LITE is a fully low impact series that was designed to challenge the intermediate exerciser. Although the workouts were created with the intermediate exerciser in mind, they are easily adaptable for a more advanced exerciser by simply choosing heavier weight options and adding impact to the cardio movement as desired. Higher intensity “Calorie Crush” add on bonuses have also been added to the cardio routines to allow an advanced exerciser to get a solid sweaty workout! These easy adjustments will also help an intermediate exerciser as they graduate with the program and start looking for additional challenges.
The Calorie Crushes are also great on their own when you only have a small amount of time to spare and want to get a quick sweat before getting on with your day! The LITE Series has a perfect mix of solid weight routines and high energy, heart happy cardio! I love all of Cathe's series, but this one really raised the bar. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced exerciser. There are so many ways to make this fit your fitness level. I love the new exercises and combination of exercises, not to mention there are so many sports' inspired exercises. The set, crew, music and production value are outstanding. The premixes were well thought out and adding in the bonuses really puts this series in a class all it's own. Lite series has massive staying power in anyone's fitness rotations. If done as is, allows exercisers lots of room to grow. If you use heavier weights and choose the extreme premixes, it challenges the most experienced exerciser. For this series, I purchased both the DVDs and downloads and will get use out of both of them. Love having all the premixes on the DVDs, and the downloads are great for travel or when I want to add a quick calorie crush, pyramid pump or core workout to another workout. The Pyramid Pump routines are a great add-on to a current routine, or do do the pump routine on it's own. There are so many ways to use this series, it truly is so versatile. It also has massive variety, with cardio, MMA, weight training, metabolic training, core and stretch routines. I have been a Cathe fan for years. After having a cervical spine surgery in 2017 I have really had to cut back on the heavier weights and switched to Spinning...Missed the weights... so I just received the LITE DVDs a few weeks back and am happy to be back to what I love! Love the Lite Series!!!! I am a more advanced exerciser but one with an increasing low impact focus. Been a Cathelete for a long time with Xtrain as my core workout regimen, with Afterburn, Slide & Glide, Core Max as additions. Love Lite, both the variety and the new and complementary exercises it offers; love that you can modify workouts or use different workouts to train more heavily or lightly depending on energy and strength levels. Cathe did a great job with this series. There are tons of options for you depending on how you feel that day. Plus, the workouts are under 45 mins. which keeps me optimistic about being able to get through them. I am 66 years old and have basically been road biking for the last decade. I used to go to the gym 6 days a week or do a Cathe DVD. I was very upset to see how much overall fitness I have lost by neglecting this type of workout. It happens every winter and it’s getting worse as I get older. My promise to myself is to stick with Cathe (I think I have almost every workout) to improve my physical and emotional well being. Free LITE User's Guide
In the LITE User’s Guide, I’ve provided four rotations to keep you motivated and challenged as you get to know and love your new routines!
These rotations utilize the LITE series workouts along with a few other favorite series to keep things fresh and challenging through the weeks in each rotation. Choose to do a one-month rotation or add multiple rotations together for a two, three or even four-month challenge! I’ve added one rest day per week throughout the rotations. Take additional rest days when needed and utilize the extended stretches as often as you like.
Calorie Crush add on bonuses are always listed as “optional” and can be eliminated if you prefer to keep your workout entirely low impact. On the flip side, you can add Calorie Crushes on any days where they are not listed if you feel like you need an extra boost!
As always, get plenty of water, eat well and make sure you always leave time for proper recovery. Double knot those laces; it’s time to crush it!

#1 LITE Keeps Working Out Fun
The “same old, same old” DOES become boring. That’s why it’s important to vary the type of workouts you do and have some fun while you're at it. An example is cardio training. With so many ways to do cardio, why would you do only one? With LITE you can choose from several different types of cardio strength training that you enjoy and alternate between them. For example, tackle a metabolic workout during one session, kickboxing in another, and PHA training during the third session. It’s hard to get bored with so much variety – and think outside the cardio box. LITE premixes and Calorie Crush add-ons routines offer almost endless cardiovascular benefits for intermediate and advanced exercisers.
#2 – LITE Gives Your Body a Metabolic Boost Long After Training is Over
LITE metabolic training is special for the fact that it grabs your metabolism by the horns and takes it for a wild ride! After your initial training session is over, your metabolism is still revved up and running in high gear, resulting in more calories burned over a 24 hour period (when compared to traditional exercise). The more calories you are able to melt off throughout the day equates to a higher percentage of weight loss over time.
Some folks argue that steady-state cardio (such as walking on a treadmill for an hour) will burn more calories than a shorter metabolic session. While the comparison itself in some cases may be true, many forget that it’s not how many calories you burn in a workout, but how many you actually burn in a day. If you want to annihilate fat, high intensity interval training is the way to go.
#3 – LITE Doesn’t Require All of Your Time
We live in a busy world where every ounce of free time is treasured like a family heirloom. People don’t have an hour or two a day to dedicate to their workout. The misconception that long workouts equal more fat loss is half the reason why many people don’t make exercise a part of their daily life to begin with.
LITE is great for this exact reason. Most workouts can be completed in in less than 40 minutes withe timesaver premix options available for those seeking even shorter workout options. If you can’t find a way to squeeze in a 40 minute workout each day, it might be time to reassess your goals and figure out how you can alter your schedule to make it work. Try it for a couple of weeks and see how you do. Once you see your results, you will wonder how you never had the time to make it happen!
#4 – It’s Flexible and Can Be Done Anywhere (No Gym Required)
Hate going to the gym? You’re not alone. If you barely have enough time to exercise, how can anyone expect you to drive to a gym and get your workout in? When you consider the time it takes to exercise and travel, it can take up a significant chunk of your day (or night).
Here’s the deal – LITE can be done at any place, any time! In fact, you can get in a fat blasting workout that will ignite your metabolism right in the privacy of your own home. No major expensive equipment is required. All you need is your body, some standard home fitness equipment, and a few minutes to make your weight loss and fitness goals become a reality.
#5 – Benefits of LITE PHA Training
What makes LITE PHA training so effective? To meet the added demands of pumping blood between the upper and lower body, your heart has to work harder. This type of training is more challenging to the cardiovascular system than even a traditional circuit workout. Is it an alternative to traditional cardio?
A study published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology showed that PHA workouts increase maximum oxygen consumption as well as muscle strength. During the workout, participants maintained a heart rate of between 60 and 80% of maximal heart rate, enough to offer cardiovascular benefits. After 12 weeks of training, the participants also experienced a reduction in systolic blood pressure. If you’re pressed for time, you can challenge your cardiovascular system and build strength in a single workout with LITE PHA training.
LITE PHA is also good for fat loss. The demanding nature of this type of workout forces your body to burn more calories and body fat than standard strength training. So, if you’re trying to get strong, but also shed some body fat, PHA offers both benefits. Another advantage of PHA training is you’re limiting lactic acid build-up and fatigue. When you build up lactic acid in your upper body and the muscles fatigue, you switch to the lower body where the muscles have had enough recovery time to generate force again. With PHA, your upper body recovers while your lower body works and vice versa. In that sense, it’s a time expedient way to work out too.
#6 – LITE Workout Variety
It’s easy to become limited by your routine. Once we feel comfortable doing something, it’s easy to keep doing it – but that can also lead to boredom and stagnation. Plus, varying your workout type and intensity keeps you from working the same muscles over and over in the same way, which can lead to an overuse injury. With so many ways to work out in the comfort of your own home with minimal equipment, there’s no reason to ever experience stagnation or boredom. Don’t be afraid to try something new. LITE will give you a different perspective – and different results as well. Even if you're an advanced exerciser it's a good idea to vary the intensity of your workouts from time to time to avoid overtraining and to allow your body time to recover from your more intense workouts.
#7 – LITE Pyramid Training Delivers Results
To continue to get benefits from resistance training, you need to challenge your muscles in new ways. Do the same routine month after month and your body will adapt and you’ll stop seeing change. The good news? Making even small changes to your workout is often enough to give new results. Here’s a way to change your routine – try pyramid strength training.
When you do pyramid strength training, you’re working muscles in a number of different ways. You start out with light weights and multiple repetitions. This gives your muscles an endurance workout, activating mostly slow-twitch muscle fibers. As you gradually move up the pyramid, the weight becomes heavier and the repetitions fewer as you transition to heavier weights and low reps to build strength.
As you move up the pyramid towards the heaviest weight, you’re progressively challenging your muscle, giving them the stimulus they need to grow while activating more fast-twitch muscle fibers, ones that are important for strength and power. If you haven’t done this type of routine in a while, your muscles will feel challenged and thoroughly exhausted by the time you reach the top of the pyramid. That’s what you need for growth and change. But you're not finished! You then further work your muscles by going back down the pyramid. With reverse pyramid training, you move in the opposite direction. For the reverse structure, the FIRST set is the heaviest and you reduce the resistance for each subsequent set. As you reduce the resistance, the number of reps you do goes up. In this scheme, you start with 15 pounds in each hand for biceps curls and do 6 reps followed by 12 pounds for 8 reps and, finally, 10 pounds for 10 reps.
The pyramid sequence works nicely because the first set serves as a warm-up, increasing blood flow to your muscles while working on muscular endurance. As you move up in terms of weight, your muscles are warm and ready to meet the increased challenge of heavier weight.
