LOOKS nice.

Anyway, today was Gym Chest & Triceps and a section of Coremax.

So I did Gym Chest & Triceps. http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/7.gif

I always have some dread-factor when it comes to Gym Chest and Tris, but I always feel really pumped when I finish.

All right, I'm off!

JENNIFER - Woo hoo! A free Friday! Now that IS a Good Friday!

My hair goes almost to the bottom of my back (or I could say the top of my bottom LOL). It's at that length where all I do is pull it back into a ponytail or something to get it out of my way LOL.

Chami is still at the windowsill, poor girl. Birds just ain't comin' to eat the seed!! Even Mr. Caw has taken to sneaking up to have his orange and then be off without a sound.

>August-What's up with your Mom?

She's fine...just suddenly last year she wasn't able to put her arm up. We went to the doctor and they found that the nerves in her neck were being pinched (an age thing) and that was causing the problem. So she got shots every other day for a couple months and now she's taking pills for it but we have to have her checked every month. Anyway, things are going better and she can use her arm now, thankfully.

I'm glad to hear your father has been doing well.

And what a nice welcome home from Seville and Madrid! How cute.

DANA - Mom's apt went smoothly. We got another month worth of meds and then we'll go back for another checkup. The doctor told my mom "No surfing, skiing or horseback riding." http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/indifferent/indifferent0012.gif

We had a good laugh about it.

>Have you ever used the DCH or DCL or DHL or whatever they are, skin care products???? I'm forever getting their catalog with samples but never ordered anything. Everything is made in Japan.

It's called DHC. I've used their face oil before and it was face oil. I don't know, I have a thing about DHC. They make a big hoopla about being natural and pure and blah blah blah, and then they get two of Japan's fakest "talent" to be their spokesmodels.

>Yes I saw that Aug hit the jackpot and I did not know that she (that's right, YOU Aug) didn't eat poultry. I knew about the meat but how could I not have known about the poultry thing???

Yup, yup. I stopped eating it months ago. Remember last year when I decided I should chew my food? LOL. Well, that was during my chicken-fest and there was something really evil about really, really chewing my chicken. It just grossed me out. And then I stopped eating it. And then I got the crock pot and then there were all these great chicken recipes.

But now that I'm not eating meat or poultry, I don't miss it one bit, and wouldn't even consider eating it now. Weird!

Well played!

>I'll bet you can download one off the Cuisinart website

Yes, and this is why I didn't make a big stink to the Japanese company who sent my Cuisinart and not the free cook booklet. http://bestsmileys.com/lol/10.gif

ROBIN - Hi you!

> Any new birdie sightings?

Nope, those meanies. I've been putting out orange slices and Mr. Caw comes and eats it now in secrecy. I only know because when I look on the balcony, I find that he's mangled the orange and has made his little poop, you're welcome you stinker. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/indifferent/indifferent0005.gif

Any advice?

JEN - Oooh, would this be the first time you're traveling with Chad?

>Chad is leaving Thurs afternoon to go to his mom's house until Sunday to help her & his sister with some things & give a 2 hour talk to kids on Saturday.

That jerk. Doesn't he have anything better to do? LMAO. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/angelic004.gif

Okay, I've got a bunch of yummy crock pot recipes now, so I'm going to take Mom out for dinner and swing by the grocery store and get lots of ingredients tonight (for tomorrow).

Good Morning August.
I was hoping to that you had posted the Haters thread. I couldn't sleep so Seville is here with me while I type this.
Your hair sounds pretty. Mine needed a cut badly.
Went to Travelocity to book a flight to NY in June. Looks like I'm booking out of Lansing instead of Grand Rapids, almost $100 cheaper, better parking cause GR airport is making a huge parking ramp so that will be easier and better. So, I will fly out later but get there at the same time to NY. Two days off in June, just before the 4th.
Some greenery make attract the birds like one of those trees you place in a gardening pot and doesn't get too big.
Glad to hear about your Mom. That she's doing better.
All this talk of food makes me hungry.
Did SJP last night, well, all except for the first hi/low combo and chest work and ab work and stretch. I cooled down and stretched myself. Maybe, I need IMAX2 or Amy Bento to refresh. KPC is for Wed night though.
Hello to Michele, Robin, Dana, Diane, Shannon, Arista, and Jen.

Morning haters. It is 5:30am and I'm getting ready to head up for my shower but I found a recipe in my WW cookbook for guess what??? Slow Cooker Vegetable Barley Soup. Here it is:

3/4 cup quick cooking barley
4 clove garlic, thinly sliced
6 oz mushrooms,quartered
2 carrots, chopped
1 large zuchinni, about 12 oz, cut into 1/4 inch cubes
1 medium yellow squash, about 8 oz, cut into 1/4 inch cubes
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 small fennel bulb, core removed and chopped
1 cup frozen lima beans
1 can (14.5 oz) Italian seasoned diced tomatoes
1 teaspoono dried basil
4 cups fat free, low sodium vegetable broth

Put everything in the slow cooker - pour the broth over everthing. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Makes 8 servings, 1.5 cup/serving, 134 calories

Never had it but it sounds good.

Well I better go get ready for work. I"ll check back in with you later. I didn't even get to read the above posts.

Later haters!

Hi, Jennifer! Are you sleeping yet?

Hi, Dana! Woo hoo, more slow cooker recipes! It's in my file now!

I'm back from the grocery store.

And to you others.......

HELP!!! http://bestsmileys.com/panic/2.gif EMERGENCY!!!!!!!

My store no longer carries Jamaican Jerk spice. x( I've got all the makings for Jen's sweet potato bean stew....but no Jerk!

What's a good sub? (Waaaa, I love Jamaican Jerk.)

Hello Haters.

I finally went back to bed this morning. Seville let me.

Michele-from last night thread, how's your sister? niece? and brother doing? Any big plans for the weekend?

Dana-Thanks for making us all hungry so early in the morning.

August-Never heard of that spice before. Some of the real cooks here will have to assist you on that one.

Bad news- the snow is coming back. Detroit got about a foot and all the area schools have closed. I was considering going there this weekend but it'll have to wait. We're supposed to get less than an inch. We shall see.

Diane-How are your workouts coming? How's Miss Ella doing? More pics please. My niece, Morgan, has playtime with her friend who's only a few months older than her down the street. They have fun together.
20 and 24 months ages.

BBL after 6pmish EST.

August... check the crockpot thread on the Open forum. I finally posted a few. Did you try anything last night?

Hi, Jennifer, glad you got some sleep. You'll need it for when you have to shovel more snow LOL, yet not LOL.

Hi, Shannon, thanks! I feverishly copy pasted all those recipes into my files. I'M SO EXCITED! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0021.gif

I live in Tokyo and it's now midnight, so when I was posting asking for recipes and stuff, it was this morning...and I went to the grocery store this evening....and my delivery is coming tomorrow early-afternoon......so I'll be trying out something tomorrow evening (which is in the middle of the night for you, I think?)!

I'm going to have to go back to the store to get more ingredients because there were some really yumbo sounding ones after I got back from the store. Oooohooo, by chance I DID buy some pumpkin. I LOVE pumpkin and I want to try your pumpkin one.

But I've got to get diced tomatoes with green chilies, corn, and...what's a pinto bean? I've got to look for that, too. :)

You're so sweet for taking time to type those out. Thank you. No wonder you're related to Michele! Niceness runs in the family! :D

Mornin!

OMG this day has been CRAZY already! Guess what? My niece developed a blood clot in her broken leg ;( . She'll be fine -- it's just yet another wrinkle.

Hey -- I've been on the phone, quite literally, ALL morning! ;( x( . I have stuff I HAVE TO tend to, and then I'll try to come back later for personals. :* :* :*

August - I don't know what sort of beans you have available in Tokyo. A pinto bean is just kind of the average, everyday bean in the States. It's kind of tan colored with darker brown speckles, and when it cooks it's just one color brown all over. I'm sure any kind of bean would work. What's your favorite? Black beans would look pretty, contrasting with the orange squash.

UGH! I am NOT having fun! LMAO!!! I mean for crying out loud, why can't people just leave me alone ;( . I'm kidding, of course, but yet there's a hint of truth in my statement. The word is out that I'm home and everybody and their freaking brother feels a need to call me. And...and nobody gives a hoot about anything I have to say -- they just want to vent and they want ME to listen ;( .

My sister, whom I love with all my heart (God bless her sweet soul), has called twice today and twice yesterday. My BFF called me 3 times today. My end of the conversation sounded like this..."uh huh...yea...oh!...mmmhmmm...uh huh...uh...mmmmm...a...mmmhmmm"...*SIGH*

So I guess I rather shamelessly barged in here and did the very thing I was just complaining about :p .

Rant over ;) :D

I have stuff to do and I'm going to ignore my phone for the rest of the day. I haven't done a workout yet this week and that's what I intend to do right now -- Push Pull followed by a walking DVD. I have lots of chores, too, and errands which I'm blowing off until tomorrow.

Augie, Dana, Jennifer, Cuz, Robin, and Jen -- I've read your posts but I squandered my time with narcissistic banter http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/7.gif . I promise to come back and do personals later this evening :*
