Hello ladies!! I hope you all are doing well!!

I did IMAX2 this morning and did pullups after the blasts (everyother) I did my 25 pullups for the day. Some assisted with the light band, some unassisted. The unassisted were shoulder width, the assisted were wide grip.

How are you ladies doing?? Come on lets see those numbers :)

Good Morning Catherine and Chinsters,

I was out of town since Thursday. Went to visit friends. Usually, I get out and go for a run when I am on vacation but didn't do that because all the roads by their house were very icy (so I just walked some). I did do a chin up last night after I got home. But, boy do I need a good cardio workout.

I'm starting to get a little nervous about STS. And, excited at the same time. Usually, I am just excited to get new Cathe workouts. Anyone else feel that way or is it because I am such a cardio nut?

Joanne

I am soooooooo excited about STS. A little nervous only because I have been doing my own thing with my wt lifting and it has been working. But I will do the program as it at least once ;)

Joanne, good decision to not run on the icey roads :+ ^^ on the chinup!! Are you still doing negatives??

I'm here!

I decided to end my X rotation a week early. I'm doing a recovery week and will probably do mostly yoga this week. Did Shiva Rea's Hip Opening Flow (77 mins.) Did handstands against the wall.

I wish they would post all the exercises in STS so I'd know for sure that I definitely want it. I see some new stuff but a lot that's on other DVDs. I know there's a limit as to how many new exercises there are to dream up but $200 is a lot of money and I hate to spend that much if I have so much of it on other DVDs. I do like that it's a complete program with periodization and it's great she's doing non-weighted leg work as well. I have one more week but most likely I'll be ordering but with the 3-month option.

Marcy

Catherine-good job! I haven't been doing the negs but I know I should start doing those again.

Joanne

Hey ladies!! Today I did legs and chinups today. I got my 25 chinups in sets of 5 done. My bootie is already sore  I wonder what that will mean tomorrow.

Joanne, Briee, Marcy where are ya? Hope you all are doing ok

Catherine-I am not familiar with iron woody bands. What the heck are those? And, your chin up numbers - WOW! I tried to do a pull up yesterday-only could pull up a little.

Today, I did Meaner Legs. I haven't done that one in a long time. I have to do that one more often.

Joanne

Joanne, pullups are much harder than chinups IMO. I was doing sets of 2-3 on pullup and stopped for a while and now can only do one. Here's the link to the iron woody bands-they are expensive though: http://www.ironwoodyfitness.com/fitness-bands-stretch-bands-purchase.php

I bought the basic set with the small, medium and large. I really don't need the med and large. Actually the small gives me too much help so I think I'm gonna have to add some wt on when using it. Anyway, I think Briee said you can find something like it at Walmart or Target or something like that.

I so need to get motivated to workout today. I have been on the couch all day-uuuuuuggggghhhhhh!!! And I have 25 pullups to do. Double uuuuuuuggggghhhhh!!

OK,finally got off of my hiney and worked out! I fooled my body by doing 2 heavy upper body w/o in 1 week. Usually I do one heavy, low rep and one lighter mod rep w/o each for upper and lower body. Today I Benched 90# for 4 sets-5,4,4,& 3 then dropped to 85# and did 5 reps. That's a PR for me!!! I can remember the first time I eeeeked out 1 rep with 90# my arms were shaking and the wt felt so heavy. Today, I could tell that I have gotten stronger!! What a good feeling!! I did my 25 pullups-2+3, 2+3, 1+4, 1+4 & 1+4 (the + number is the assisted and they were wide grip). My goal was to get 1 set of 2 on my own this week and I got 2 sets of 2 on my own!! So it was a good w/o day for me.

Oh, and I had an epiphany on the band assist. Putting your foot in the band is easier than putting your knee in the band. So for now I am putting my knee in the band. Then maybe I will add wt as it gets easier ;)

Sorry to ramble,....

Briee, girl where are you. Hope you haven't lost your enthusiasm!!

Marcy, what's up??

Catherine-thanks for the link on those woody bands. Maybe, I will check some stores around here. They look interesting.

Joanne

Joanne, you are welcome. I probably wouldn't have spent so much money if I had shopped around some. But when I want something, well, I want it now LOL!!

I just found a use for the medium resistance bands. One armed chinups!! I just did 2 on each arm!! DH said I cheated. No, I used assistance LOL!! Hey I think it's a great way to increase strength. Unilateral work is good for you right?

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days but I've been swamped at work and have lots of things going on with my house closings. This has been my recovery week from P90X and then on to new stuff. I'll finally be able to do Tracey Staehle's Parts Series and planning on adding in the p90X+ workouts since both of these are more endurance and I'll continue to do chinups/pullups.

To update:

Monday - Shiva Rea - Fluid Power Hip Opening Flow

Tuesday - Did Latin Grooves - Sherry Jacquelyn - 1st time doing workout and absolutely loved it - latin and hip hop dance (I'm better with the Latin); had a few pushups in it and some ab work. Added on Pullups/chinups - 5 in all. I'm up to 2 in a row on chinups(almost 3).

Wednesday - Shiva Rea - Made my own practice from the matrix. I love this DVD. Did handstands, backbends, forward bends & twists, core abs and standing pose flows 1 and 2.

Thursday - Absolute Kickboxing with Kim Spreen. I also love this one as well. I'm still feeling it today in my back and biceps. Those combat intervals are killer. They didn't feel as bad doing them but afterwards wasn't so good.

Also, I go linedancing every Thursday night for about 3 hours so that's good for about 1000 calories.

Friday - Mark Blanchard's Core - nice short 45 mins. practice - a few challenging moves but nothing too bad.

I'm probably taking a rest day tomorrow. I think I need to do Stretch Max tonight. I love that stretch she does where you lie on your stomach over the ball.

Joanne - I agree with Catherine - Pullups are much tougher than chinups. It took me 2 rounds of the X to finally be able to do a pullup.

Catherine - One-arm pullups! You constantly amaze me!

Briee - How're ya doing?

Marcy

Just read through everyones posts and glad you are all doing so well. Catherine, amazing bench press!! I don't think I can do 90#...I don't think I've ever done 90#. I don't think I've ever even tried 90. I'll have to go try 90#.

Here's the deal...I tried my best to fight the sickness, but after pot luck dinner at church and 4 deserts later - the sugar lessened my immunity and I got the dreaded sore throat. I loaded the Vitamin C and garlic and managed to get back laying on the couch for a few days and not getting the cough that accompanied most others who had it around here. I consider myself blessed!!

So the first thing I've done is chins/pulls yesterday. 6 Pulls wider grip and 5 chins. I want to do the full 25 today and I'm not sure what else.

Marcy...you need the STS, but I understand the money thing...I'm limited right now too. Actually a friend and I went in on it, so it cost $100 for me:7 :7 . We'll fight over them at a later date}( }( .

Waves to all and keep on chinnin!!

Briee

Hey Briee!! Glad to see ya. Sorry you got sick - darn desserts x( :+ I am in awe that you can do 6 wide grip pullups. I can not do 1 wide grip. I can do 2 shoulder width or just a little wider, but no wide grip- except with the band. Get some rest and feel better soon!! We've all gotta get in shape for STS!!!

Briee - I'll be ordering STS after all. I'm going to do the 3-month thing so it won't be quite so bad.

Get well soon!

Marcy
