Insomniac cheetah checkin' in here already...I've been up since 2:30--ack! I'm sure I'll pay for this later. But I might as well take advantage and get a workout in *before* school. (Have to because I have two happy hours AFTER school today, but most likely, I'll just stop by one of 'em.)

OK, let me catch up with yesterday's posts...

Sunny :: congrats on the PT job!! :) Fantastic! And good luck with the YMCA fitness director position. That sounds like a plum spot. You have a lot cookin’ over there, don’t you? Good for you. It’s always good to have choices!

Wendy :: no apologies necessary for your posting order. I don’t really pay attention to that kind of thing. :) And I definitely didn’t think you went off on a depressing tangent…please do share when you feel like it. I leave on Christmas Day. BTW, my social life is not really all that boomin’. *lol* I think you should absolutely get your certification – it sounds PERFECT for you. Seriously. DO IT. Great job on the TM yesterday!

Marcia :: sorry your class was cancelled, but I’m sure you enjoyed an early start to your break! Oh no—drama! I hate that, too. What kind of shenanigans go on in your office, I wonder? I love the calendar, too.

Laura :: I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. It doesn’t sound corny at all to say that she was with you for your children’s births. I believe they can still reach out to us. It doesn’t happen that often, but there have been times when something too unexplainable to be coincidence happens to me, and I know it is a little “hello” from beyond the grave. Thanks – I do feel better. At this point, sniffly, headachy, and still fatigued, but I can function.

Christine :: Glad you’re back and that you enjoyed yourself in Philly. We missed you! No problem at all – I know your visit was short, and this time of year is so crazy, anyway. I’m not sure I would’ve had room in my schedule either between work, social functions, and being under the weather. I’ll be skiing in Breckenridge, CO. So where did you shop out here—KOP?

Carole :: Re: the Retin-A Micro helping...Not so much. As a matter of fact, I had my dermo appt. yesterday afternoon, and we have decided to do Accutane. You’re right…it’s probably stress and a hectic schedule that made me a little run down. I think I can manage a workout today and tomorrow, though, so at least I won’t feel the week’s an entire wash. I am going to check into the colloidal silver next time I stop in a health food store. I wrote down the name of that stuff and have it tacked to my board here. Love the comment from your neighbor! It does feel good to get those kind of props. That’s funny—I bought a TM years ago for those inclement weather days, but I still would rather run in the rain/snow!

Jess :: I can’t wait til your girls are well again and none of your posts involve the mention of vomit ;-) ha ha. Hopefully they are on the mend now, so you can all enjoy your Christmas (and stop having to spend money on co-pays and scrips! YOWZAS!)

Laurie :: yes, wrangey is right! My colleagues are impressed, though, b/c I have invented a new holiday to contain the kiddies (Seinfeld fans will appreciate this one): TESTIVUS! I gave three assessments this week to keep those buggers on their toes. It’s brilliant, if I may say so myself. ;-) *lol* I hear you on the closing in part! Way to squeeze in a workout into your busy day!

Susan :: hope you enjoyed the party in your oldest daughter’s class. No apologies for not having much time to post. I think it’s understood we do personals when we can. :)

Elaine :: hope you have a great 8-10 miler today! I do always think of that when you mention your brother – how young he was. It does, I think, make an already painful loss even more so when it seems a light is extinguished too soon. There is not much that can be said to comfort, is there? So simply: more (((HUGS))) comin’ atcha.

Colleen :: I loved the visual of the kids reading & snacking while the snow was gently falling outside. Sounds so cozy! I’ve run in the snow a few times, too – it can be treacherous for a klutz like me – but I know what you mean…I did think it was fun. Lucky you having a white Christmas!

Have a great Friday, everyone! I'll try to stop in again later.
Cathy :)

All the normal East Coast cheetahs must still be snug in their beds...lol

Just back to say I finished KPC cardio only. It'd be nice to get myself into a groove where I do my workouts in wee hours of the morning and maybe reserve my outdoor runs for the weekend only...Hmm, that's a thought.

Off to shower and get in to work. Hope all the cheetahs squeeze everything into your day that you need to! BBL

-Cathy :)

Good morning Cheetahs!:)

Cathy: Sorry about your insomnia. I've had problems with insomnia myself and I know how UN-fun it can be. :-( Glad you got your work out in though. I'll bet you never thought something POSITIVE would come out of getting out of bed at 2:30am, huh? LOL I sure do hope you have no school work to do when you get home though because you'll surely pass out cold w/in seconds of getting in the door!:+ Thanks for the vote of confidence on the cert. I am going to be such a nervous nelly about it.

Well, I have the leg blast premix from B&G and a short Cathe cardio on tap for today. I am considering trying to pull off half of IMAX2 after doing B&G but I don't know if my legs can handle it!? }( :7

I don't have to be in work until 9 today so I'll be back in a bit!:)

*KNOCK KNOCK BANG KICK* (on thread's door)

WAKE UP CHEETAHS! It's after 7am and no one else is around!? Okay, the west coast girls I'll let slide because of the time change but the rest of y'all should have reported for duty already!!!:p

cathy- sounds like you have the same problem I had wednesday morning. I woke up at 3 am and couldnt go back to sleep. I was feeling it around 2pm and had to get some caffeine to keep me through the work day.

marcia- what type of classes are you going to teach? I only teach bootcamp and you dont really do a set routine . But I would love to share some of the stuff I do in class.

thanks everyone for your wonderful thoughts on losing my sister. It is hard especially since we lost her a few days before christmas and had to bury her on christmas eve. My kids have helped make the holiday worth while again and feeling like she is still surrounding us helps also. thanks again !!

today is a rest day for me and believe me ,my legs need it. they're not sore just can tell I worked them alot this week, more fatigued than anything. I am going to run tomorrow and maybe sunday morning before going to my moms.

talk with you all later!!

Hey Laura-My goodness...burying her on Christmas Eve?? They wouldn't let your family wait until after the holiday? Actually, maybe your family preferred to get it over with...I could understand that too.

Marcia-What fitness organization did you certify with to teach step? I want to get certified. I am trying to decide between group fitness and PT though. They both scare the bejeebers outta me for different reasons. I also have no clue with organization to go with!

Hey Cheetahs! I am so lost reading these posts today. I will go back and read the pas t few days in a minute. I have been so busy this week but I have been getting in my w/outs! It's been all circuits or just cardio because I am needing that extra time in the day so I am multitasking with the circuits right? Anyway just wanted to say Merry X-mas to all and Happy Holidays! We are leaving for Indiana at 6:30 tomorrow. I'll try to come back for personals after I get DS off to the bus stop!
LD

LD, I can understand doing lots of circuits this time of year. They combine everything into one neat little pkg..PLUS if you do cardio only in between then you are getting LOTS of cardio and we know how important THAT is to beat the bulge this time of year!:7 Have a fabulous vacation...when will you be back?

A woman at my gym is leaving for Ireland the day after Christmas! Can you imagine!?! Her mom and other family apparently live over there. So she not only had the Holiday stuff to deal with but also has to make sure her family is prepared and packed for a trip out of the country!!!! INSANE!

Good morning everyone:

Isn't it funny how when you can sleep in and you can't seem to get past 7am. It's 6:20am here in Minnesota and I could've slept in, NOOOOO I'm and wondering what to do for a workout today. :p

Anyway - Good morning to all.

Cathy - I've never had much for insomnia, but my heart goes out to you because I can't imagine what it does to you by the end of the day. Are you a teacher?

Laura - I teach just a regular step class and I and another instructor were thinking about doing a circuit type workout during the Christmas break for a change and to see what people think. Is your bootcamp class like Cathe's Bootcamp. ;-)

Wendy - I actually not certified. I teach for the Community Education from my hometown school. But, I've been doing it for 14 years I with a little time off when I had DS. I absolutely love it and have also thought of getting certified so I could do it full time and get out of the situation I'm in at work now. But, just don't know?!?!?!

Today it is really foggy out and freezing drizzles and snow on the way. YUCK! We are hoping to take DS to Night of the Museum this afternoon. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for a work out. Probably get on the elliptical since I haven't had a chance to run and the weather doesn't sound like I would chance it running on possible freezing rain. x(

I'll be back later - have a great morning everyone.

Marcia.

Hey Marcia. Thanks for responding. What you do would be very cool too. I'd have a job doing what I love either way-certified or not!:) I know what you mean about not sleeping in when you can! That happens to me every day! LOL I am almost always up way earlier than I need to be. I value my "alone time" though so that is what drives me to get up when I do. It's more important to me than sleep at this point!:7

Well, I hafta go retrieve Joey now...I'll be back later!

Hi Cheetahs::

There has been no time to post as of late! I'm supposed to be on a run right now, but it is rainning steadily and my running friends cancelled.

I'm trying to decide whether to run out in the rain anyway, or get on the TM. If it will just let up a bit, I'll head outside.

Some non-traditional cards are being sent out; but they will arrive between holidays.

Yesterday I celebrated a pleasant birthday with my DH and kids. DH sent me roses and kids bought me a Makenzie Childs platter in the black and white check that I adore! They were so excited for me to open it!

How is everyone doing with last minute holiday preparations? We made Pizelles yesterday. Today the kids and I have lunch with the Abuelos (grandparents) and perhaps we will make one kind of cookie this afternoon. We aren't sure yet.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, Judy - sounds like it was a nice day.

Good luck on what you decide about a run, I hear you on the weather, crazy stuff!

Marcia.

Happy Friday Ladies!

Frantic Cheetah here. Got the stocking stuffers done yesterday! So that’s good. Just need to stop at See’s Candies and get some chocolate Santas and things. I think I get off early today, so I’m going to hit the mall and hope to get a bunch of stuff knocked out. This morning I figured I’d keep up with the Body Pump theme and do Power Hour and part of the cardio only of LIC. My knees are starting to remind me of their age, so I figured I’d add some low impact two or three days a week.

Cathy – so sorry you couldn’t sleep! Good for you for getting in a workout, though! Way to go! Two Happy Hours? Miss Popular –eh? :+ That’s right, I did know you were going to Breckenridge. We ended up going to Exton for shopping. My sis also works at Pottery Barn in West Chester, so we shopped there and Williams Sonoma (love that store!).

Wendy – have fun with the Leg Blast Premix – that’s a killer! Let us know if you managed Imax 2 as well! You make me laugh! That lady going to Ireland - wow! And she’s working on top of it? Does she still have hair or did she pull it all out?

Laura – enjoy your rest day! This time of the year must be tough for you! Glad your kids help make Christmas Christmas again – aren’t kids wonderful?

LD – I know what you mean – I’m STILL catching up with posts from when I was gone! Have fun in Indiana!! Circuits are a nice way to mix things up and shock the body. I usually do 3 weeks of heavy weights followed by a week of circuits and functional fitness.

Marcia – Oh yeah, sleeping in for me is anything past 4:30AM. I’m up early to get in a good workout to help counteract my horrible eating this past week. Just one day of eating well again has really helped, which is amazing.

Judy – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I didn’t realize it was your birthday! My daughter’s is the 28th – so another one close to Christmas. Sounds like it was really nice.

I’m cheating this year and BUYING cookies. I have enough to do! And I hate our oven. Our Christmas Eve party will be Italian – I love Italian as it’s easy to get things that are vegetarian. I’m making a tomato bisque and I found a delightful recipe for a firey cranberry salsa. I’m excited to make that. Everyone is bringing appetizers, and we’re having the main meal catered in from Maggiano’s, so that should be easy. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I love lists – they help me get organized.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...sorry about the insomnia...I hate that. I do know some that have had luck with Accutane. I feel fortunate that Retin A has worked so long for me. I thought I was getting a cold monday so I did start the Colloidal silver and so far, so good. Good job with KPC cardio...:) and enjoy your day and Happy hour...

Wendy..tough workout planned today. Have fun...I don't think you will have any problem getting certified!

Laura...enjoy your well deserved rest day.

LD...yes, this is an awfully busy time. Good job getting in some circuits. Have a great time in Indiana.

Marcia...have a nice Elliptical workout and avoid the nasty weather.

Judy...http://bestsmileys.com/birthday1/25.gif[/img] I hope it was a great one! I got my shopping done and will bake some cookies sunday. I am also looking for some vegetarian enchilada recipes for X-Mas eve. I found a good chipotle one...:)

Christine...Power Hour is so fun and I'd agree with some knee issues low impact is the way to go...:)..We do Mexican for X-mas Eve. But Italian sounds delicious.

I am doing MM Back & Shoulders and a 4 mile run in the rain. It sounds light right now.

Have a great day http://smilies.sofrayt.com/hld/dance11.gif[/img]

some more personals

Laurie...I think I view X-mas closing in the same way you do..:) I always hope for snow this time of year but I don't think we will get it. Its about 32 now but the rain seems light and I think the clouds are moving out.

Christine...it has been kinda nasty weather here since you were gone. A real brisk 27 degree day and then rain...but darn, no snow...

Susan...you are welcome...:)..don't worry about being busy. I know we all have those days now!!

Elaine...you make me miss the beach...hope you had a nice walk with the kids. I think the first time with B&G is the worst for DOMS so next week for you might be good...:)

Wendy...thank you for the compliment yesterday. I do feel dedicated and on occasion completely crazy!!...:)..Good job on getting close to the 6 mile mark...I know you will get there and even go further in 2007.

Colleen..I agree, running in the snow without the ice underneath is way cool. I have done it a few times. So very peaceful.

G'morning Cheetahs! I got up & did DM in full this morning. I just love that workout! I knew I had a super busy day planned & had to get in a full workout early or else!

It's my dd, Hannah Jayne's 8th bday today!! (and happy belated to Judy!!) I can't believe I have an EIGHT year old! Where has the time gone??? She's so grown up & has such a great sense of humor. I just love her to pieces. We're having a sleepover party tonight w/ 4 of her best friends. She is very excited about it. 2 of the other girls were sick earlier this week too, so maybe they won't be up for staying up too late, right?? }( We're getting pizza, and she requested that I make Chex Mix for snacking & probably popcorn for watching movies. She just wanted cookies instead of cake which is fine w/ me! But I'm going to make a pumpkin pie to surprise her, it's her absolute favorite! So.... I have lots to do today!!

Plus Kiersten has her appt at the ENT specialist for her ears at 12:45. Thankfully Greg is off work early on Fridays so he'll be here w/ Allison so she can get in her nap. Then he'll meet my Mom halfway w/ Allison & Kiersten where they will go to have their own special sleepover w/ Grandma. We'll be heading there tomorrow anyway for the holiday & my Mom is so excited to have her grandkids to spoil!! ;-) I think Kiersten will be ok to go, she's still not feeling well but she'll either be not feeling well here or there!! She'll probably get more rest there anyway!

OK, I've got to get going. I've made my list & am checking it twice. So much to do & so little time. This week I feel like I've gotten nothing done, I'm so thankful that I was ahead of the game & had all of my shopping & wrapping done!!

Have a great day & I'll check in later!!

marcia- my bootcamp class is similiar to cathe's bootcamp. we usually do longer cardio's though then hit upper or lower body. my cardios range anywhere between 3minutes-15minutes depending on what I want to do that day. around holiday time I usually will go for the longer cardios to burn extra calories since we tend to pig out at that time. then I will hit the tri's,bi's etc... and then back to anothe cardio, usually end with abs then stretch. last wednesday mornings class we ran the stairs for 8 1/2minutes straight, they where sweating big time. this wednesday, i did alot of leg exercises mixed in with the cardio as well. walking lunges, wall sits, hamstring ,firewalkers,etc... my sister in law said to me are you wanting to buy a new pair of jeans. I just laughed.

carole-have fun running in the rain, I did yesterday!

christine- I am not sure if we could have chose another day to bury my sister or not. I was 15 yrs old back then and she was the first person in my life that I loved and lost to a tragedy like that. I had lost grandparents but I wasnt close to them. my sisters death really changed how I look at life and how I think about death. I use to worry every time my kids would go with someone , what if they get in a car accident, or fall into a pool et... use to drive me nuts. I finally told myself that I cant worry about everything because I have no control over things and also I would make myself insane worrying like that. I am much better about it but sometimes catch myself thinking that way on occasion. I just tell myself that god could have took them at birth and he chose to let me keep them. and like I said before, I feel like my sister is watching over them.

well got most of my wrapping done, just a few more things and that is it! now to decide what to take to my moms on sunday for dinner.

talk with you all later!

Wow! That was a fun little workout! Power Hour is different than I remember (haven’t done it for a while), and I really enjoyed it. Then I did the cardio only from LIC with no blasts, and that was fun. It was a total of 93 minutes and a nice mish mosh. I’m feeling good right now, and have no aching knees which is good!

Carole – when I was growing up, we always had shrimp, but seafood only at a party doesn’t seem to work (not filling enough). So, we branched out for the party and added pasta. Now it’s mainly Italian, but I always served chilled shrimp as well. I guess both do well vegetarian, though! Today is clear here, but still cold! We don’t go that low typically, but we’re getting close – in the mid thirties in the early am!

Jess – what a wonderful tradition – a sleep over at Grandma’s! I love it! Hope Kiersten feels better and enjoys the sleep over!

Laura – I agree that we don’t always have control over things, and cannot worry about each and every little thing. It’s tough though, especially with our kids. When I was a single mom, I would obsess about something happening to me and Anna being alone as no one would be there to help her. Fortunately that never happened, but it did scare me, especially as I liked mountain biking and hiking. {{{HUGS}}} I’m thinking of you.

Well, I did get some wrapping in (some of the stocking stuffers), so I’m feeling like I’m getting somewhere. I’m really hoping we get off work early today, so I can hit the mall. I’m going to put a list together of exactly what stores and items I need and stick to it. That way I won’t wander aimlessly (I’m good at that as well!). I’d love to get finished today and have tomorrow to wrap and maybe make some cookies. Oddly enough, as frantic as I am, I love this time of the year!

Afternoon Cheetahs!:D

Christine: The gal who is going to Ireland is a SAHM who is a member at the gym, not a co-worker. LOL I hope you enjoyed your work out. I'll be doing mine soon and I'm nervous!:p

Carole: You are totally welcome for the compliment! I feel crazy at times myself...like today....WHY would anyone in thier right mind do the work out combo that I am about to attempt!?!? }(

Jess: Wow, your girls have an exciting night ahead of them! Tell Hannah happy birthday from me and tell Allison and Kiersten to have a blast with grandma!:D

Okay, well I'm off to do what will probably be one of the most "painful" work outs of my life!}( I'll be back to tell y'all about it if I survive it!:p

Jess - I'm so sorry, I didn't even catch that it's Hannah's Birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!!!! My Anna's birthday is next week. How do you deal with Christmas and Birthday without her feeling slighted?
