CATHE MAKES FITNESS REWARDING AND FUN!! by Kimber

After

I’ve been exercising regularly since 1983. That was when I was seeing a doctor for depression. Along with medication, he suggested that I start exercising. I took some fitness classes at college and found that I did indeed have a happier outlook on life when I was active several times a week. I started running 3 to 4 times per week and soon I didn’t need the medication any more, and haven’t taken any anti-depressants since.

Running is great exercise. It’s inexpensive, it’s very time efficient, and you can do it anywhere and any time you can fit it in. However, after 25 years of it, I found that it was starting to wear my body out. First I started wearing a knee brace for knee pain, then my hips starting hurting and caused me to limp whenever I got up after sitting for a while.

About 2 years ago I started thinking that even though I loved running, I couldn’t put off cross training any longer. I checked out the Fit TV forums and found that Cathe had videos for the ‘hard core’ exerciser, so I tried Step Blast, and have been hooked every since.

I’ve always been thin and looked fairly fit from all that running, but when I started working out with Cathe, I started noticing more. More muscle definition, more strength, and more cardio efficiency. And the best thing about all of that is that it happened while having fun, so it felt like ‘it just happened’! My fitness level is so much higher than it has ever been! This past Fall I signed up for a sprint triathlon only 1 month before the triathlon date. I was able to complete the triathlon easily based on my normal Cathe-trained fitness level!

I have about 20 Cathe DVDs and will continue to acquire more as time goes on. I can’t really say I have a favorite because I love them all! I also love the huge variety of workouts that Cathe provides; it helps me make my goal of cross training and overall fitness fun and interesting. At 47, I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been. Thanks Cathe, for making working out rewarding and fun!

  • Oh my God! Your picture and healthy, fit body say it all! You look very good,! Amazing, and your smile tells the rest of the story. You look so happy and satisfied. Keep it up!

  • Thank you so much! I was so pleased to have completed that race. Next time I will definitely do some sport specific training before hand though. The swimming leg was the hardest part for me.

  • Congratulations, Kimber!! That is an awesome achievement!! Just curious what you did to help with the hip pain… I suffer from that embarrassing limp at a young 44 y.o..

    Thanks!

  • Hi Pam,

Yes, it is embarassing isn’t it!! I felt like my grandmother.

Although I was told I have arthritis in that hip (didn’t check the other one), I really felt like it was the ‘repetitive use’ that was making it hurt that bad. I also read that if you have knee pain, that it could eventually cause pain upwards into your hips.

Once I started Cathe’s workouts, I think I started building up the muscles around the knee, so that helped. Also changing my routine so often with her different workouts gave me time to rest and heal the different parts of my body. I think that when we age, we need that more than when we were young.

Now and then I still get some aches and pains in my knees, but I NEVER have to limp around due to my hip. Even when it’s cold!

One other thing…I do all the stretches at the end of Cathe’s workouts. I’m sure that does me a lot of good too!

    Good luck!
    Kimber
