Cathlete
Hiya ladies!

This is going to have to be a fly by (again, *sigh*)...sorry:(. I'm going to be MIA for the next two days because DSO and I are taking a long overdue mini vacay. We're coming home Monday night but I have the horrible feeling that I will be coming home to not-very-good news:(:(. The person I've told you about in the yahoo group is *not* well and it really could be any day now. Her kidneys have shut down. To tell ya the truth I half expect to get a phone call while I'm away...thank goodness we'll only be about two hours away. So, if you guys don't hear from me for awhile, well, that would be why.

Sorry to bring downer-energy here. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

the road is open

Good morning, everyone!

Christine :: *lol* Okaaaay, no cheese in Chitown.
biggrin.gif
There *is* something a little creepy about the bodies, but it's not a gross-out, gotta-toss-my-cookies kind of visual, IMO...That's what I figured--I get to Baltimore once a year or every two years, so that's what life's about. Enjoying the experience and forgetting numbers sometime. I guess it worked out calorie-wise b/c I was so full, I didn't feel a need to eat dinner...I'm a Zappo's fan, too. Cute kicks, and they look comfy, too...enjoy your ride today!

Gloria :: Same for me re: bio--of course, we're WTs. :) I am just generally not ready to deal, still. I'm going to have to skim the two books my principal wanted me to read. Glad to hear Pip is doing so well.

Jackie :: I have tried the pillow between the knees thing. It is comfortable, but I wind up tossing during the night, so I lose it. Phelps' win was amazing. I didn't see the medley last night, but I saw on the news he beat Spitz's record. What a phenomenal athlete he is, and still down to earth. Love that. I watched some of the women's heats for the 100 yesterday. Too bad you missed your neighbor. How are the cabinets looking?

Wendy :: glad you enjoyed the class...have a great long run today.

Dallas :: I would guess it's probably not a bug but the stress that is taking its toll on your stomachs. Feel better! Sounds like getting out of the house is good...today's run will probably be somewhere between 11-13.

Carole :: I saw it (Dex) in the Target ad after I posted...like I need an excuse to spin over there. :) 110? Positively a cold front. ;) What a helluva summer our CA cheetahs have had in that respect. How's the smoke situation these days?...*lol* about your reaction to DH's skinny comment.

Wendi :: I can't think of anyone who deserves a vacation more than you. I'm very sorry to hear this about your friend. ((HUGS))

Posh, darling :: if you're around...can you tell me what brand/model of hand-held hydration you prefer? Thanks much! I don't recall anyone else saying they run with handhelds, but if you do, I'd love to hear all recommendations. :)

This morning will be somewhere in the vicinity of 11-13. Looking forward to getting out there & being one with the road.

Have a great Sunday!

forum slacker, here! i didn't realize the amount of time i spent on the forums at work until they BLOCKED IT!!! every time i tried to get on, it would say it was blocked becuase it was PORNOGRAPHY!!! whatever!!! what do they expect me to do? work?!?! i can't evcen get on to the workout manager or nutrition software (also, apparently porn). so, i think i have been on the forums a total of three times this week. wah!

since the kids started this week and i have been fighting a post-rt cold, i don't feel like doing ANYTHING once i get home. i did manage three workouts this week, so that's pretty good.

today, i am headed up to the sanctuary to help clean up. feed, etc. we have a goat that got his horn stuck on something (we don't know what) but he pretty much pulled it clear off! supposedly, it's kind of hanging and very deep (poor baby). the funny /ironic (but not really funny) thing is, when he was a baby he was attacked by an animal (who knows what) and lost his ear. so, his full name is billy one-ear. now, he's going to be billy one-ear/one-horn!!! we also have a very sick alpaca who, when they picked him up, could not hold his head up. it is very touch-and-go. we got it from a lady who also has donkeys, horses, etc. but can't afford to care for them. i know she rescued them with good intentions, but gee-whiz., if you can't take care of them PLEASE just call a rescue that can.

anyway, i have to leave to head up there in about 40 minutes and have to get my stuff together so this will be short (and i feel so lost as to what is going on with all of you...).

wendi-it was soooooooo great to meet you and sooooooo much fun to take the class with you.

wt-i can't believe we didn't get to spend any "real" time together. i am thinking...ARUBA! i still owe you a phone call.

wendy-i don't remember if i told you, but #1, thanks for saving my arse from falling at the step class, and #2, i had NO IDEA that was you! i was so in my own world. i am so sorry. i guess i can maybe forgive you for shunning me. ;)

judy-i think i saw somewhere about you reading gillian's book. i will not bore everyone on the list with my comments, but i think there are some good things and some things i wouldn't do (like juicing, forinstance. i would rather eat the whole thing with the fiber and all).

shelly-so sorry you missed step on friday, but i couldn't really imagine you going with all you had to do (then again, you are SUPERWOMAN!!!).

carole-has the smoke gone completely?

dallas-did i see somewhere that you ran a half? CONGRATS!!! i LOVE that distance!

christine-i hop eyou are enjoying your busy, but fun, weekend of plans and parties!!!

hello to jackie, karen, posh, and anyone else i missed. sorry, besides feeling cheetah-deprived, i woke up (wide awake) at 3:45 and am a leetle sleepy!

love to you all. say a little prayer for our two sick babies.

Good Morning Girls.

So I was watching the news this morning with no sound and it appears that Phelps succeeded in breaking the gold medal world record? Also, did anyone watch the womens marathon? I watched the first 45 minutes but then we turned it off to play GH and by the time we were done it was over. I went online and found the top 3 but I want to know where Radcliffe finished! Anyone know her place and time??

Ummm. I should be just about ready to roll for my long run right about now but I overslept so I'm still half asleep and workin' on coffee #1. OOPS!

That being said, I will work on catching up with personals until the coffee is gone...

Carole: Our temps cooled off here on th east coast and it looks like we sent it over your way PLUS a few degrees! Yeowzas! So how far are you from Vegas? I ask because DH and I are heading there (Vegas) for a week in March 09!

Cathy: Over-doing it (eating over cal range/eating "bad" foods) is not going to hurt anyone's long term goals. The key is to over-do it in moderation and sometimes moderation goes out the window! LOL

Christine: I have to laugh at what cheese does to you only because I have that issue with most foods I eat lately it seems. LOL The healthier I eat, the gassier I am! They the SBD type too. Sometimes I even gross myself out! LOL Cute shoes! Let us know how they feel! And how far are you from Vegas?? If you hadn't read what I wrote to Carole, I will be there in March of 09.

Gloria: I thought the biology class I had in college was OKAY...until I had to disect a baby pig! I can't handle much of anything these days. LOL

Jackie: Centergy is described as a yoga/pilates mix but it's 99% yoga IMO. I have to take 3 classes a month to maintain my "free" employee membership at the gym or else they charge me dues.

Dallas: I get to run 9 miles TODAY! I should be out there already but I overslept. GRRR. I have to take ANY 3 classes a month at my gym in order to maintain my "free" employee membership. If I don't, I get charged dues. I think it's a lousy policy but there is nothing I can do about it. Yeah, Joey still naps so I nap when he naps. Gotta love it! LOL

Wendi: Very sorry to hear about your sick friend. That's so sad. :( ((((HUGS)))) Try to make the best of your time away with DSO. Where ya off to? Some place romantic? ;)

Lorie: I have to admit I was a bit miffed at your reaction to me when Cathy and I saw you in the hallway. It did cross my mind thought that perhaps you just didn't realize who I was. Oh well. It happens. Next time I'll make sure I walk in with name tag on my forehead!:p

So we went out y'day and bought Joey a toddler bed. *sniff sniff-my baby is growing up! WAAAAH!* He got a Cars bed. It is red and black with a pic of Lightening McQueen and Mater on it. He LOVES it! He slept in it last night with no trouble at all! Now we have to break down the crib and changing table and re-arrange the room so that we can put the bed in a proper place. Ofcourse the bed COMPLETELY clashes with the rest of the room! LOL I am tempted to ask DH to re-paint the room cause it's gonna bother me...:p

I had another cheat night last night as we went out for pizza where I had a beer and then later on we played a bit of GH so I had a glass of Sprite and "mouthwash" plus a serving of baked tortilla chips with some salsa. When I entered it into the program though I was still within my cals and everything in the weight control area was still A's but the alcohol grade so although that was 2 cheats in a row I don't feel too bad about it. In addition, I will be logging 9 miles this morning. I am sure some of it will get burned off!;)

Okay if I don't shut up soon I'll NEVER make it out for my run! LOL

BBL!

Good morning cheetahs

Wendi...I hope you can have a nice vacay with DSO. Sorry to hear about your friend...sending {{{HUGS}}}

Cathy...so I can't bring any string cheese to Chicago??...:)..I checked Target a few times for Dex, but didn't see it on their upcoming new releases. Figures they would have it this week after I ordered it!! The smoke has been good. One night last week it socked in during the evening but that does not happen near as frequent. Funny as the smoke is what was keeping our temps down so honestly right now I don't really mind the heat! I watched Micheal swim last night with the other USA team...phenomenal!! I am sure DH was trying to be nice, I am just crappy at taking compliments...:)..Have a great run.

Lorie...how sad about that goat..you have my prayers for both animals. I do agree with you about people who take animals and cannot care for them. The smoke is mostly all gone and the blue sky is back (so are the high temps!!) Every now and then we get some smoke but nothing like it was for those 35 days.

Wendy...Radcliffe was one of the frontrunner's until abit over 13 miles and she faded to the back of the pack. I am not sure where she placed but nowhere near the top 3. I am probably about 900 miles from LV, which is why I flew last year!! Isn't it nice you can cheat a bit and still get good grades!! Hope the 9 miles goes well.

I am planning on a 11-12 mile trail run with my sister and friend. Getting out before it gets too hot!!

Hi Cheetahs!

MIA Cheetah here!

Wendy- Paula Radcliffe came in 23rd at 3:32.38 . She was 5:54 behind the leader. The first American finished at 27th at around 6:30 behind the leader. We went out to dinner with DS21 and ate at the bar and watched the marathon for a bit. Then we went home, and I had to pick DD from a party and missed the end, but DS recorded it. So we did get to see the end.... let us know how your 9 miles went today. I am yearning to run outside again, but I need to rest this foot before it gets beyond the point of no return.

Cathy- I have always preferred a glass warm water in the morning right after teeth brushing . The cold water is too shocking to me first thing. I guess it was good and I didn't even realize it.

Lorie- I noticed you were absent this week. That stinks about work blocking this site. I have read so many nutririon books that I am cautious. they are after all trying se sell these books for a profit. None of them are a bible to me. No I will not be complicating my life with juicing either. ( waste of money and too time consuming) I mainly try to eat simple minimally prepared and my own 'pyramid' of veggies on the bottom, then fruits and grains, then legumes and nuts & fish, then eggs and dairy, and sweets and alcohol on the top. (*Realistically, alcohol is more like second from the top:p)

Wendi- I hope your friend does OK, and that you can enjoy 48 hours of bliss with DSO

Hi Dallas! How are things today?

Shelly- Is the internet getting any faster at the new pad?

Carole- did you say 110 degrees? Yikes do you stay indoors ? Is the grass brown? We have had such a rainly summer that our grass is lush and we are cutting it twice a week. DS15 is not happy about that!

Hi Christine- What are you up to this weekend? How is Kimono? Did you do some Zappos buying? I have been on Zappos quite a bit this week in the quest for new black pumps and ankle boots. So, far I am 1 for 7 with purchases, but it is so easy to return that I do not mind. For a short person 5'2", I have big wide feet: size 8.5 D width) I am having a bit of luck with Stuart Weitzman shoes lately.

Well I managed to golf walking the course yesterday. But I wore my cross trainers instead of my golf shoes. The added lateral stability definately helped. I am still holding off on running for a bit longer. Today will be the EXT. And I think I'll have to slow down my inntervals on the TM when I get back to it.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

EEEWWW...way nasty weight lifting injury at the Olympics! This one is a bit too graphic to show on TV...
no-no.gif

Judy...The 110 was a cooling from the previous day of 117! Most everything is brown!! We do have some green grass out front.

Morning Cheetahs!

I got to hold my nephew last night! He is sooooo cute! I forgot the camera! DOH! I can't believe my kids were ever that teeny. It really is a miracle. :) I'm so happy my in-laws got out to see the baby too.

I plan on doing EXT, upper body weights and core today. I took too many rest days last week. Don't need one today. I have to get some groceries. I was hoping to make lasagna for mil before Tues. She won't have much of an appetite after Tues.:(

Judy ~ Glad your foot gave you no trouble during golf! You sound like you're taking the smart approach w/it. :)

Carole ~ I heard about the weight lifting injury. Don't think I need to see that! Enjoy that 12 miler! Do you have trail shoes? And regular running shoes?

Wendy ~ Dh and I were watching it too, but I had it Tivo'd. I He kept saying that it was boring, so we FF through most of it. WTG on your grade even though you had some cheats! ;) Too bad you can't find a class you really like. I do like the "free" dues part though! Enjoy your 9 miler today!

Lorie ~ Bummer about the site being blocked. :( How sad about the animals! That's so nice you volunteer your time. :) Yep, I was so happy I did it (the half). Didn't know if I'd make it to the start line with all that's going on here. It is the perfect distance! enjoy your day. :)

Cathy ~ Gosh, after re-reading my post...you're right!! I have to stay away from my house!! LOL! Enjoy your run....you and the road! Love that emoticon! Did you get your class assignments yet? The kids got their teacher assignments and spent the afternoon calling all their friends. :)

Wendi ~ I'm so sorry about your friend. ((HUGS)) Hope you get to unwind on your mini-vacation.

So, I see DH carrying food into his office and I was like **huh**. I went to check it out and he was logging his food into some nutrition site. I stopped him and told him about Cathe's and pulled out my laptop. We watched the demo together. Very cool!!! I like you can use other's plans to tweak your own and the grading. :)

Oh, I added photos here. Can you see them? I set it to private. I'm guessing "friends" can see them, right?

Fly by posting today. I just got back from my 5k. First one in two years since my knee problems and I did pretty good. I ran it in 26.13 and came in second for my age group. I got a trophy, a gift bag and some perfume. How cool is that. Then to top it off we won a door prize. I got my dh a norelco razor for shaving. How cool. Off today to go to my sisters for a party. See you all tomorrow.

Happy Sunday Cheetahs! Hope the sun is shining brightly for you!

Gloria: Thanks for thinking my shoes are cute. I can’t wait to get them! I think Zappos will have a permanent customer in me. What did you end up doing yesterday? Sounds like you had a great time Friday night, and Pip sounds like a really fun little pup! Jimmy is still a bit nuts in the morning. He gets the zoomies and runs around.:p

Jackie – Yes I do love the support and admiration those two gymnasts showed. I love that they can look past the hype and realize that some days your on, and some days your friend is on, but it’s all good. I watched the woman’s marathon last night. Wow, was she using her abs! You could so see it in every move. I can’t believe she was so ahead of the others. Good job on your run, too bad you didn’t see your neighbor!

Wendy – glad you only have 2 classes to go this month! I think that’s the problem with yogilates – it’s usually more one than the other – but pilates isn’t all abs, either. Yes, Phelps won 8 medals! Amazing man!! Yeah! I was watching the marathon, too – did you see that girls abs working? Amazing. Radcliff came in mid-pack, which was pretty amazing as her leg starting paining her and her face was a mask of pain when she entered the stadium. I cannot believe she finished – but I was all teary-eyed when she did. That, too, is the Olympic Spirit. I’m a quick plane flight (8 hour drive) from Vegas. I’ve never been there, maybe I’ll have to come out and join you!

Dallas – 9 miles! Wow! Glad you had a great time at the beach. Sorry your tummy is bothering you!

Carole – 110 is still hot! We were only in the upper 80’s. But I’ll tell ya I’m ready for fall and cooler temps. I’m tired of being hot and sticky.:p Oh, I didn’t see the weight lifting injury! What happened? Thanks for the heads up, if it comes up on TV, I’ll turn away. Ouch!!

Wendi – Oh, I’m so happy you’re taking a little vacation, but I’m sorry to hear about your loved one. She’ll be in my prayers.

Cathy – Love your little smiley with the daisy! Enjoy your run!! It’s a shorty for you! :p I can see what you mean about the bodies, but it’s just one of those things that I cannot see. I hope the shoes are as cute and comfy as they look. I’m stoked to get them and am planning my outfits around them.

Lorie – we’re missing you here! Glad you popped in today! That is way too bad about work, though! Ick! Oh the poor goat! I do agree with you that if you cannot take care of your rescues, let others who can take over. Poor Alpaca. I love those furry critters!

Judy – Kimo is hanging in there, thanks for asking. She has some bad days, but for the most part, she seems pretty even keeled. This weekend is way too busy – we had a surprise birthday party last night, and we have an old friend of DH’s coming tonight for dinner. At least I get to cook that. :p I have unusual feet as well – I have very short toes. So, it’s tough to find sandals – and those cute peep toe shoes? Forget it. Oh well.

Karen – WAY TO GO!!!! Great job in coming in second in your age group!! That is sooo great!!! So, now you have an even greater stash! Wow, sounds like this is a lucky race for you. What a wonderful way to get back into racing!! :D

Today is a bike ride with my friend. My legs are sore from the hike yesterday, so if we go a little more slowly I’m okay with that. :pAnd the bottoms of my feet hurt again. Mostly my heels. Not sure why, though. I’ll have to have it checked out if it continues. I know I’ve been cycling more than anything, which is non-impact, so maybe that’s it. The party last night was really nice. A lot of good people were there, the food was fabulous – catered with lots of roasted veggies and salads. I did well. Except for the cake I ate. *grins guiltily* It was incredible cake – coffee icing!! I’m not too upset about it. Have a great day all!!

Hi Girls.

I'm done with my nine miler. I finally got out there about 8:15. It was lovely weather to start with but did start to get leetle hot after a bit. Overall it wasn't bad though. The humidity was low thank goodness but the sun was strong. Thankfully I got a lot of shade through out the run so those spots were quite pleasant. Been back for a while now but after stretching and eating I started doing things around the house. I figured if I sat down for TOO long TOO fast, I'd never get up! LOL

So at the end of my run I broke open a couple of the Endurolytes as I could feel the *possibility* of cramps coming on and I wanted to avoid it. The first one went down fine but on the 2nd one I made the big mistake of breathing in while I was pouring it on my tongue. It's the same effect as breathing in powdered sugar, only worse! LOL It was NASTY!

Not much else goin' on around here today. I have a mountain of laundry to fold, more laundry to do and some additional cleaning that is calling me. I also intend to fit in a nap! :)

Oh and before I forget! DH wants to run a 5k with me over Labor Day weekend. He finally got out y'day morning for his first run. He ran just over 3 miles (didn't reach 5k) in just over 28 minutes! He hasn't really run in YEARS! What's up with that!? It took me FOREVER to be able to run one stinkin' mile at a 12 min pace and this guy flies through 3 on his first try. Not nice I tell ya! LOL :p So I am going to sign up BOTH up for the race. I did 2 over Labor Day weekend last year. This is the 2nd of the 2. Fast, flat, out and back by the water. Think I can beat him?? ;)

BBIAB for personals.

Afternoon, cheetahs~ :)

Carole :: well, you are rooming with Christine, so you might wanna re-think that based upon yesterday's admission.;) :) I did not see the weight lifter's injury. I'm afraid to ask...I can see why the heat would be a welcome change. Hope you enjoyed your long trail run.

Christine :: I love the anticipation of packages. Seriously. It must be a sickness. Great thing about Zappo's is how quickly their orders arrive. Your purchase has me thinkin'... I love to wear a nice pair of heels to work, but over the years, I have to admit, it is taking a toll. I would like to find more feet-friendly dress shoe options that still flatter. Might mean having some pants hemmed. Well, I should back up. I'm hoping the pants FIT. *lol* I'm glad that Kimo is hangin' in, tough cookie...Hope your heel pain isn't serious...mm, the cake sounded too good to resist!

Wendy :: I have been so good with this program (I should be losing more! *lol*)--Baltimore was the only day I indulged in any "cheats" and went significantly over by a few hundred cals. However, today's run has me thinking I need to disregard the calorie restriction somewhat the day prior to the long run. I don't plan to go whole hog, but I need to fuel properly. My legs felt like lead today...Great job with your 9. It was gorgeous out there, wasn't it? *lol* about you beating DH...of course you can!

Judy :: I'm curious why Gillian advocates warm water?...Your personal food pyramid made me smile. :) Glad the XTs helped the foot some. Your conservative approach--as frustrating as it must be to hold back from running--sounds like the way to go.

Karen :: AWESOME race!! Big congrats on taking 2nd! Enjoy that party today.

Lorie :: Yeowch! Sounds like a painful time of it for poor Billy. Now why am I getting that "One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People-Eater" song stuck in my head? It's admirable work you do at the sanctuary. Enjoy your day and hope you can nip that cold.

Dallas :: No, we don't see our class lists until we return to school. The kids find out when they get their schedules in homeroom on the first day...I will try to view the pics after I post.

Tough run for me today. Wound up keeping it to 11. That's OK. Some days ya get spanked.

Dallas :: yes, I could view the pics...you look gorgeous! How come I never look that refreshed post-race? *ha ha* And did you take that pic of the building WHILE running? Love what your coach did to your door. :) Thanks for sharing w/ us.

Ended up doing 30 minutes on the EXT, GS-C&T superset premix (I like that one!!) and Kelli's foam rolling. Gotta love that foam roller! I'm dragging my feet on the groceries, but better get to it!

Cathy ~ Great job on the 11!!! :D You got it done that's all that matters, right?!? You're funny! "refreshed"??!?! Must have been the salt scrub. ;):p Are you kidding...run and take pictures!?!??! LOL Nope, DD took it while we were having breakfast at the tent! I still don't know which building it is? I thought the new Trump one, but not sure about that! Thanks about the pictures! :)DD did a much better job than the photo company. UGH! Im curious too about the hand held hydration. I saw runners carrying it during the half. I don't know...I might want to throw it half way through the race though. ;)

Wendy ~ Woo hoo on the 9 miles! lol'd about the powder incident. ;) That's cool dh is going to join you on a race! I'm working on mine. I think running would be a great stress reliever for him. Have fun in the laundry room..I'm caught up for now.

Christine ~ Sounds like a fun night last night. :) Weird about the bottom of your feet with all the low impact (cycling) you've been doing? Is that a common area of pain for cyclists? Oh, my tummy is fine today. I have to keep it boring and bland! UGH! that cake sounds interesting..."coffee icing". Hmmm, I'd have to have it for breakfast. ha ha:p

Lorie ~ I printed out some of your crock pot recipes. Going to get that baby going today too! :D I am having a hard time finding the Ranch style beans though. I have all the ingredients for that vegetable soup. What the heck are Ranch style beans? Carole?

Well, better get going. DH took the kids swimming. If he comes back and I'm still here, I'll be in big trouble. lol ;)

Have a great day ladies!

Dallas :: Thanks!...Yes, you look totally fresh-faced & adorable!...I get all red & blotchy...So it seems there will have to be a cheese AND camera ban in Chicago. *lol*...DD did a fantastic job w/ the photos...I just ordered an Amphipod handheld from Running Warehouse. It also has a little pocket on it for storage (photo below). I will have it for next weekend's long run, so I'll let you know how it goes. *lol* about wanting to chuck it. I hear you. I'm not sure if I can get used to it, but I do think it will be more spine-friendly than the Camelbak.

Oh, and Wendy :: I just choked on some stinkin' wheat germ, so you're not alone!

Dallas...cool you got to hold the newborn. Mostly newborns scare me to death! Good workout planned today. Nice to make your MIL some lasagna..:)..Not sure what exactly happened to the weightlifter as I turned off the video quickly, but it looks like his shoulder came out of the socket...yuk! Yes, I do have some trail shoes. Nike's that I got cheap at Famous Footwear. So will your DH use Cathe's nutrition program too? I did see your photos. You look great! Ranch Style Beans are from Texas (I think), they are just spicy beans. The can in my grocery store is plain, just black with white writing that says "Ranch Style Beans", they are with all the other canned beans.

Karen...

on 2nd place in the 5K!! And so cool you got a door prize along with other stuff!! Enjoy the party later.

Christine...Yes, I am with you on wanting some fall temps as it has been way hot and sticky! Like I posted to Dallas, not sure exactly what happened to the weightlifter, but it looked like he pulled his shoulder out of the socket...YIKES! Not sure they would televise it. Enjoy your bike ride with your friend.

Wendy...you might want to check out the Nuun tablets that Dallas was talking about last week. They are electrolytes and they mix with water. Might help too with your cramping, here is the site: http://www.nuun.com/index.html Good job on your 9 mile run. Cool about DH wanting to run a 5K with you.

Cathy...I will have to check out the past cheese posts...:)...you can see my posts about the weightlifter to Christine or Dallas above. Good job getting in the 11 miles. You will have some tough runs, it is normal...:)..That looks like a good hand held thing for your bottle. My last one was a cheapy from Target, but it works well.

It was quite humid for the run. We went about 11.5. As I was running back I was thinking about taking a dip in the water. The next turn I saw my sister (she was ahead of me) stopped and taking off her Garmin watch to jump in the water. I followed suit and had a great refreshing dip before the last few tenths of the run!

Good Afternoon.

Just got up from a nap and although it wasn't a really long one (30 min tops), I'm feelin' a bit groggy right now so I'm sippin' some java to wake up before tackling the house work. Oh joy!

Carole: Thanks for the Radcliffe info. I wish I had caught the end of the marathon. I'm happy she finished. They showed the clip of her breaking down in tears and just giving up in Athens and it was so sad. I don't recall what the story behind that was. What happened there? Do you know? Anyway, I'm glad she finished this time and coming off an injury...OMG...she did AWESOME! They said she had just recently began road running with full weight on her foot not very long before this marathon. Kudos to her. She is amazing. I will check out those tablets for cramping. Thanks! :) I caught the end of a convo about some weight lifting injury at the olympics on the radio the other day but I have no idea what actually happened. They said it was nasty though...I am tempted to look it up but wonder if I actually find it, if I'll regret it...

Dallas: I've looked at foam rollers in Target but haven't purchased one yet. I honestly don't see myself using it enough to warrant the purchase. This 5k may be DH's first and last race with me. I will be surprised if he even keeps up running on any kind of regular basis. It will be fun to have him running with me that day though. :)

Cathy: Yes, very nice weather indeed. Would have been NICER had I not been sweating my arse off though! LOL I saw a camelback in Target. I was tempted...Right now I wear a belt that holds one regular sized water bottle. I am also considering the belt that holds several smaller bottles so that I can fill some with water and some with a sports/electrolyte beverage. Too many choices! What you ordered looks like it will be pretty comfy. Let us know how you like it.

Christine: That would be neat if you decided to come out to Vegas. I'll keep you posted on our trip. I give every single Olympiad HUGE kudos. The dedication to training that it must take to be able to qualify for the Olympics is unimaginable to me. I could never do it. I am sorry I missed the end of the marathon. Radcliffe was surely elated just to finished after what happened in Athens.

Okay, I think that catches me up for now...BBL!:)

Hey Ladies!

Wendy – good job with the 9 miler! :D:D:D I do know the feeling of sitting down and not wanting to get back up. LOL. I’m making a lasagna right now. So, I don’t have that option! :p I’m doing laundry, too. How fun that DH wants to run a 5k with you! My DH did that too – went out and ran our first half with no training and beat me by 5 minutes. Of course, he couldn’t walk the next day, but still!!!! Men, I hate them sometimes. I’m with you on the Olympians and the dedication. They are simply amazing. The announcers kept talking about Athens and how there is no way that Radcliffe would not finish because of it. I feel for her, though. It has to be tough to be among the top in the world and not medal TWICE!!!

Cathy – Good job with the 11 miles! Yep, some runs are just tough. And I’m totally with you on the anticipation of packages. I like heels, too, but like you, I want something comfy. If I can have both, I’ll pay a little more for them. I’ll let you know about these. I’ve heard great things about the J-41’s.

Dallas – I drag my feet on groceries too. Oh, the bottom of my feet hurt when I do impact – like hiking/trail running or step or something like that. They’re fine when I ride. Very odd. *shrugs* Nothing new with that. Boring and bland is boring and bland. I don’t blame you for escaping the binds every now and again and then dealing with the consequences. :p

Carole – Oh ouch! Re: Weight lifter. Poor guy! I would hope they don’t televise it. Sounds like a good run with a good dip towards the end. I’ll bet that felt wonderful!!!

We ended up doing a fairly fast 24 miles. That was fun! We’re on again next week. Her DH is thrilled that I’m riding with her, so he’ll volunteer to watch their toddler. We actually ride well together, and as we both have decent bike handling skills, we can ride side by side in the bike lane with no issues. We got to chat a lot. Her DH races, as I’ve said, and I mentioned that I might be interested. We’ll see where that goes. It would be fun to be competitive at something. I like to run, but I’ll never be fast. I can ride pretty fast. :D

Hey everyone!

We got back from vacation late last night. It was a really good one! But...when ya know it is time to come back, it is good to get home and get back in the swing of things :) I wish we would have had another week or so, though ;)

I haven't got caught up on all of this past week's threads. Will have to do that.

Cathy - I have been using a hand held water bottle. I have tried everything from the waist belts that hold 4-6 bottles (which I do like as well) to the one that holds the one bottle that lays horizontally and the one that lays diagonally. I did not like either of those at all! They bounced like crazy on me. The hand held one is by Nathan. It has a fabric holder that I slip my hand through. It has a zipper pouch that I put my key, ID, etc in. I really do like that one a lot! My friend that runs with me is now using that one and loves it, too. I guess a lot of people don't like them, though. But for me, it was my favorite.

Wendy - The only reason that I liked the hand held bottle better was that for me, the bottom of the bottle hit right above my pelvic bone and I had a very bad injury a few months ago that felt like that tendon was completely torn or raw (I can't explain it very well). I was wondering if the bottle on the left was the cause of that. After a couple of months of healing with the aid of a chiropractor....I tried the bottle again and it didn't happen again...so that probably wasn't the cause. It just hurt when the bottle hit that area. But the bottles can be positioned in other areas.

Carole - Wow! I'll bet that dip felt wonderful after the 11.5 mile run! Great job on the run! Humid weather and I do not get along well! It is so humid here, most of the time! When I was in Montana this past week, it felt sooo good! No humidity! Ahhh...heaven :)

Dallas - Good job on the EXT and GS C&T! Aww! that is so cool that you got to hold the baby!

Christine - enjoy the bike ride! The food sounds yummy! So does the cake!!!

Karen - Congrats on the 5K! That is wonderful!

This week, while away, I ran and didn't do any weights. But I had not planned on doing them anyway. I didn't get to do my scheduled long run. But I did an 8 miler, a 4 miler, a 5 and a 6 miler. My step daughter and her DH went with us. She ran with me on a couple of the runs. They were really good runs, except on the 6 miler (the last one of the week)...I was having bad stomach issues, so I struggled on the last of it and didn't know if I would make it back to the cabin. It didn't get better until last night. Okay...enough babbling from me.

Hey to everyone and I hope everyone had a good week!

Linda
