Default correct rehab exercises for recovering athletes

I noticed a few of us of had some pretty serious injuries over the years and I'm heading for rotator cuff surgery this Tuesday. Our injuries are mostly due to over use because we're so gung ho with our fitness and have trouble scaling back. When we're injured we're knocked down completely with a major owie.
We come here to get advice in our journey back to physical health. I'd love to have Cathe do a DVD on rehabilitation exercises for the Athlete. Something you can do at home that restrengthens the body - reminding us of correct body alignment and muscle strengthening that we can do after we're done with rehab but not ready for our pedal to the medal workouts.
I find lots of stuff for "Senior's" or on individual body part strengthening but nothing for someone looking to get back in shape after a major injury that has the quality of the work Cathe does.
Just an idea.

That would be wonderful, but I would think that any trainer would be hesitant to release such a dvd because of the possible legal ramifications. Trainers have to be extremely careful not to cross the line from training to physical therapy or to medicine. Any language hinting at recovery or therapy will leave them open to lawsuits. It's unfortunate, but they have to be very watchful.

I didn't realize that but it makes sense. That explains why I can't seem to find any at home DVDs for after the PT is over. I'm trying to get as much info before the surgery so I can start making a recovery rotation. I probably should be cleaning my house to get ready instead.

based on other threads, i have been thinking about purchasing debbie seibers total body solution from beachbody to hopefully help with achiness and joint discomfort. i know my situation is different than rehab after surgery but i imagine if the exercises are PT based then you would recognize many of them from the 1:1 PT you do afterwards and find them helpful. initially i was searching reviews over at VF and found nothing but someone here suggested searching the VF forums and VOILA! lots of discussion about rehab exercises and good videos for this. head over there and see if you cant find something that fits the bill!

typing with my left hand i had the surgery last tuesday. i've got a four inch incision over my right shoulder and work out 4 hours a day with a motorized chair that lifts and lowers my arm through a range of motion starting at 60 degrees and i build up to 120 degrees in 4 to 6 weeks.
see the dr. next tusday want to get ok for walks, lower body lunges etc.
i'm going to check out debbie sellers and check out rehab exercises at fv. thanks, colleen

I would love it if Cathe would do a recovery/rebab/conditioning type video too. I remember she went through a knee injury and would love to know her insights on rehabbing a knee, for example. But also shoulders, elbows, neck - basically everything and anything. I find this hard to admit, but I injured myself after doing only 3 videos of STS and have not been able to re-start it since due to elbow and shoulder trouble. Help needed :-)

let us know what you think abot total body solutions. i go see the orthopedic surgeon for my one week post op check up.
i've gone from 60 degrees to 90 degrees abduction range of motion with my mechanical chair. i can't wait to start working out again. my back is killing me from sitting in the rehab chair.

I plan to start a thread shortly about total body solutions - I have done all of the workouts on it and want to write some thoughts on it - but I'll do it in the Open Discussion forum - it doesn't really fit in here.
