Defied Genetics by Linda Russo

After

My story is a little different from most. I have been thin my entire life. In fact, when I was younger I did everything to try to gain weight, which doesn’t make for a very healthy diet. At one point, my cholesterol was well over 200. I was tired all the time. I was finally diagnosed with an under active thyroid, which to my doctor’s surprise didn’t even put weight on me.

I have always envied women with muscle. Over the years, I was in and out of gyms trying to build muscle, but never got the results I was after. Someone once said to me ” You have absolutely no muscle tone “. I realized that I didn’t have the genetics to gain muscle (so I thought).

When I turned 40 I was what’s known as skinny fat. Still thin, but out of shape with flabby arms and legs, and the cellulite was starting to sneak in.

At 41, I decided I had to do something to tone up my body. I cleaned up my diet, and decided to give strength training another try (this time at home). I bought several workout dvds with few results. I was ready to give up once again, when I stumbled upon Cathe’s Muscle Max dvd. I loved it so much I bought more and more of her dvds until eventually I had all her strength training dvds and most of her cardio dvds. I was making great progress. Finally, I started STS which brought me to the next level.

Now, 2 years later, my cholesterol is down to 128. I have more energy than ever before. My whole body is toned and my cellulite has vanished.

This skinny girl has the muscle she has always wanted, and I owe it all to Cathe.

  • Hey…just amazing! You give me hope. Can’t believe you’re 40 though would have never guessed. I just started getting serious about working out at age 40…better late than never right? I love Cathe’s workouts…seeing you just added to my incentive. Keep up the great work!

  • WOW our stories are so similar, except I have an overactive thyroid. My first real workout with Cathe was also Muscle Max.
