Amanda's Tailgatin' Texan Chili

Ingredients

1 can Pinto beans, drained and rinsed in a colander
2 cans no salt added diced tomatoes
2 lbs. extra lean ground beef or turkey
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 minced garlic cloves
2 or 3 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp. sea salt
Toppings of your choice–chopped onions, sliced jalapenos, fat free cheese etc.

Directions:

1. Drain and rinse beans in colander.
2. Season meat if desired (Lawry’s seasonings, etc) and brown and drain.
3. Put all ingredients in a crock pot slow cooker and mix well.
4. Cover and cook on low setting for 10 hours.

****There’s nothing better than a bowl of chili when you’re watching your favorite team! Its that time of year- bowl games, NFL playoffs, tailgate parties, Christmas parties, basketball games and chili is always a fan favorite. We’re especially excited down here in Houston and proud of our Texans for making the NFL Playoffs for the first time in franchise history! We will be having chili tomorrow night as we watch them take on the Indianapolis Colts!!!!***
