Clean Eaters June 4

Cathlete
Good morning gang! I guess we're all sleeping in this morning ;)? Just kidding...it's my first day off in awhile (on account of rain - YEAH!!!!!) so I did force myself to sleep past 5:00am. I've had my breakfast and can't wait to do IMAX 3!!! It'll be my first workout in a week and I was really starting to miss it.

I love the idea of a roll call and really want to keep this going for as long as it can. It has really helped me this past week.

Name: Wendi
Age: 30
Location: Middletown, NY
Occupation: Horse trainer/barn manager
Children: None
SO/DH/DF: BF, Tom, of 2 years
I'm doing this challenge to break my sugar addiction and help me through the summer months when my work doesn't allow for consistent workouts and to lose my pesky back fat by the middle of summer.
Favorite Cathe workout: Ooh, toughie! My go-to DVD has to be IMAX 2.

B - 2 hardboiled egg whites with guacamole and oatmeal
S - Not sure yet
L - having lunch with BF...will probably have some sort of salad or one of the Weight Watcher's choices at Applebees with double veggies
S - Not sure yet
D - broiled tilapia with mango/cantaloupe salsa, steamed veggies and plain yogurt with fruit for dessert

I hope everyone has a great day and welcome back to everyone who wants to continue with us!

Wendi

Goodmorning Wendi and all who follow. Last night I had an oops, but it wasn't as bad as oopes in the past. I had a handful of Nilla's and a bowl of cereal with soy milk before bed.

As far as the roll call goes:
Robin
51 yrs
North central PA
Microbiologist
Special needs son - 23
Daughter - 19
Special needs grandson - 7 months
Married to DH 30 years
Goals, reasons - I have no problem with the working out aspect of a healthy life style, but the eating healthy is a hugh problem for me. I hope to tighten up some of the jiggle and evaporate some of the flab before my yearly vacation to the beach in July and the road trip in August.
My favorite Cathe workout varies from day to day, but probably Rhythmic Step or Step Blast

Today's b-fast and lunch as the same - WW eng muffin w/ almond butter, banana, nat PB & J on WW, carrots, tomato and fruit salad. Dinner is still up in the air, but probably a pork roast that has been marinating in the frig for close to a week. Have no fear, the date on the package says good till mid June. Probably full of all kinds of unclean preservatives, huh? So I'll have just a sliver. Salad and maybe some roasted vidallias as a side. No workout today. I'm going to a bloodmobile after work. Have a clean day all.

OK....here's me:

Name: Gayle
Age: 35
Location: Nazareth PA
Occupation: SAHM
Children: Jacob, 9 and Zachary 6
SO/DH/DF: Fiance Mike (no wedding date in sight, lol)
I'm doing this challenge to keep me accountable and get back to my goal weight (about 12 pounds to go). Seems I like a challenge and as soon as I GET to goal, I can't STAY at goal. I'm taking this one day at a time.
Favorite Cathe workout: Ooh, I agree...a toughie. Currently, Drill Max and the Pyramids. But it changes all the time! lol

Today is day 7 in a row for me and clean eating. My summer shorts are beginning to fit once again! Nice feeling. Here's my menu plan for the day:
B: Bran cereal and soy milk
S: banana
L: grilled chicken on a salad with balsamic vinegar
S: apple
D: grilled ham, steamed rutabaga (or carrots), baked potato
S: if needed, tonight is going to be a treat of a Chex Mix

This morning's workout was a 5 mile run (45 minutes) and Stretch Max 3. I'm currently following Cathe's June 07 rotation. I actually started it last week on June 1st!

Can't wait to 'meet' everybody!

Gayle

Hey girls! I'm back! My weekend was stupidly busy and I didn't get on the computer until last night very briefly.

Name: Shelley
Age: 43
Location: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Occupation: Senior Administrator for a Propery Developer (we build mostly luxury high-rise condominiums)
Children: One daughter, age 9
SO/DH/DF: Chris is my SO of 6 years
Reason/Goal: I guess I'd like to have more control over what goes into my mouth. It's pretty sad when some days, the first thing I do after getting out of bed is grab a cookie. I have a really poor family health history and I'd like to keep myself as healthy as possible to try to stave some of that off. I also have that layer of flab that I'd like to see diminished and as one gets older, it's more difficult to do that with just exercise.
Favorite Cathe workout: I don't really have a fave. It used to be Bootcamp, but these days it changes with my mood.:p For strength, I love the Pyramids and the Gym Styles.

Today's plan:

B - mixed cereal with banana and soy milk
S - apple and almonds and raisins
L - a thing my SO made with mashed sweet potatoes and beans and veggies (sort of a like a veggie Shepherd's Pie, I guess)
S - plain fat-free yogurt with granola and berries
D - WW tortilla with egg whites, hot salsa and avocado

Workout today is both Gym Styles Upper Body timesavers and some kind of abs.

Good Morning(I am writing this with one eye open )

Occupation: Writer/Editor
Kids: Our 156 pound Newfoundland,George!
DH:My sweetie and I have been married 4 years, together 7.
Favorite Cathe workout: Oh dear, there are so many. Probably the Pyramids, time just flies by! But each time I get through the original Imax (modifications noted) I feel so accomplished.
Goals: To tame the monster that is my sweet tooth, clean up my diet, limit the wine, limit the amount of junk food we keep in the house.
Maybe even lose a little belly blubber!

On today's menu: Subject to change slightly

B-mango slices, coffee, pear, 1 Tbl peanut butter

S-broccoli sprouts, ff tortilla

L-4 egg whites with spinach, tomatoes, low fat cheese, ff tortilla

S-not sure but maybe some beans and veggies

D-large green salad, broccoli, some sort of protien

Lots of water and an early walk with George before the temps here in Vegas hit the 100's today!

Then 45 minutues elliptical. Tonight's workout is either Legs and Back-P90X, or Cathe PLB

:) Thanks to everyone taking part this week, you all are great motivators!

I am right there with you on that one Shelley!

Hee hee, it felt so good to workout again that I actually tacked the SB Challenge onto the end of IMAX 3...maybe I was suicidal }( . I feel so energized now! I'm actually considering doing LIC or one of the shorter B&G premixes later, that's how great I feel right now. We'll see how the rest of the day goes...

I'm off to grab some flaxseed bread and PB and I'm out the door.

Have a good one everyone.
Wendi

Why are you doing this challenge? What are your goals? I need to get better eating habits and into the habit of eating regular meals. I am also addicted to sugar and needed to show myself I could cut it out (at least temporarily).
Favorite Cathe workout: Body Max 2 or Drill Max (right now...they always change)

Name: Patty (iris is a favorite flower)
Age: 44
Location: Ohio
Children: 3 of 'em 17, 16, 12
Occupation: SAHM
SO/DH/DF: DH for 22 years
Why are you doing this challenge?: It's a great reality check. I am working on losing weight. Thinking "eat clean" helps me learn so much about about why I eat and overeat certain foods.
Favorite Cathe Workouts: I'm kind of a beginner here. Currently, it's the LIC premixes. I just can't make it though an entire advanced Cathe yet.

Nice to "meet" everyone!

Ooops, forgot to post plan:
B- plain yogurt with berries
s- oatmeal
L- salad with leftover grilled chicken, banana
s- pineapple, a few nuts
D- barley soup, veggie stirfry
s- not sure

Last night I had chicken and veggie wraps in wh wh tortilla.
After dinner the kids gave me a belated birthday gift (they had misplaced). Can you guess... ...a small box of chocolates that they selected themselves. I ate 2 of the turtles. The kids insist that they don't want any because they are for me. DH is out of town...what do I do with the rest?

I'm doing this challenge to keep me on track! I need some accountability and this seems to be working for me. Hi everyone,

Got back from San Diego Thursday night (I was eating clean - I did REALLY - I lost 3 lbs while I was gone). But totally fell off track Friday, Sa and Su - got a little stressed with work and had a few (too many) glasses of wine.

Roll call:

Name: Carola
Age: 42
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Occupation: Real Estate Consultant
Children: Samuel, 11 and Tristan, 7 plus Scooter, 1 (mini aussie), Tuxedo, 1 (mini aussie), Pepper, 2 (mini aussie), Cody, 9 (German Shepherd mix), Nemo, 2 (house cat and king of the castle), Tinkerbell, 4 (scardy cat - doesn't like the dogs)

DH: Paul, married for 10 years

Why join the check in? Accountability, having to check in and confess, makes me not want to mess up. Need to lose quite a bit of weight brought on by "diets" which didn't start until my mid 30s and coincidentially moving to the US.

Fav workouts: DrillMax, Rythmic Step, KPC & PUB, PLB

B: Raspberry Protein Shake
S: Apple + cottage cheese 1/2 c
L: Sushi
S: No idea
D: Shrimp and Salmon stir-fry on arugula, asperagus & snowpeas

Have a great day everyone.

Carola

>Carola! My DS is a Tristan too!

That's cool, Robin! I don't see that name very often, got it from "Legends of the Fall" and because I thought no one could butcher it with a nick name. WRONG! My older son couldn't pronounce Tristan and called him Tristi, much to my dismay it stuck and people who have known him for a while call him Tristi - grrrrrhhhhh.

How old is your Tristan?

Carola

Good morning everyone. May I please join? I need all the help I can get with this! Like Robin, I don't have much of a problem with my workouts but I do have difficulty with my eating habits. I plan to do this five days a week (Monday-Friday) & then take the weekends off, for the most part. So I hope it's okay to join you & here is my roll call information:

Name: Kel (Kelly)
Age: 39
Location: The beautiful Appalachian Mountains of NE TN
Occupation: Designer (Special Brick Shapes)
Children: A spoiled furry little fella named Skippy
SO/DH/DF: Tony, married 18 years this November, together 20 years this past March
Reason/Goal: I need to be much more aware of what I put in my mouth, especially regarding whether it's truly clean or not. I eat healthy most of the time but I'm obviously not doing something right because I'm not seeing the results I desire, even though I work out intensely 5 days a week & do construction work at least one day during the weekend too. So I'd like to post my meals & hopefully get some feedback. I also need to eliminate the glass of wine or beer I tend to consume during the evenings when winding down from my day at work.
Favorite Cathe workout: For cardio, I'd pick IMAX 2 & Pyramids for strength. For total body, I'd pick Muscle Endurance & for a circuit workout, I think I'd choose Boot Camp.

Today didn't start out that great because I forgot to set my alarm & when I woke up, it was too late to work out & too early to get in the shower... so I sipped on my coffee until it was time to get ready for work. But I was really looking forward to working out out & getting back on track after the long weekend we spent in Nashville. I did not eat (or drink - LOL!) clean for the past 3 1/2 days but we stayed downtown & did a lot of walking so I'm hoping that helped offset it. It's also TTOTM & I'm just feeling very bloated & yucky. Anyway, since I didn't work out this morning, I haven't been as hungry as I normally am so here is what I have consumed so far & what I plan for the rest of the day:

Wake Up - 2 cups of coffee & 3- 8 oz glasses of water

Meal 1 - 10 oz. Acai juice
16.9 oz. water with White Tea to Go mixed in
large banana
(I usually eat a lot more than this but just wasn't hungry)

Snack - I didn't have one this morning but usually do

Meal 2 - sushi tray with 5 pieces each:
Carrot, cucumber, avocado, & imitation crabmeat
16.9 oz. water

Snack - nonfat yogurt or 2% cottage cheese (or both, probably, to prepare for my workout tonight)
dried fruit (maybe some raisins)
16.9 oz. water with White Tea to Go mixed in
(I wish I had the darn apple I left in the refrigerator this morning!)

On the way home, more water & a handful of almonds before working out.

Workout: I've had all the Jari Love DVDs for awhile now but I've been so hooked on Cathe that I haven't wanted to try them out. So I decided I'd give them a try this week. I may regret it but I'm going to give it a try anyway. Tonight will be Ripped 1000 & I have RTTC planned for Wednesday but if I don't get much out of it tonight, I may switch to ME.

Meal 3 - large mixed greens salad with cucumber, broccoli, tomato, bell pepper, roasted red pepper, pickles, carrots, mushrooms, kidney beans, peas, & chicken breast (honey dijon grilled)... all drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

More water throughout the evening.

Thanks for continuing this check in & I look forward to any advice you ladies can offer regarding my eating habits. As I stated above, today has not been typical for me because I didn't start my day out as I normally do. I think it will help to post my daily plan & be accountable for what I put in my mouth. I also think it will help to abstain from alcohol during the week. On a side note, I still plan to take the weekends off, have my Mexican cheat meal & a few beers or a couple glasses of wine. We usually make a large breakfast one day each weekend too. I'm not much into sweets so my weakness tends to lie in snacks like chips with guacamole & salsa. However, I think this check in will help keep my eating habits in the forefront of my mind, even when I'm not checking in. So thanks again, sorry so long, & I look forward to being accountable for the next 4 1/2 days!

Hi, Just got home, phewwww...what a day! Kindergarten, need I say more:D

I'm soooo proud of myself...I stared temptation right in the eye and said "NO"... There were peanut butter cookies, chocolate oreos and potato chips in the teacher's lounge...and the worst part of it was it's that time of the month...and I still turned away from the cravings:):):)
