Cathlete
Good morning, lovely cheetah lasses! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-038.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-038.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-038.gif

Wendi :: http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sign/sign0016.gif to our check-in & congrats on your weight loss!! I think it was Shelly who said this not long ago, and I completely agree: running is the best fat burner out there!! Sorry about your injury. Yeowch! As Carole suggested, I follow the 10% rule. It’s a conservative approach to stay injury-free…So, what is it that you do for a living? At first, I thought you must do something on a farm. But then when I read about manhandling beasties, I decided you must be a middle school teacher, too! Ha ;)

Wendy :: As for weekend plans, I am going to a BBQ http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/bbq.gif at my sister’s today. Tomorrow I will probably spend most of the day working…Sorry about the dog pooing in Joey’s room...Congrats on the new wheels!!

Laurie :: http://ephatch.com/forum/images/smilies/ohsnap1.gif ((((HUGS)))) Sorry to hear things went so terribly wrong at the new clinic ~ what a nightmare! ~ but glad to hear you’ve landed on your feet. Now you just need something to calm your nerves. A run can do wonders!! Kickboxing, too. http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/ihe_boxing.gif Maybe something pampering is in order as well -- a massage or facial perhaps? *sending tranquil Zen vibes your way*

Judy :: I agree – it does take about a month to settle in. As much as I love my job, I do love the weekends and being able to do longer workouts with no rush and no need to wait for sunrise or beat sundown… Great job with your run…Bet getting the kitties to the vet was a workout, too!…Good luck to DD and DS in their respective competitions this weekend!!

Lorie :: Glad you've joined us!! I think we’ve responded to several of the same school-related posts on the OD, and I always appreciate your grounded comments and the insight you bring from the school psychologist’s POV…Wow, you go back early in Georgia! We started the day after Labor Day up here (NJ).

Carole :: Does either of these qualify as a whiny p. pants? http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sad/sad0139.gif http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/ak.gif

Jackie :: enjoy your massage (ahhhh! I need one soon!) and the air show.

Amy :: They do wear us out, don’t they? :D But we love it. You have the little ones, but middle schoolers can be needy, too. I sometimes just laugh as you see all kinds of bizarre things in M.S.

Shelly :: I never thought I’d read about you cursing out a hill. I thought you relished those things! *lol* Hope you had a great run!…Enjoy delving into those ACSM materials ~ how exciting to dive right into the new venture!!…Every once in awhile, I do that with a marathon “nap” – not on purpose – but I just roll with it now and then. I did feel fully recharged on Friday. BTW, I’ve already got over 700 posts and that’s with a new user name!!! What does that tell ya? *cues up Styx: “Too Much Time on My Hands*

Christine :: thinking of you and hoping DH has been released and all is well.

OK, I think I'm caught up with personals...Hi Kristi, Susan, and anyone else dropping in!

I wound up going out with some colleagues after work yesterday and did not get home until late. So once again, bad cheetah missed her workout. Today will be Basic Step & a run.

Have a great day, everyone!

Waves good morning to Cheetah-land!

I'm sipping a cup of coffee here, trying to wake up and go for a long walk. I don't think my hips would appreciate running 3 days in a row. They were talking to me a bit last night LOL. I'll probably go for about 4 miles or so or 45-50 minutes. My abs, back and ribs are a bit sore from work yesterday, too. But I have to do something to work off last night's feast as we went out for a little bday dinner for one of the clients.

Cathy - Ooh, I'm glad my beasties have four legs, not two...much easier to deal with! Yeah, I forgot to mention I'm a horse trainer/barn manager for a show/sale barn specializing in hunters and jumpers. So my lil' injury has definitely effected my productivity. Enjoy your workout today and BBQ!

Shelly - Yeah, one of the young horses deposited me on the ground on Sunday which started it. Then, on Tuesday, while bridling another youngster for some potential buyers, that's when I heard the pop/crack. I kept my mouth shut and didn't let on that I was hurt until after I got off the horse...had to make sure they saw him be wonderful before they tried him :7. Wow, quite the workout-day for you yesterday! Enjoy your new ACSM "hobby"! You sound very excited.

Judy - Great run! I hope the kitty field trip wasn't too eventful!

Lorie - You're starting to make me want to get a TM with all your talk of iTreads. Too bad that just will never be in my budget.

Laurie - KM, light day?!?! You're nuts, LOL. It probably was a great way to get rid of all that stress you've been carrying this week.

Wendy - Hmmm, new truck, have fun with it! Isn't it nice when our pets leave us such thoughtful gifts? Did you end up going out last night?

Well, I need to go undo some of last night's damage. BBL.

http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/vishenka_34.gif Good Morning Ladies.http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/vishenka_34.gif

How's my favorite group of runners doing this morning?

Shelly: You are sweet. (((hugs))) Now you have the 10 miles in my head though so I'm gonna HAVE TO go for it. AAAHHH! LOLOL

Cathy: Enjoy the barbie today. I am jealous. I was only to 2 BBQ's this summer. I LOVE THEM! I guess it's a GOOD thing for the waistline though so I should shut up!:p I'm dyin' to hear what you think of basic step. Hurry up and do it girl!:)

Wendi: So what is it that you do? You work for a horse breeder perhaps? I read your post about how you hurt yourself and you said you were prepping a horse to shown for a possible sale so that's what I thought of. I am STILL mad about the dog poop cause I am STILL trying to get the stain out! GRRRRR! DH must be excited about his new truck because he took it to work this morning. It's the 3rd vehicle so it's not going to be used for daily commuting but I guess he couldn't resist today! :7

That's all for now.

BBL!

Greetings Cheetahs

I am up with a great cup of coffee watching the sunrise and reading the forums. Today is a rest day.I may golf or get in 30" of yoga though.

The Kitties did well at their annual check ups. The vet called my Apollo a Linebacker! He is BIG, but not at all fat. They are indoor/outdoor cats, and they are intense hunters. Apparently they are very strong from their lifestyle. ( Just like our Cheetah group!)

Wendi- Your job sure has some hazards! . Walking is a great cross training activity to running IMO. In the summer, I do most of my walking on a hilly golf course. I try to keep some walking in my rotations periodically.

Cathy- BBQ's are fun in September when the weather is not as hot and the trees are beginning to turn great colors. Enjoy today! I will be out side for most of the weekend. We have to enjoy these weekends of mild weather in the northeast!

Shelly- I spent a little time on the ASCM website last night. Hmmmm. It doesn't appear that a previous back ground in Respiratory Care, BS is a health related profession they know about.

Lorie- What level of school are you working at?

Laurie- KM is getting easy for you? I find that the first 4 combinations are really a thorough warm up to the hi intensity section. Perhaps I will do it on Monday. Mondays are my new KB days.

Wendy- congrats on the new vehicle! Did you make it to your friends place last night? DH and I stayed in and he was able to answer call from home (he got lucky with no emergencies). I was wishing for a glass of wine, but since he couldn't drink, I didn't either.

Judy "Likes2bfit"

Good Morning Judy.

Enjoy your rest day. Glad you got to spend the evening with your hubby. No, I didn't make it out last night. I was tired. Jeesh, sometimes I act like I'm twice my age!:p

Hi ladies!

Well, I think I am taking an unplanned rest day today *maybe*. I have always had a "noisy" left hip but when I was stretching yesterday, I did something that made it hurt and it is still sore. Also, I want to rest my foot which I have decided is most likely PF. I bought arch supports yesterday and am doing a lot of stretching and massaging with a baseball (I didn't have any golf balls).

Wendy-for now, I do most of my running on the treadmill because the temperatures have been so brutal (high 90's). Also, since I work out at around 5 AM, I haven't been wanting to run in the dark. I used to go running with one of my pups every morning but now that I am faster and running farther, I don't think he could keep up and I really wouldn't want to make him run that much. I used to run maybe 5 miles a day but am doing more like 7 or 8 in almost the same amount of time.

Wendi-maybe you can find a TM from one of the used sports equipment stores? Or maybe on Craigslist or Ebay? I love, love, love my TM!!!

Cathy-I am in one middle school (LOVE my middle school kids!!!) and two high schools. I have to say, I laugh at work every day. The kiddies are so fun. There's just something about that age!!!

Judy-glad to hear the kitties did well. Looks like you and I will be taking a rest day together.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday morning. I will be taking my foster pup, Jason, to adoptions today. I so hope he finds a wonderful family!!!

Hi Lorie.

I hope Jason finds a good home!http://www.infohub.com/forums/images/smilies/dog.gif

So you run 7-8 miles almost daily, huh? WOW! That's awesome. I read you have been running since you were 15 though. That's a long time so it's no wonder you can do that I suppose. :)

I have only been running for about 1.5 years. I've been exercising consistantly for about 5 years though. Running was tough to get into despite the level of cardio I was used to. I wondered if I would succeed but I didn't give up and here I am training for a HALF! WOOH!:)

Have a great day!

Wendy-Before I started doing HIIT, I was running about four days a week usually 7-8 miles with one slightly longer run (8-9 miles). Now that I do HIIT, those runs are usually only 4.5 miles total. I try to do HIIT at least twice a week, then two or three more endurance runs. I really need to start cross-training more and doing other things (like step, kickbox, elliptical). On my HIIT days, I do weights as well as two other days during the week.

I really think it's the HIIT that has made me faster.

You will love doing the half-marathon. It is a very manageable distance (unlike the marathon). IMO, the training does not disrupt your life as much as it does training for a full.

I'm just back for a quick check in before I head into work. The walk actually turned out to be a pretty good w/o. I ended up burning almost the same amount of calories as my run yesterday (same route). Although, I confess that I did run the downhill slopes to get my HR back up. There are definitely more "ups" (long but not too steep) than "downs" (short and steep), though.

Wendy - We only have one actual "baby" (a 2 year old pony) although we refer to the youngsters (anything under 5) as "babies". I'm glad that we don't breed...a LOT of work for very little profit, even though babies are adorable. We usually snatch up 3 and 4 year olds that have been sat on but little else. My boss doesn't want to risk me (can't afford to, either) getting hurt getting on one for the first time. Right now, though, we have a bunch of retrains in the barn. As in, some other "professional" really #%&*(%^ them up and it's our job to undo the damage...always FUN! Can you hear the sarcasm? BTW, have you ever tried, don't laugh at the name, "Gonzo" for pet stains? I have no idea where my mother got it from but, boy does it work! I have ivory area rugs and, of course, my dear cat Nicholas (my avatar)always aims for those (not the wood floors) when his breakfast doesn't agree with him. There isn't a stain on them...even from when I got back from vacay and found a couple day old pile sitting there...eewww!

Judy - What a lovely way to start your day! Golf would be perfect on a day like we're having here in NY. I'm glad the kitties weren't too unmanageable.

Lorie - Yeah, an easy day might be a good idea. You are such an enabler, you know that right? The only other problem would be where to put it. My house is pretty teeny...you should see the morning ritual of moving all of the living room furniture so I can do my Cathe's! I use that as an extra warm up, lol.

Well, I really need to get cracking...I'm a bit late as it is. See you all later!

*peeking in* Hiya, Cheetahs!! I've been busy, but haven't forgotten you! I have posted some in the OD, but I feel bad posting here when I just haven't had time to respond to everyone! I'm on Phase 2 now of the X and loving it even more this round. I'm sure you'll get sick of hearing me chatter on about it!!! I'm still running about 2X a week, sometimes 3. This week, just twice as I'm fighting off a bad sinus infection. Yuck!! :-( 'Tis that time of year- harvest time in IL! Tons of allergies!

Kiddos are doing well in school. It is starting to get busier as they are doing Girl Scouts, Hannah will be starting Taekwondo, and Kiersten starting gymnastics. Thankfully they're doing it w/ their best friends (who are sisters) so we will be carpooling with them!

I'm looking for something more to do part time during the day. Allison's in pre-K 3 mornings a week & we really could use the extra money. So... my internet time has been more limited.

Welcome to the new cheetahs!! A little about me- I'm Jess, mom of 3 girls, and started running a good 3 yrs ago now. I've done one full marathon, 2 half marathons, and lots of other races (10 mile, 12K, 5 mile, 5K, etc). I pretty much took the last year off from races after a bad IT band injury from my marathon (a year ago now!!). I have a great group of ladies to run with at 4:45AM Tues & Thurs! ;-) We typically just run between 4-6 miles. I really don't want to reinjure myself. I'm doing my 2nd round of P90X now and loving it!

Have a great Saturday!!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I think the 2nd smiley is close to the WPP! Enjoy basic step and your run today.

Wendy..sorry about the dog mess yesterday. These things can irritate your mood. So what kind of things will you be using the new truck for? hey, I already sleep with earplugs, but to be honest I have gotten even with my DH a few times with that particular smiley issue, I just use a different technique...:)

Wendi...wow, 8 weeks before you can lift again! The only times I have hurt my ribs is falling during trail runs, it is never to severe and goes away in about a week. Your job sounds very interesting. I have always though horses were beautiful animals, but I have never ridden one in my life! I hope your hips feel a bit better after your walk today.

Lorie...I forgot to mention that icing your foot 3-4 times a day for about 15-20 min will help the PF too. Sorry about the hip, I think a rest day will help..:)

Jess...nice to see you again! Sorry about the sinus infection...good luck finding some part time work.

Christine...how is DH doing?

Jackie...hope you had a nice massage. Have fun too at the Blue Angels show.

Amy...Bodymax is one of 3 workouts on 1 DVD, a great buy...:)

Shelly...you are sweet...:)...How was the hilly run yesterday? I just love the upper body work in Bodymax, you should give it a whirl, it is good in a time crunch.

Judy..good job on the 8 mile run in 79:33. The Chi running and metronome has been helping get my runs under 10 min paces too.

Laurie...I went to the LA area to visit my FIL and a GTG with some of my HS friends. We had a blast and I am posting a picture of us for you:

http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL752/3147882/17860743/279144790.jpg

I am doing KPC today, and some more decluttering. MY DH FINALLY got up some of the floor and laid some of the laminate down so we could see how it'll look. It is going to be nice!!

Have a great day...:)

Back from my workout…

Did Basic Step and followed that with a strong 3 mile run. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Others/others-283.gif Felt great to be out there!!! The humidity’s up again, but it’s overcast and started lightly drizzling toward the end.

Wendi :: Glad you enjoyed your walk…*lol* about Nicholas “aiming” for your ivory rugs. Cat vomit (with hairballs) has to be the worst. I don’t miss that. Anyway, I can see with your style of humor, you’ll fit right in here!!

Wendy :: I enjoyed Basic Step A LOT! I really should have started with this DVD a long time ago! The Charleston, cha-cha, and rocking horse were the new moves to learn, and they were easy. Where I really get fouled up is in the more complex workouts when she starts to turn away from the step. Now, the around-the-worlds I did finally learn from LIC, I think it was, but the other turns still get me and I need practice with those.

Judy :: *lol* about Apollo the Linebacker…enjoy golf or yoga!

Lorie :: ITA ‘bout middle schoolers. Some people think it must be the worst age to work with, but I truly enjoy it…Good luck finding a good home for Jason!...Hope the massaging and inserts nip the problem for you.

Carole :: OK, I lost it when I read about you getting even with DH!…There’s our Carole with that gorgeous smile! Thanks for sharing the pic…Have fun with KPC! Glad to hear the laminate floorwork has begun!! I just love the way that looks.

Jess :: sorry ‘bout the allergies…take care!

Cathy...sounds like you had an awesome run! We might get rain tonight but the cooler temps have been wonderful...Well DH started it with pulling up the blankets!! I have no choice but to get even...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/yes%20yes%20yes.gif[/img]...thanks for the nice compliment... http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/smile1.gif[/img]

Cathy: Turns can be tricky. It takes practice. Glad you enjoyed BS and good job on gettin' the run in as well! So when are you off to the BBQ?

I just finished up a snack so now I think I'm gonna throw some clothes on and go out for a bit with Joey. It's going to be a long saturday! My DH, mom and BF are all busy so I need to get out for a bit as I am starting to get the stir-crazies knowing I am not doing anything today...

I'll be back later after my work out!:)

Carole :: yes, I hit my zone and kept a decent pace...I love when it just gels effortlessly like that...Did I tell you I tooted ever-so-subtly one day at the chiro's during an adjustment?? I was so embarrassed http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/ashamed/ashamed0002.gif but played it off. I don't think she heard it b/c we were talking. *lol* http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/happy/happy0053.gif ...Are you still running with the metronome?

Wendy :: BS makes me feel much more encouraged that I *CAN* learn this stuff. Slowly but surely. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/happy/happy0122.gif ...I am leaving about 12:30ish. It takes about an hour. I love days when there is nothing on the agenda!!

Good Morning Cheetahs –

DH is home and is doing well, if a little tired. Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers! You ladies are fabulous! This morning is a 9 mile run *shakes in shoes*. I’ve plotted my course, and I’m ready to go, sort of. It’s over case – I’m hoping that it doesn’t rain – or if it does rain, it does not get windy! These past few days have played havoc with my eating. I still stepped on the scale on Friday and had lost 1 pound from the previous Friday, and ½ and inch off my hips, waist, bust and underbust, so I’m happy about that. But the run should be interesting. :p

Cathy – sometimes interaction with friends is as important health-wise as exercise. Sounds like you had a good time. Enjoy Basic Step and a run!

Wendi – Welcome to the check in! Enjoy your walk! Yes, I can’t run more than 2 days in a row – and those have to be shorter runs. Super Carole can run more, but, she’s SuperWoman and we all realize we’re not like her. :p Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Wendy – I’m with you. I have 9 miles today, not 10, but that’s next weekend. If I can do it you can do it!

Judy – Glad to hear your kitties are healthy! I laughed about Apollo. I had a cat like that. He was a lover, but could hunt with the best of them. Enjoy golf and/or yoga! I’ll be tacking on about 20-30 min of yoga after my run. The best stretch I’ve doung.

Lorie – Welcome to the check in! I hope Jason finds a home today! He’s such a cutie! I so wish I could take him, but DH would murder me.

Jess – you were missed!! Glad you’re enjoying the X!!

Carole – great photo! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy KPC and laying your floor! That’s so fun!

Have a great day everyone! I’ll check in after my run to let you know if I survived.

Good morning cheetahs! My goodness it's busy here for a Saturday morning:) We're having a lovely rain here this morning... very sorely needed too.

Cathy- I'm glad to hear you went out last night, you needed the mental ROR more than a workout. But you've had a great workout today. Good job on the run!! Hey, since you like Basic Step maybe you can graduate now to Cathe's other step dvds... I remember you claiming to be choreographically challenged.

Wendi- Wow, I hope you got a sale out of that horse you got injured with!!! I'd say in your profession injury risk is a constant concern. A walk sounds like to good idea for today! You may want to try out working out on an elliptical if you have access to one.
If you dont use the arm levers it won't aggravate your injury. Also ellipticals will give you a workout very close to running without the impact. ACSM is the American College of Sports Medicine. I've been a critical care RN for 26 yrs and am getting pretty burned out. I'll be going for a health fitness instructor cert and am hoping for a career change sometime next year.

Wendy- With 3 dogs and 2 cats I'm an expert at pet stains I'm afraid!
Actually, out of all the products out there I've found what works the best, hands down, is a steam cleaner. With the collection of critters I've got I bought one a few years ago and it's one of the best purchases I've made. You can rent one of course at any supermarket. Congrats on your new truck BTW... it is invaluable to any homeowner IMO. Have a nice walk with your cute lil guy! Tomorrow is the day for the big 10 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Judy- I didn't notice that the ACSM site didn't mention RTs for the fitness instructor cert. However any RT with a strong background in critical care I feel would have no problem with this material.
Are you considering getting certified? Have a fun golf day!

Lorie- How wonderful that you are a foster family for homeless dogs!
How long do you usually keep them for? I hope you have luck with that today. I've adopted all of my critters from rescue groups, they are the greatest! Glad to hear you're taking a break and have some arch supports! I think you should look into alternating some runs with work on an elliptical! Absolutely excellent form of crosstraining and alot of us cheetahs have one or use on at a gym.

Jess- Great to hear from you! Don't feel bad about not having time for personals... we love getting updates about how you're doing!!
You sound well and are really truly an X fanatic! What kind of PT job are you looking for?

Carole- Hey girl.... we're on the same wavelength today. I'll also be doing KPC:7 I'm so jealous that you are getting wood laminate! It must be beautiful. I'd love to replace my carpeting with it but one of my dogs is old and very arthritic and can't handle that kind of surface. Have a great day! BTW, I got your check, thanks!

Christine- So glad to hear that your DH is back home and doing well!
A nice LONG run for you today!!! Have fun and I know it will go well for ya!

Well, enough babble and time to get moving. I'll be doing KPC and
40 minutes on the EXT (that's an elliptical cross trainer for the new cheetahs -- it's a Carole term)

Later

ShellyC

Lots of chatty Cheetahs today!!!!!

Warm welcomes to our new Cheetahs! :)

How is everyone? I am sorry this is so quick, but I read it all and I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

I had a rest day today - I am up every 5AM Mon-Fri working out before my teaching school day - so I feel great!

I have to clean the house and do laundry actually!

I am going to a toy party tonight - called Temptations. It's a girls night! ha ha!

Take care!
Amy :)

Good morning cheetahs!
I am up and ready for Kickbox xtreme with Amy Bento. I just got it yesterday. I have very few kickboxing dvd's so I am hoping this is a good one. Carole and Shelly recommended it so I am sure I will be dying}( I ran 5 miles yesterday and did Cardio and weights abs and all of PUB. It was a great workout day, but not a great eating one:( It was my friend Rania's b-day and I had a get together at my house with a giant yummy chocolate cake with white buttercream frosting. Well, I hopefully will burn off a few of those calories today.

You guys are a chatty bunch today. Welcome Wendi and Lori. It is always nice to have new runners here to share there experiences and injuries ;-)

Wendy, I so get your frustration about doggie poo. My cat throws up hairballs at least once a week and it drives me crazy. The kids are always fascinated by it, but it grosses me out. It sounds like you are your way to be an employed pt.

Carole, great pics! I will be thinking of you when I am kicking and punching today with Amy. That is great about your new floor. My hubby recently get rid of the carpet downstairs and put a beautiful ceramic tile down. It looks so much better and I don't have to worry about spills and animal messes anymore. Wood laminate is so durable too.

Christine, SO glad to hear that DH is fine. It was a tough week for you and you managed to lose another pound. Good for you! Enjoy your 9 miles. It is rainy and icky here and my kids are begging to go to chuck e cheese, UGHHHH! I hate that place.

Jess! I wwas just thinking about you the other day. Nice to hear from you:)

Judy, Enjoy your rest day! How many animals do you have?

Cathy, go get that workout it!!!! Sometimes hanging out with friends and blowing off a workout is a healthy thing to do.:)

Shelly, I read that you are going to get certified through ACSM. That is the best certification you can get!!! I am so happy that you are changing careers. You will be so great and inspirational being a trainer. Kudos to you for making a change. Have fun with kPC and the elliptical. I will let you know what I thought of KBX.

WEll ladies, I am off to kickbox! Hello to everyone else!

Amy, that sounds like a fun party!

Susan

Well, I just re-started ABA's cardio only premix TWICE in an attempt to get THE FIRST COMBO and it's BEYOND ME!!! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Unhappy/brick-wall-017.gif[/IMG] Now I am frustrated and in no mood for choreography at all. Perhaps I should have just gone to the gym after all! GRRRR. I am going to take a nap as I am feeling sleepy. Perhaps it's what I need and I will do better afterwards if I feel up to trying again. Or atleast maybe I'll just be able to do SOMETHING after a short snooze....We shall see...I'll be back!

Thanks for letting me vent!}(
