Damage Control . . . Week of July 24

OK. I should NOT be the one starting this thread. But I knew I was behind and went looking . . . realized we were still posting on the "week of July 10" thread.

So, here I am! :D

Just arrived back in Texas to "stay" until we go back to Africa. I have a couple little "jaunts" like the Cathe RT this weekend (woo hoo!!!!), but nothing long, and nothing with the whole fam.

I must kick my rear in gear to be ready to go on Friday--a tough video tomorrow, a run on Tuesday, we'll see for Wed, and Thurs.

Then, I ought to be able to have 4 solid weeks after the RT to settle into routine, work off some of the "extra" I've accumulated through a travel diet and lack of workouts, and head back to Africa without too much Stateside damage.

Well, there's a game plan!

Diana--any big news. Sounds like you're still plugging away at WW. Good job. Any big news for you?
 
Good Morning!

Thank you LauraR for starting the new thread. I was looking to see if anyone had started it. I was going to if not.

Y'day's work out was half of HiiT DWP, 3 tabata drills from Breathless Body and the weighted abs core segment from Rapid Fire Kick Box and Core Burn.

After my work out we spent the afternoon poolside at DH's cousin's house again (we went there last weekend too). It's fun but not good for my diet. :eek: I had a cheese burger, a hot dog and 2 rum and cokes. :eek: Luckily it hasn't "hurt" me yet and hopefully I can get through the summer w/o that happening cause I think we may be there a lot now until the weather turns...

Today's work out is Body Rock ofcourse. The work out for July 18th. Looks tough! Only 16 mins though so I am hoping for a cardio add on of some sort. We will see.

LauraR:: I've been on WW since April 15. It's a long slow road but it's working and I'm thrilled! 8 pounds gone and another 2 pounds to go!!!!!:DYou must be happy to finally be settling down in one spot and w/the RT coming up too! FUN!

On that note, I need to get my arse in gear or I won't have time to add on to my w/o...

Hi Ladies,

I'm on vacation this week to take care of the girls. I've decided I'm not doing this next year. We've basically spent our vacation money and vacation time on getting the girls out here and taking care of them. DS is going to have to step up financially...and we need our own vacation. We'll have to figure something out. I do enjoy every minute I get to spend with the girls!

Holding and carrying the girls yesterday has re-injured my shoulder. It was doing pretty good after my rest week between meso 2 and 3. C&B hurts it a bit but I want to push through and finish STS before starting my next rotation of P90X and Insanity Hybrid. Today's workout will be Intensity and abs.

LauraR-The only news I have is that I have a job interview on Thursday. I get paid less than my teammates for doing the same work. After yet another discussion with HR, it doesn't sound like anything is going to change. I've been with the company for over 21 yrs so its hard to move on, but I need to do what's best for me and my family. You will have a great time on the Road Trip! When do you head back to Africa and where will you live?

Wendy-Nice workout! I just previewed it and I bet those dragon lunges with weight were tough...as well as the jump squats/tuck jump..pushup torture! I'm sure it's fun hanging out at the pool. Have you considered packing your own food? Maybe you can take boca burgers and fruit. I'm preparing my food as though I'm working so that will help me stay on track this week.

LauraT-are you still on your extended weekend?

Lori-what are you up to?
 
Hi Girls

I am eating my lunch...or I am shoving it in my face...either way....its lunch time;)

I ended up being sick yesterday evening:( I don't know if it's b/c I cut back on the pills or I was just having an "off" day. I know that the air fresheners at work were bothering me yesterday morning. They use to really be strong when I first found out I was pregnant but this week they didn't seem so bad, until yesterday. When I went back to work last night it was like someone was holding it under my nose. Also, dinner gave me heart burn. Just not a great day!

Anyway....I am going to my parents house for a couple of days with my sister. I am hoping to get some run/walks in while I am there. Hopefully it won't be to hot.

LauraR** Yes...I am preggo! I guess I have finally come to trems with it:eek: I am 13 weeks now. I disappeared for a while b/c I wasn't feeling well and I wasn't working out. I have started feeling better and managed 4 workouts last week. Some day I will attend a RT!!!

Wendy** Summer and Christmas play havic on the diet. Being pregnant kind of does to:p I am looking forward to doing WW's after I pop this baby out!

Diana** I can see where you are coming from. I bet it was hard for you to actually admit that and then type it. You've spent a good part of your life and money rasing kids (and its still not over) It would be nice if you could take your money and do something fun with it. Taking care of kids is not a vacation. You will probably go back to work more tired then you are now!

I may bbl...or may be able to check in tomorrow. Depends on how high maintance DS is at my parents house!

Di:: I don't blame you and DH for wanting DS to step up a bit. It's great of you and DH to do what you do but you are not the parents so you shouldn't have to spend all of that money and give up all of that vacation time to watch/care for them. I understand that you want to spend time with them but you shouldn't feel like you have to be the ones to do the brunt of it or they will never come to visit. I hope you can work out it out with your DS. :) Yes, I chose to do the dragon lunge row thing with a 30# DB and whoah boy was it tough! :eek: I did the squats with a 25# DB. I didn't find the burpees as tough as they've been in the past. Am I actually getting BETTER at them??? :D The last combo exercise for time was crazy hard. I had to stop quite a few times cause I couldn't breathe anymore. :eek:

Lori:: Sorry you got sick again. Hopefully it was just a fluke. WW is the best thing that ever happened to me diet-wise! OMG! It's wonderful! I hope you have as much success as I have had! You will probably do even better as you are prone to being naturally slender. :) I am at a lower weight now then I've seen IN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing! :D


So I must tell you ladies! I got 2 compliments this weekend!!!! I am still floating on a cloud over them! Makes it all worth the effort! :D The first was from a male cousin of mine at the party on saturday whom I think works out as well. He told me that I looked good and that I was buff! Then he joked that he would lose to me in an arm wrestling contest. We got a good laugh out of that. ;) The 2nd was y'day at my DH's cousin's house. He told me I am "in perfect shape". YAY! :D Feels great when all of the hard work gets noticed, doesn't it? :cool:

Holy cow our thread was buried! :(

DOMS in the quads today! Felt it creeping in when I got up to use the restroom in the middle of the night! :eek:

This was today's work out:: BODYROCK.tv | Fitness Advice, Workout Videos, Health & Fitness | Bodyrock.tv + 15 mins of KCM 30mtf K/B and abs/stretch from High Reps. Good stuff! :D I really enjoyed this BR work out. It was a great challenge but it wasn't crazy hard. Some parts were more intense then others but it was a nice mix of tough with not so tough so I wasn't dying the ENTIRE time! :p Hence my energy to do some cardio and abs afterwards! ;)

Good Morning Ladies,

OMG, bootcamp is getting harder and harder. We did a ton of running, sprinting and hills, pushups, burpees, dips, squat jumps and abs. My legs were jello by the time we were done.

The girls took a late nap and DH didn't get them up. I woke them up at 8:30 pm UGH. DH was pissed because the girls were playing and noisy in the middle of the night. I wanted to wake them up before I left for class but he said not too.

Not sure what I will do today. My shoulder is still hurting pretty bad and I don't want to attempt C&B. Maybe another cardio this afternoon...tbd.

Wendy-nice going with the compliments, you deserve them! This workout looked much more sane if you will. So far my weight is holding steady.

Okay...it's 9:30 and the girls are waiting on me to run through the sprinklers with them. :D
 
Diana:: Thanks re the compliments. Hope the sprinklers were fun with the girls! I am a cold water weenie. I can't handle that stuff. I am the one who inches into an 85 degree pool!!!! LOL :p Holding steady on the scale is great!!! Soon you will probably see a downward trend!!! :) Just keep the chocolate and the mojitos consumption at a moderate level! ;):D

Morning.

Today is my rest day. Tmrw it's back to Body Rock. Going to try to add in one BP per day to my BR rotation. Just not sure what work out(s) to use for that yet. Better decide fast though if I want to start this tmrw! :eek:

Good Morning Ladies,

The girls' uncle is here on vacation and is probably going to take the girls to the zoo today. He's a nice kid, about 20yrs old I think. He's in the army and has to report to Camp Pendleton in CA the first week of August. He and his fiance came by to visit us once already.

So glad I checked my work calendar....my interview is today...not tomorrow like I thought! It's just a phone interview with folks from my company, but a different division that what I currently work for. I've worked with the guy (over the phone/email) who's interviewing me for the past 2-3 years.

Not sure if this will be a cardio or STS leg day. I really messed up my shoulder again carrying/holding the girls for pictures. I actually took a vicodin last night.

Wendy-I suggest GS one body per day be added to your rotation. What do you think? I just got P90X back last night. My next rotation will be an X/Insanity hybrid. I'm sure it's posted somewhere, may have to do some checking.

LauraR-when do head to Jersey for the RT?

LauraT/Lori-what are you ladies up to today?

Better get my w/o on or it's not going to happen. bbl
 
Diana:: IDK. I thought the heavier lifting in GS might be too much as an add on w/BR every day. I was thinking CTX but who really knows?? So tough to decide. :rolleyes: I pulled out BBC last night. Would love to incorporate that weigh twork actually but they are 2 BP's per day so they are more tiring and longer work outs. May not be doable...Good luck on your interview! What type of position is this that you are interviewing for? I've seen a couple versions of the hybrid you are referring to and seriously considered doing it before. Just another rotation I haven't gotten around to yet though. :eek:

Wendy-I was thinking CTX too if you wanted to focus more on endurance. The job I applied is basically what I'm doing today, but for another division. Since I can't seem to get paid equally as my teammates for doing the same work, I've decided to start looking.
 
Okay--decided to give PS a shot for 1BP a day. I think it's kind of in between CTX and GS as far as endurance vs strength goes. I'll keep ya posted! Starting tmrw with back work!!!! :D

Hello -

I am back!!! and MAJOR DAMAGE CONTROL is in order -AWWWW LAAWD - no telling how bad I have been :eek: I should turn into a crab leg and/or a peice of prime rib!!! :eek::eek::confused: and CABS :eek::eek::eek: even worse - but MAN DID WE HAVE A BLAST!!!! We went to Biloxi and Gulfport .. We had THE BEST time! GREAT anniversary gettaway!!! I did exercise before leaving .. but afraid too little compared to what I consumed - tonight's class is gonna KILL ME :eek: :confused: :eek:

DI - sounds like DS better step up on the $$$$$ that is a LOT for ya'll to take on - GOOD LUCK on the interview - maybe this will work out and be better for you all the way round!!!

Wendy - WTG on the workouts glad you had my slack!!!! :p yes I am bringing myself back to reality!! Getting back on the good eats and major exercise!! :D

Lori - every one of my friends who got preggers SMELLS were the worse!!! maybe you are almost thru the worst of it tho!!! Hang in there

OK .. so tonight's class is gonna be a mish mosh of plyo and weights - gonna be killer!! Tmrw I have a safety meeting - will try to check in via the droid - I didnt get up this mornign but planning to get back on track tmrw mrng - I tell ya we have been traveling so I am SOOOO READY for a CALM weekend at the house .. it has been neglected!!! OK .. have a great one!!
 
Morning Ladies,

I took the girls to the zoo yesterday and met up with Amanda's brother, his fiance and her sister and baby daughter. It was fun and the girls had a great time.

I ended up doing plyo legs yesterday so today is cardio day. Nothing is really coming to mind so I'll pick something out when I get downstairs...bootcamp is sure to kick my butt tonight too.

My interview went well, but they said they had a lot of applicants. I probably have a leg up since I already work for the same company. He said it may be several weeks before I hear back from them.

Wendy-I saw your BR w/o this morning on FB. Do you use a medicine ball for the UGI ball? Those UGI balls are expensive. I have a 10# med ball that would work just fine. It's squishy so I think it would work. Not sure if I could balance myself on a regular med. ball.

Laura-glad you had a great anniversary weekend. You have been away lately so I'm sure some low-key time at home will be appreciated. How was class last night?

Diana:: I looked at that ugi ball and yes, waaaay too expensive as is the sandbag! :rolleyes: I did the skaters on a beach bag stuffed with towels. I did the burpees with an 8# med ball. I did the swings with a 30# kb. Glad you all had fun at the zoo. I enjoy a good trip to the zoo as well. Thankfully my son enjoys them also. :)

LauraT:: Sounds like you had a fantastic get away for your anniversary! How'd you fair in class last night? Our next casino trip is scheduled for Labor Day w/e though one could pop up sooner...ya never know! LOL
