Hi Juls - not a stupid question. A spin bike is used for this workout. I have a LeMond Revmaster Pro at home.

Mine is a gold's gym one that I bought at Walmart for under $300. At first I thought it was loud. Either I am used to it, or it has settled in. From the research I did before buying, they say that the heavier the flywheel the better(atleast 40lbs). Make sure the seat and handle bars are adjustable. I guess it depends on how ofthen you are going to spin. Mine suits me just fine, but I am only using it a couple times a week so far.
I actually went out and bought this bike becasuse of Cathe!! Cycle Max is awesome!!!

I use my winter road bike on a trainer. It works fine and I have no trouble standing up with it. I wouldn't use my nice road bike on it, as it seems like a lot of wear and tear on the back wheel.

I just bought a Bladez Fitness SX Pro (it was on sale at Sears for $699.00 CDN). It's super solid and smooth. It has a 48 lb wheel. So far I'm very happy with the purchase. The seat is hard, but I've gotten used to it. I do plan to buy a softer seat and bike shoes in the future. Also I'm short (at 5'1) and this bike fits me comfortably. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
