Default Two a day rotation?

I know there are some people on the forums who workout twice a day, are there any rotations to reflect this? I usually just throw in a cardio workout in the morning, but it would be great to have an actual rotation to follow

I don't know if there is an actual Cathe developed rotation or a rotation developed by another member who is a CPT but this is what I do (excuse the fact they are not all Cathe):

Sunday
AM
Cathe’s Low Impact Step; 30 min.
Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Meltdown: Level 1; 30 min.
Cathe’s Stretch Max: No Equipment Needed Segment; 20 min.
PM
Rest
Monday
AM
Kelly Coffey-Meyer’s Athletic Step: Premix 2 (mix of step aerobics and plyometrics); 50 min.
PM
Cathe’s Gym Style Back, Shoulders, and Biceps; 50 min.
Tuesday
AM
Cathe’s Cardio Core Circuit; 50 min.
PM
Cathe’s Gym Style Legs; 60 min.
Wednesday
REST! (and boy do my legs need it after GS Legs!)
Thursday
AM
Cathe’s Athletic Step; 40 min.
PM
Cathe’s Gym Style Chest and Triceps; 45 min.
Friday
AM
Jillian Michaels’ Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism; 45 min.
PM
Cathe’s Core Max: Segments 1 & 2; 40 min.
Saturday
AM
Cathe’s Kick Max (except Leg Conditioning); 50 min.
Cathe’s Muscle Max; 60 min.
PM
Rest
I don't know if this is overkill or not but it keeps me going. Plus I am in the trying to lose some body fat % while gaining lean body mass stage. I am hoping to back off a few days (or at least go lighter) someday.

Hope this helps a little!

WOW!! that looks really tuff. are you sure you are not overtraining?? that is alot of working out. you must be very young. be careful. i used to be able to workout like that, but i think that might be one of the reasons that i get so fatigued today and my feet hurt allllll the time. i change shoes regularly, and use all kinds of orthotics. but, i am 55 and my feet have taken a real pounding over the years. that is the only reason i can figure that my feet hurt all the time. i only weight about 108, so i'm not overweight, and have never been excessively overweight. but, am and always have been on my feet alot.

I don't know if I am overtraining. My husband says I am but I don't listen to him since his favorite form of exercise is watching TV on the couch or in bed!

I have never gone to a gym or had a personal trainer tell me what I need to do. I did read a Tom Venturo's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle which mentions needing to do 5-6 days of cardio with 3-4 days of weight training in order to burn fat.

I wouldn't say I have a lot of weight to lose (maybe 8 pounds or 5% bodyfat). I have lost 75 pounds in the last 6 years (with some yo-yoing along the way) and my biggest fear is getting out of the habit of working out and gaining any of the weight back.

I am 30 years old and don't really have too many physical problems...yet. My knees bother me if I do too many high impact days in a row but I have been wearing a knee strap for the last several weeks and it has helped tremendously.

I got the idea of the two a day workouts from Tom Venuto too. So far I've lost 5 lbs, so it's been working!!! Thanks for the ideas

I just started doing two workouts a day this week. I'm on day 5, and I'm pretty tired at times during the day, but that's to be expected. It'll be interesting to see how long before I adjust to the increased workload.

I've noticed that I'm not sleeping as well, and I suspect the cardio session around 8pm might be the reason. When I do fall asleep, I wake up ready to go at 3am. It takes me about an hour to fall back asleep, but then I'm ready to go again at 6:30am. Weird.

Today, I switched and did cardio in the early AM, weights in the late afternoon. I hope that helps. Not that I mind having more energy, but 3am energy isn't quite what I was looking for.

I'll check back in next week. If this works well for me, I'll write down what I did and perhaps put together a rotation. (I have to see if I survive this first! )

My initial impression: I like getting the extra cardio in, and I'm putting more effort into the lower body as well (B&G, GSL, and PLB). I'm not trying to lose a large amount of weight ~ I'm only trying to lean out a bit. So far I'm down one pound.

Default similar question

I am following the get readyfor summer rotation ( a little late, I know). I work three 12 hour days, and on those days its impossible to workout. I know some of you get up at 4am to workout, and thats great. I just cant do it myself, it doesnt work! So that leaves 4 days to workout. I was wondering if I can accomplish the same thing by working out twice on a couple of my days off. It seems logical, right?

shannoncorrin - I am not sure why that wouldn't work. As long as you have the energy to do it, I say go for it. But remember to listen to your body, if you need to take time off do it whether it be just one of the workouts for that day or the entire day. Or, instead of completely resting, try doing one of the stretch max segments. I like those better than yoga to help me relax my muscles and my mind! I prefer segment 3 with the band but segment 1 is a close second. Good luck!

I think this would work just fine. In fact, I'd probably do the same thing.

Checking back in, and I'm still alive.

Surprisingly, I'm getting used to two workouts a day. Doing cardio in the AM and weights in the PM has been working well for me. I'm no longer waking up in the middle of the night, thank goodness.

I love that I can get extra cardio and a second day of legs in, and if I wish, I can take the whole weekend off. I probably shouldn't and should instead use Saturday as a bonus cardio day, but I'll get around to that eventually. Maybe. Baby steps.

I haven't watched my diet at all (bad!) ~ I figure I'll add that in later as well.

I'm feeling strong and doing really well. I was afraid I'd overdo things and be exhausted, but fortunately I'm experiencing the opposite effect.
